  1. Yes. It's the single most effective way I know to get on bass that are beat up all day - especially from the bank. It's proven effective for me for many years - over & over again. Usually same baits & often even the same places that were no fish deals during the day - can be banner at night. I've often slayed bass on a places that are swimming beaches during the day - but turn into bass beaches at night. A-Jay
  2. I used all the room I had available and then some. Slipped in 3 + 1 Blue Top Dual Purpose D31M's ~ plenty of juice. Cranking Battery is also benefitting from the Quad Pro A-Jay
  3. Hope everyone's OK but you'll not get any sympathy for this human shovel . . . . . . A-Jay
  4. This season this ^^^ worked for me on these fish. A-Jay
  5. I fish around Big Pike virtually every time I'm out on the water in very clear water. I use knottable leader quite a bit. I have landed some respectable pike & muskie with and without a leader. When I do not use it - sometimes I get bit off. When I do use it, I never get bit off. Doesn't seem to affect my catch rate with green or brown bass. I say use it if you're so inclined. A-Jay
  6. Cold Water Bass – We are always talking about how ‘lethargic’ bass can be and how the cold water slows down their metabolism. Accordingly, the advice most often given to would be cold water bassheads is to ‘slow it down’ - fish that jerkbait with a good pause. Slowdown that jig presentation. Don’t over work that lipless bait. Reduce the size of the hop on that tube; maybe even want to drag it. I’ll say at one time or another, I prescribe to just about all of that. And for good reason; I’ve caught some very respectable bass in cold water doing it. So the other day I watched a video shot by Aaron Wiebe host of the Uncut Angling Youtube channel. (Great channel btw) Anyway, he was ice fishing up in Manitoba. The AquaVu footage, besides being pretty cool, showed very clearly just how slow bass are in cold water. Obviously, the presentations mentioned above are not for ice fishing, and although the water temps I’m fishing in early season are warmer than the ice water shown, sometimes it's not by much. I think these images can help to demonstrate to (or remind) us Bassheads, just what a ‘slowed down bass’ looks & acts like. It really does look like slow motion. I do believe that although the bass I’m fishing for early season are definitely ‘warmer’ and seem a bit more active than the fish shown here, I think that seeing this can help remind me to fish appropriately ( slow), especially after the first fish catch of the day, which often sees me starting to want to fish a little faster; and then wondering why I'm not getting bit anymore. I started the video at a spot to show the slow motion bass - but the rest of the video is certainly worth watching. A-Jay
  7. Sounds like you are on them – the 12 inch ones. If this is all you’re getting regardless of what you throw, and you are not pleased with that, perhaps try fishing places you don’t normally fish. Sometimes it’s hard to pull yourself away from ‘biting bass’, but if you’re not getting what you want, you’re probably going have to change something. This time of year I may not relocate to avoid small bass but other times of the year I will. Either way, the bait’s you’re using seem OK – they are getting bites – so present the same baits somewhere else. You can catch Nothing (or dinks) anywhere, might as well give it a shot. If steep banks are what you’ve been trying mostly, try this; wait until at least mid-day and fish through whatever would be the warmest part of the day. Present what you’re confident in to sun baked, and windblown (not hurricane) flats immediately adjacent to deeper water. Don't be afraid to fish thin water, especially if the water has recently (or that day) warmed up a few degrees). Sometimes the north end of the lake fits the bill here (with a south breeze). Finally a tube is a decent bait, easy to fish, decent hook up to strike ratio, and very reasonably priced. A-Jay

  13. When a grown man makes a conscious decision to conduct himself in a certain manner In Public, there can be no expectation of privacy. So documenting & sharing the experience is perfectly acceptable - at least in my book. Conversely, I have no problem with anyone documenting anything I do in public, all I ask is that they kindly refrain from including GPS coordinates. There's no shame in that. A-Jay
  14. Why should I be the only one slowly sinking my boat with all the added weight ? AJay
  15. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ There will no doubt be varying opinions on this one. I prefer a football type head most of the time depending on the type / size rocky bottom I'm fishing. AJay
  16. You did the right thing - in the end you'll still be you and he'll still be him - which apparently must be quite a sad deal. I'd highly encourage a picture of said Knuckle head with what ever you have available (Phone, camera, GoPro) and perhaps video would be even better. (especially if it was somehow done incognito) And then Plaster it all over social media - someone in your area is bound to recognize this fine human - The curse filled rant would probably be rather entertaining for the rest of us socially acceptable people. 20. When I'm fishing new water from the bank or a boat, rather than searching for bass, I'm usually looking for signs of life, bait, and most importantly, Spots. Spots with access to deeper water (relative term on any body of water) as well as suitable structure & or cover to offer the bass something to hold on to And something that can hide me from the bass sufficiently so I can present a bait undetected; especially when I'm on the bank. Drop offs, over hangs, under cut banks, trees, weedlines, pads, reeds, rocks, docks, logs, boats, even pollen on the water can fit the bill. If I am familiar with the body of water and have had some success there in the past, my mission is always the same, I'm looking for the biggest bass I can catch, from the bank of from a boat. My approach will change with the situation, but the mission rarely does. I usually have an idea of what I want to fish, how I want to fish it and when I want to fish it before I arrive but again that is a totally fluid situation and one that can & often does change once I arrive or afterward if the conditions change. From the bank, it's all about timing for me. Except for the spawn, there is often a fairly short window where "That Bass" is available & vulnerable to my presentation. Whenever that time is, I want to ensure that I am there well in advance, with the right bait and presentation. Now this could be anytime of the day, but most often is low light, early and or late in the day or even at night. Whenever it is, I want to be there with a big fish bait. And for me, from shore that's almost always something with a decent profile, a sharp stout hook(s) and is reasonably weedless. A Texas rigged plastic, a jig, a swimjig, a spinnerbait, a chatterbait, & a frog or some other weedless topwater are what I most often think of as my go-to baits for this. Just as important is the right, balance tackle, with a properly set drag, and a reel spooled up with line I trust that's tied with a knot(s) I have supreme confidence in. I'm usually only going to get ONE CHANCE to do this right and I am willing to put in whatever effort it takes to put as many odds as I can in my favor. Despite all that, there are times when there are only a few bites, or no bites or on those special & most memorable days there could be size & numbers caught. Either way, I can feel and I fish confidently knowing that if & when it happens, I'm reasonably ready, but I still might poop my pants. So as far as 'searching" - that's what I'm searching for. A-Jay
  21. Perfect ~ And if we just kept 'falling back' I think we'd all keep getting younger .. .. .. .. That'd be sweet. A-Jay
  22. Me too ~ I've even given it out as Gifts to several family members & friends. And "Ray the UPS Driver" and I are very well acquainted .. .. .. Nice Guy. A-Jay
  23. Just an fyi and you may already know this but didn't mention it - Every Vision 110 on this site is "used" . May not matter if the baits are in perfect condition - but this is one lure where being a little out of whack is a problem. http://stores.ebay.com/total-fishing-tackle-shop/Megabass-/_i.html?_nkw=vision+110&submit=Search&_fsub=3664467016&_sid=1013542996 A-Jay
