  1. Thank you I am familiar with the early season ice out water mix. However the OP indicated that this event occurred very recently (mid-June). At this point, water temps could be expected to be more stable. A-Jay
  2. Interesting. Seems like a perfect way to cripple a roster. #flacco Best of luck to them. A-Jay
  3. It floats at rest I It floats at rest. Not a walking bait at all. Constant retrieve or stop & go would be the way to go. A-Jay
  4. Turned over - In the spring ? This is not something I'm familiar with. Could you explain what happens ? Is it the same as the fall turnover ? A-Jay
  5. Perhaps - I always fire up the console first - let it lock in and then light up the bow unit. Interesting thought though - perhaps I'll stand on one leg - dance a little jig, chant an old native song first . . That might do it. A-Jay
  6. There were a few on flea bay for close to $50 American yesterday. I'd like to take a couple to Mexico - just to see what happens . . . . But I think I'll wait for the 3rd or 4th run when the $$ comes back to earth a bit. A-Jay
  7. I'm not a man that like to plan on hope either. Perhaps HB will put out an 'update to solve this. Because my units are 'in dash mounted', removal & shipping for repair will be a bit laborious. A-Jay
  8. Hello Ben and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ No doubt, the A-Rig's got a reputation for getting some Good Bass; although my person success with the rig has been something less than that. Looking forward to seeing & hearing about the Trophies you get. A-Jay
  9. I have a very similar set up and my Helix 10 SI at the bow just started doing the same thing ? May have been doing for a while but I wouldn't have know as I use the 360 at the bow and never the SI anymore. Noticed it last trip out scrolling thought the views. Otherwise the whole set up is operating correctly, as far as I can tell anyway. I bet @Wayne P. knows exactly what the deal is . . . A-Jay
  10. Freedom is good no matter how you look at it. A-Jay
  11. Swweeeeeeet ~ ! When Smallies smash a Deep Crank - you know it. Good Times Congrats A-Jay
  12. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ I was stationed in NJ & live in Cape May (exit 1) for a while. Beat up on the Stripers for Years . . . . Loved It ! A-Jay
  13. Lures & Baits are essentially tools & solutions to "problems" You'll be giving yourself the best opportunity at success when you use the right tool for the job. Occasionally there may be more than one. Then you get to fish the one you like. But in most every case, your lure needs to solve at least one (but often more than one) challenge. Could be but is certainly not limited to, getting deep, staying shallow, Staying on top, working effectively in cover, suspending, needs to be loud, needs to be quiet, needs to flash or rattle, needs to be subtle, and I haven't even mentioned anything about color or patterns yet. Those choices seem almost endless. So if you look at what "problems' you need your bait to solve, that could help lead you in the right direction as far as what baits to get & fish. Of course, this will most likely require you to learn a bit about each type of bait you may be interested in; including how, when, where & why it's used. Enjoy. A-Jay
  14. Couple of Chunks right there ~ Congrats A-Jay
  15. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Congrats on the new Rig A-Jay
  16. Sorry to hear that ~ Get what is comfortable in your hand and something that you can safely manipulate. I go with this A-Jay
  17. I'll admit to getting hooked once ~ ONCE - a LONG time ago. Since then, every fish hanging on treble hooks gets the Net and / or Boga Grip (or fish gripper) & hooks are removed with a pair of pliers or in my case hemostat type; never my fingers. A-Jay
  18. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Good Luck with your build. A-Jay

Hello & Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Nice Intro. As a Basshead from & living in the north, I'm thankful that I do not have to deal with those over-sized crocodilians. However, enduring this every year seems 'almost' fatal. A-Jay
  20. The original Bill Lewis Rat-L-Trap lipless bait that has been catching big bass for a long time. Initially being sold from the back of Mr. Lewis’s old Ford ‘rattletrap’ station wagon in the 1960’s, this iconic lure went on to be one of the best sellers ever. So although I’ve caught a bunch of great fish myself with this bait, and will continue to do so, I believe the Strike King Red Eye Shad is just a little bit better. I’m not exactly sure if this falls directly into the Knock-off category as these baits, despite both being ‘lippless’, their actions & fall rate are different and what is most likely responsible for each of their individual success. YMMV A-Jay
  21. X2 ~ Berkley Powerbait is the real deal - and at an 'extra' cost of around 15 cents a bait - it's well worth it. Certainly not magic but if you're Not using Megastrike - this is the next best thing. I'm with @ww2farmer on this one. A-Jay
  22. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ A-Jay
  23. Two possible solutions to the perception of 'too much tackle'. 1. Buy a bigger boat. 2. Sell some tackle and use the money . . . . . to buy more tackle. There ya go. A-Jay
  24. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Interesting and definitely a bummer deal for your first post. Sad Truth is - People Do Steal. Have to try not to give them the chance. A-Jay
