Drop shot rig hot tip
Once the waters warms a bit & the Brown Bass move deep, try snapping that tube. Use a heavy weight, at least a 1/2 oz inside the bait jighead and snap the heck out of it to hop it up off the bottom. Make sure it falls back on a slack line. Often the faster the fall the better. They often grab it on the fall but you usually don't feel it - until you snap up the next one . . . .And there's a big Fatty on the end of it. So this is a way to fish a tube that is Anything but boring. btw - this is not new. A-Jay

Crankbait rod maiden voyage.
'Whippy' is what makes it a crankbait rod. Just remember to CONTINUE REELING on the strike & through the hookset. You'll be glad you did, A-Jay

Crankbait rod maiden voyage.
Slow down your casting motion. Think of it as have 3 distinct phases. Swing back - load & Launch. Start the swing back slow. Then move forward (start the cast) - not super fast, but with purpose. Let & feel the blank load as the rod starts picking up the weight of the bait (loading). Then at the appropriate moment (once the reel is just about pointing at your target) - you release the spool, and the loaded rod will gracefully launch your bait into space. Try to be smooth. After getting the hang of it, you may find that you can cast very effectively with very little effort as the rod does quite a bit of the work for you. Here a video - I'm casting a 5/8 oz spinnerbait of a 7-4 composite stick - I love casting these. A-Jay

Gopro hardwired to boat battery
The Minn Kota battery box Includes two 12-volt accessory plugs, and 2 manual reset circuit breakers (10 amp for accessory plugs and 60 amp for trolling motor). Fits group 24- and 27-size batteries. But I got 31's in it. I use two in the Old Town. https://www.minnkotamotors.com/Products/BATTERY-POWER-CENTER/ This helps as well. https://www.amazon.com/GoPro-Auto-Charger-Dual-Ports/dp/B005AZ7BE8/ref=sr_1_59?srs=2529502011&ie=UTF8&qid=1498398070&sr=8-59 A-Jay

I bet (hope) he's out on the water, tearing up the deep water fish. Might even be using some electronics. A-Jay

What was your first confidence bait?
Several of these most excellent responses here bring back fond memories. However, a little too many are just making me feel Old. A-Jay

20 Lb bass
There's always a 'chance' this fish could exist. However, experienced students of the sport will stand fast on the notion that the chance in this case, is most likely minute. Sort of like hitting the Powerball twice in a row. I will admit to leaning heavily in that direction as well. "Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, it's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope, and that enables you to laugh at life's realities." Although not known as a Basshead, Dr. Seuss may have been onto something. A-Jay

What was your first confidence bait?
I had two - both thrown on spin cast gear, a seriously noodle fiberglass rod (that weighted 6 lbs - easy) & bad mono. I was like 7 years old. A Rigged Crème Scoundrel (had to be nightcrawler) and the Original Eppinger Dardevle Imp. First several years I didn't use a swivel - the line twist was Epic. Now, my confidence lure is just that; Confidence. A-Jay
