  3. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Congrats on your pending retirement - you'll no doubt enjoy it. As for your boat choice & questions, unfortunately I do not have enough experience with that platform to offer what you need, but there are plenty of great folks here who do. They will mostly likely be along here in a bit to hook you up. Good Luck A-Jay
  4. Nice Fatties ~ The frog bite is definitely worth waiting for. And I know what you mean about the wind blowing the line around while trying to fish a frog - sometimes it can be a real PIA. I'll try to cast straight down wind when I can to keep it from blowing the line under the pads - I hate that ! I would cast into it too but I'm a hack and I'd blow up every reel I have Congrats A-Jay
  5. Sounds like a decent deal & a good time. Congrats A-Jay
  6. I'd answer that question, as well as any others, honestly & in a manner that if I were the one conducting the interview & asking the questions, I'd expect. Attempting to schmooze one's way into a position seems like a bad idea. Very hard to go wrong being honest & up front. Then if & when you are hired, there are only realistic expectations between you & your new employer. Best of luck A-Jay
  7. Yes ~ And you're going to smile when you see the $$$ Check your PMs A-Jay
  8. Sometimes that's all you can do. A-Jay
  9. That rod is lure rated by the manufacture up to 1/2 oz. The SK 6XD weighs in at 1 oz. The 5XD is a 5/8 oz bait and that's about the top end of that rod's deal. btw - I have 3 of them & love every one. A-Jay
  10. Risk is a tricky deal and we all manage it in our own way. Personally, I prefer to eliminate most all of it that I can - with in reason. That's where one man may differ from another; like you & your friend. If there were an alternate (deeper water) access to that honey hole, I would consider it; regardless of the travel time lost. If not, I'd certainly travel at a safe speed. Again, my idea of that might be different from yours. As a friendly reminder, unless your vessel is equipped with seat belts or another type of safety restraint, when /if your vessel comes to a sudden and unexpected stop, the occupants do not. This is generally not a good thing. Finally, as mentioned all high speed boating comes with a certain amount of risk and yes one could strike an unseen or unmarked object even in the middle of a well marked channel. However, shallow flats are where these same floating objects go to die (hung up on the bottom in a foot or two) often barely visible, yet still treacherous. Very common after a high water event of any kind. So zipping through a place that comes very close to testing the limits of your vessels draft, despite being 'well marked', may come with a little more risk. YMMV A-Jay
  11. LOL ~ Well I'll tell you this my friend - there's another trip south of the border in the works for this fall. If the opportunity presents itself, I may just do that. Especially since that's the place to do it. And YOU Sir, can expect at least one photo. A-Jay
  12. End of Last season I caught my first ever December Bass (smallmouth). And on a trip early this season I caught 2 smallies that went over 11lbs ~ A-Jay
  13. Not exactly Lost ~ More like Chopped. Or maybe Skinned . . . . Still sad either way. A-Jay

If you fish treble hook baits, as others have mentioned, the rubber bag is the way to go. It will make the net 'heavier', but if you bring the fish to the net rather than the other way around, it's not really an issue. A-Jay

OK ~ Good to know. And then there's this ~ Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives. The bitterness of poor quality is remembered long after the sweetness of low price has faded from memory. A-Jay

Look at the Frabill Conservation Series. Good Net. A-Jay http://www.frabill.com/nets-accessories/conservation-series-nets.html
  24. I'll reposition to set myself up to make 'the best' presentation I can. How that works out depends on the current conditions, the depth of the cover, & the bait(s) I plan on presenting. Often I come back in a bit, other times I return at low light or night. I may drop a marker buoy in close proximity to help reacquire the spot in a timely manner, especially if it's small. I may use the trolling motor, the Talons or anchor up if I plan on camping out on it & it's deep. I recently added a 360 imaging unit to the trolling motor. Really helps in this situation as I can often 'find' it before running over it. Side imaging is decent here as well. A-Jay
  25. Sweet ~ And finally fishing in shorts & a T-Shirt Congrats So are the Waldos going swimming in the fat ? A-Jay
