  1. Here's some friendly advice ~ Repeatedly starting a dry outboard motor - even for a second ~ is Not as good Idea. It can damage your outboard's water impeller or at the very least, shorten it's life span which is only 2 or 3 years as it is. Good Luck with your battery purchase & subsequent installation. btw - a few digital images of the current battery & charger wiring may be helpful later as a reference. A-Jay

  5. Yes I tried it when it first came out ~ Now I do realize that it looks like it has potential and if you're thinking about it (as I did) you might not want to hear this but please read the next line carefully - You can thank me later. IT'S WORTHLESS. The whole deal is a PIA and has NO MERIT. It will NOT get you any more bites. A properly rigged & effectively fished standard Drop Shot is much better and all I need. YMMV. A-Jay
  6. I use these (and a few others) mostly south of the Border and yes the hooks are 1/0 & 1 and I use Owner Hyper wire rings - same size as noted above. btw - the SK 8XD is a solid producer (same hook upgrade); Bigger but not too big & the Duo Realis Crankbait G87 15A is good too. Haven't tried the 20A yet. A-Jay

  10. The Uni-Knot has many applications and when tied correctly is very effective. Knots do not necessarily have to be complicated to work well. I like simple. A-Jay
  11. I do believe you had it right ~ The #4 split ring & the #1 Treble go on the front and the #3 split ting & the #2 hook go on the back. I am a fan of an upsized treble in the front & usually a stock size in the back - Mustad ewg's for me. http://www.luckycraft.com/luckycrafthome/Products/crankbait/flatcbd20.htm A-Jay
  12. Although I do really like the JVD jerkbait (especially the deep one), my interest in this newest 'River Shiner' color was more along the lines of I just wanted to check it out. The currently convenient available color palate seems to cover my needs well (think yellow perch). Lastly the present stocks as well as the future projections, of 'River Perch' in the lakes I fish is surprisingly low. So, I'm good. A-Jay
  13. Yea, but what I didn't expect, is to have that darn song trapped in my head all day ~ Thanks ! A-Jay

And yet, Hacks like me & Pro's alike will probably continue to have that nasty skunk dude climb in the boat occasionally. I hate that little varmint. A-Jay

  20. Rage Craw 1) Is the most action packed Craw design on the market. With the slightest movement of the rod tip, the claws start flapping back and forth and create terrific action and vibration in the water. This versatile design lends itself to a variety of popular rigging techniques that have proven effective at the highest level on the Pro Fishing Tour. 2) The Rage Craw can be rigged with a variety of hook sizes and styles depending on the type of presentation you are looking for. The most popular is Texas rigged using a bullet weight from 1/8 oz to 1 oz depending on the amount of wind and water depth when fishing. ¼ oz is standard. For casting with a drag and stop, or lift and fall retrieve, an un-pegged weight is very popular. For flipping or pitching in brush or trees, a pegged weight is advised to keep the bait and weight together which helps you to better navigate the structure as well as provide a more vertical presentation. 3) Using the Rage Craw and Jig Trailer is very popular when a slightly larger or longer profile is desired over the standard chunk size trailer. This can be used on the standard skirted football, flipping or casting jigs, or on a stand up jig head as well. 4) Carolina rigged is also very effective using as light of a weight as necessary for the wind and depth conditions. This technique allows the bait to free swim at any and all depths which is very attractive to the fish. 5) Another up and coming rig is the Rage Rig using a keel weighted hook like the 1/4oz weighted Stroker swimbait hook from Moaner Hooks in 3/0, 4/0 or 5/0. This allows the bait to fall with a different profile and action and is extremely effective for finicky fish in shallow water and over grass or moss beds. Light or low wind conditions are best for this style of presentation. 6) Completely weightless using an EWG hook in the sizes mentioned below, gives an excellent finesse top water presentation that allows a gentle fluttering, flapping top action and lets the bait slowly fall in the grass pockets when needed. 7) Any of the popular hook designs are effective with the Craw which includes Standard offset worm hook and EWG hook. Preferred sizes are 3/0 to 4/0 in each. Click Here For More Rage Craw Information http://www.ragetail.com/news/rigging-info/ A-Jay
  21. Read this one recently ~ A lady was at the gas station in Hillman, MI shooting a video of the eagle flying around. A car pulled into the gas station and the people let their dog (Yorkshire Terrier) out to relieve himself when the eagle swooped in and grabbed the dog. The people with the dog I guess did not see the eagle. So basically it was caught on film by pure luck or bad luck depending on how you want to look at it. The picture was taken from the video. I personally was not there. Admittedly natural predation on domestic pets this is pretty unreal to actually get on film, when a smaller cat or dog mysteriously 'goes missing', it may happen more than many realize. ****disclaimer **** this came from the interwebz - so the whole thing has at least a decent chance of being total BS too. 22. Anyone know if & / or where this color River Shiner color is being sold ? Can't seem to recall seeing this one anywhere, wouldn't mind having a couple or three though .. .. .. .. A-Jay

  24. Perhaps inquire as to which dealer or where the original owner purchased & or had the boat serviced. Then a quick check through their service records could show if there was warranty work or perhaps 'other' service needed / performed. As a new platform, one would not expect much but it can't hurt to look. Buyer beware. Also, that hull is rated for 75 hp - don't know if the 60hp on a 1,000 lb plus hull is going to perform like you hope. Another reason why a test ride before the purchase may be desirable. Good Luck A-Jay
