What techniques have you never tried?
I routinely fish a somewhat varied list of techniques. Tried a bunch, some didn't seem to match my style or fisheries. Have not throw the really big hard bodied swimbaits, I'm talking the 10 inch / 6 ounce plus baits; not for bass anyway. Also some of the 'rigs' like the dangle rig & the stupid rig and let's not forget the Geekinhiem rig, will probably never make it into my arsenal. However none of this has discouraged the bait monkey from keeping me on speed dial, which has been going on for many years now. A-Jay

And for once - It's pretty nice here. A little cool but above freezing with some sunshine. Extended forecast includes daytime temps above the "melt me" line with very little in the way of solid precipitation expected. I may even start thinking above loading some gear into the boat - Oh boy. A-Jay

Ever heard of the Beaufort Scale?
On big water, and in a vessel designed to be there, things don't even get interesting until around #7. A-Jay

Why do the older legendary pros struggle to compete ? ?
Why do the older legendary pros struggle to compete ? ? Interesting question. There aren't a whole lot of 'professional sports' where 50 year old's are effectively competing with 20 year old's. I believe the reason(s) are fairly obvious However, as a 50 something human myself, this isn't something I'm particularly excited about. But it is what it is. Probably where "Youth is wasted on the young" came from. A-Jay

Transom saver with center trailer light ?
I'm running a standard transom saver. Before I went with it I tried My Wedge. I like the concept however the product did not fit my application. If it had I would have used it. Sure seems a lot easier and does the same job - perhaps better A-Jay http://www.m-ywedge.com/

MY Lund dealer teased me
Sweet Rig ~ You could always go there & just sit in it - You know, just so you could smell it. A-Jay (OK, I'll admit it - I do that to mine out in the garage several times a winter. I can't help it. I miss it.)

Help please- Inventor w/ a product research question regarding landing a fish....
The other factor that Must be addressed when fighting a fish from most any small craft (insert, canoe, kayak, or car topper) is that while a fish is trying to pull away from the angler, and the angler is trying to pull the fish towards the boat, the vessel is almost always being pulled towards the fish. This causes immediate slack in the line and if not recovered quickly can often earn the fish it's freedom in short order. A-Jay

Help please- Inventor w/ a product research question regarding landing a fish....
Thanks for response Kevin ~ Seems you may be ignoring / disregarding a couple of parts of the equation. The bend in the rod and unless one's using braided line, the stretch in the line. Both can play a particularly important role in the fish landing process, regardless of species. I fish quite a bit from a canoe. Depending on the situation I'll have only one hand on the rod quite a bit of the fight, especially in the beginning and the very end. Maneuvering the hand operated trolling motor & netting the fish demands it. The whole 'act' is sort of a finely tuned dance that one prefects one the years. At this point I'm not ever even thinking about it - it just happens. The linked thread below includes a video where the one handed dance is employed a couple of times. A-Jay

Hello Kevin and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Are you an experienced angler yourself or more of a novice ? Perhaps you've never been fishing and would like to learn ? How long did it take to invent independence ? Could you please be a little more vague ? A-Jay
