It's not really a guide service ~ it's more along the lines of roller coaster ride at Six Flags - It starts out OK but then then it goes down hill Rapidly from there - and at the end of it, your hairs a mess and you've lost all your pocket change. A-Jay

Multiple rods on the boat deck
I can't argue with that mantra' but I had no intensions of trying to make the list all inclusive. With new rigs popping up all the time there was probably 2 or 3 that came to life just in the time it took me to type that one up. btw - don't forget to Wacky Rig your Spanky http://lunkercity.com/spanky.html A-Jay

Shakyhead Baits
My Shakeyheads are dragging around either a 6.5" BioSpawn PlasmaTail, or a 5" or 7" Reins Bubbling Shaker, or a 4" Erie Darter.(think Goby) Rarely fish a swing jig but when I do there's some kind of craw on it 99% of the time - the other 1% it's a fermented pickle. A-Jay

Lake''s PB
That's a great fish for sure. And clearly Lake, despite his limited experience, has demonstrated that he can easily & effectively fish a technique that some ( @Darren. ) have yet to master. A-Jay

Making the switch to braided
Try 30 or perhaps 40lb braid. The diameter will be closer to 10-12 lb mono and it will have quite a bit more strength to effectively present baits in light to moderate cover. If you're fishing heavy / matted vegetation you'll need to not only plus size the line but your gear will also need to go up in power appropriately as well. A-Jay

Rod or reel??
Thanks for the heads up ~ A-Jay

What's the lightest casting reel I can find for $100?
You do know that you can always use spinning gear to fish jerkbaits. Most any 6'10" to 7' medium spinning rod works well. Fast or x-fast seems about right. Sure would give that wrist a break as well. A-Jay

Boat Motor/Battery Question
Hello from up in Otsego County and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ I agree with @cfalco - I run two Mod 31's in this Old Town. And just as important as the battery is a decent charger - I use a couple of these, they work well Charge yours back to full as soon as possible and you'll be good to go. A-Jay

Foot Controlled CRASH - Plus a battery question.
First Off, although Optima makes a decent battery, that Red Top is a starting battery where the Blue top is a dual purposed product that handles Starting & deep cycle duties well. So choose wisely to ensure you're meeting your needs with this next purchase. Second - a 45lb thrust unit is on the lower end of what most full size boats use effectively. Don't know what size / type vessel you've got but I can tell you that a more powerful unit will encourage a quicker and more defined throttle response which can & often does make a world of difference, especially when building confidence & learning how to run it. I'd encourage you to Not fish while you're getting the feel for your TM. It can be some tricky business casting, & working the TM in tight quarters, especially in the wind. Either way, we all learn at our own pace and attempting to rush or speed up the process by putting yourself in maneuvering situations you're not ready to handle might only lead to frustration and possibly minor equipment damage. Take it slow. A-Jay

Standard Red Eye Shad vs. Tungsten 2 Tap ?
~ X2 This ^^^^^ and the 2-Tap may be better choice for yo-yo action deeper. Additionally although they both cast like a bullet, the 2-Tap was my choice last fall when I needed to launch casts through a 'stiff breeze'. All things being equal, the 2-tap seems to travel a bit further with the same or perhaps even a little less effort. A factor that pays dividends for this Old Hack come about hour 10 or 11 on the water. As for the 2-Tap getting more or less bites than the standard RES - I can't say on way or the other. They both produce well for me. A-Jay

Even Colder Muskies (three of them!)
"Might I add that I can see the buildings where I take classes from where I am catching these fish!" You don't need me to tell you how impressive that is - You are Well Aware ! Nice Job Congrats btw ~ when you combine your attached mutant muskie photos with your quoted text above - I'd say you'd have the makings of a fairly blinding distraction in that class every day. Multiple rods on the boat deck
Yea it is. LOL ~ I was trying to remember that one but CRS was getting the best of me - not uncommon. So it ended up coming out a little jacked up. And I'm not real sure about either rig but I think one involves a wacky rigged cheese curl and a fermented pickle. A-Jay

Has the term "flipping" replaced the term "pitching"?
