  1. Done. Thanks A-Jay
  2. @Jigfishn10 ~ Yup - I'm waiting for the catchers to start texting the pitches after every PITCH ! A-Jay
  3. LOL ~ He was a STUD ! ( and you're either a heck of a historian or an old guy like me ) @Jigfishn10 - But I don't think he'd like all the 'new' "don't slide into me because I'm frail" rules . . . A-Jay
  4. Maybe Mikey Lowell is up for a come back ? A-Jay
  5. I saw that too @Jigfishn10 Considering the way he's been pitching a little better lately (which may be a result of the schedule more than anything else) as well as the way the team handled this, the second such incident, (that we know of) I'm thinking the organization / team feels 'they handled it' and may be willing to ride out the storm at least through this season. But if the man repeats his "I choke big time in the playoffs" performance - I'd imagine they would entertain eating some of his ridiculous contract (which I never liked) and perhaps move is 'sensitive' hide out of Boston. On a side note - seems if Price would listen to coaching and / or figure out how to get some speed variation between pitches (cutter, splitter, something) rather than throwing EVERYTHING HARD - and With No Command - he'd stop getting Lite Up ! I'm not bitter however, because it's been a ton of fun being a Red Sox fan this past 10 days or so - WOW. It's not how you start though . . . . . . A-Jay
  6. You might consider some motorization ~ A-Jay
  7. So many great responses here so far - and in many situations, almost any one of them could be mine as well. My favorite way to fish is to be throwing what they'll eat. Sometimes I can find them and figure it out right away, other times it takes a while. Still on a few occasions, it doesn't happen at all - not really a fan of this one but I try to learn something anyway. But keeping it real - in the spring & fall for me it's almost Always something Moving. Slower in the spring & faster in the Fall - but it's a moving bait - I'm usually smiling & getting bit. Favorites include single hook baits; just because they usually do less damage to the bass & often make the hook removal process better overall. However, Anything & everything is fair game here for me - in particular thispast fall & this spring - the jerkbait has been particularly effective for both numbers & bloated bass. For the period in between, which basically means summer, the fish are deep here and I'll have 3 different drop shot rigs / baits ready to go. Baits used vary far & wide and include worms, craws, & goby style deals. And of course the exception to the 'rule' (and there is always is at least one) is the jig; which can & does come into play anytime of the year. A-Jay

  15. Hello Luke and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ What baits do you plan on throwing with this 'new' set up ? A-Jay
  16. The small vessel hookset, even with braid, really does need to include CONSTANT REELING to be most effective. This is necessary to account for the forward movement (toward the fish) that is very typical of small boats on the strike. Really becomes the deal when a spirited bass runs right at the boat on the take. So you get the strike, YOU KEEP REELING and set the hook - and then do whatever you need to, to keep a bend in your rod & at least a semi-tight line. btw - when throwing a typical buzzbait, which is usually a surface only presentation, I'd encourage you to be ready to start reeling the moment the bait hits the water: maybe even engage the reel while the bait is in the air (especially on a long cast). Failure to do so will allow the bait to "sink" below the surface. Which isn't that big a deal, except that it often takes several feet of the bait 'planning to the surface' before it's actually running & fishing as it's designed (and most effective). So a certain percentage of every cast is essentially wasted. And it's the first few feet that often produce a strike, especially if you're presenting the bait tight to what you believe is a fish holding ambush point. A spinnerbait would probably be a better choice for subsurface action. A-Jay

  19. I use a 10 lb mushroom anchor. Sometimes I use Two (Bow & Stern). Really no other way to do it. Another option is the shallow water anchor deals (basically a stick in the mud). A-Jay

  22. I hear you - it's funny because I am totally the opposite. I buy everything new - Never ever used. Guess someone has to do it - I do keep my gear in really good shape - so re-sale is never a problem. But then I buy new again. If you can wait another 20 years, I might be ready to sell the Pro-V Bass - I'll give you a great deal though . . . . A-Jay
  23. Sorry to hear you're having some challenges. There may be not be a 'right' answer - perhaps whatever is right for your situation & piece of mind. Replacing parts periodically on an almost 20 year old rig is standard procedure. Although at times I bet it can feel like is perpetual, once most everything that can be replaced & needs to be replaced is, you might get a break for a while. Right now it probably feels like you have a "Payment". Besides the $$ it can cost you time on the water, which we both know you have precious little of - especially right now. The benefit of No Boat payment may seem like little consolation if you can't fish and you're repairing something every other month or whatever. But a payment can sting a little too. Guess it depends on what you feel stings worse, the lost money or the lost money & the lost time ? I like New here. Not newer - NEW. You get to start fresh, you will know the entire history and although you may still have some repairs & even missed time on the water - for the first few years, and in all but the most unusual of circumstances - you'll be under warranty. Good Luck with your decision. A-Jay
