  1. What ? - No Jerkbait ? ? ? - I am seriously having trouble breathing right now .. .. .. .. .. A-Jay
  2. Nice work Tom. Bet that felt OK. I'll admit to being guilty of having what sometimes ends up to be a decent pile of rods on deck, but that's just because I'm a Hack. And I smell what you're cooking Tom. The "TV" bass angler has played a decent role in more than a few different ways IMO. And for the anglers who have grown up watching them and their success, that's just the way it's done. I'd include the following on the list; No Net use, Boat Flip only. Never even try to play a fish, just Speed reel it all the way to the boat. (water ski that bass) What's an anchor ? Trolling motor on ALL DAY - especially before the advent of shallow water anchoring systems ( btw I love mine). Screaming like a limp has been lost after a fish catch - Thanks Ike. Then there's the names of everything - Power Fishing, Dock Fishing & Junk Fishing (first time I heard that one I got a little nauseous) Finesse Fishing & Structure Fishing. Before this I think it was all just fishing - didn't really matter where I was casting or if I had any power or junk. And let's not forget all "the Rigs" - Where Texas & Carolina may have started it all - Ned, Do-Nothing, Chicken, Neko, Split Shot, Jako, Rage, Wacky, Doodle Dong, (alright I made that one up - or did I ?) and the A or Umbrella Rigs. And I have no problem with most all of it, (well, except for the post catch screaming like a sea bird one, not a fan), just as long as I get to do it, doesn't matter what it's called. A-Jay

  7. So that's where jerkbaits go to die then. I always wondered. Might be time to fish a fluke. A-Jay
  8. Have not seen nor fished this one ~ But I'm thinking maybe Vibrating Jig / Chatter bait Trailer. A-Jay
  9. Didn't mention this in my previous post but I could not possibly agree more ! The Old Town is a Great Option now. A-Jay
  10. Mine do - These are a custom product made by Tuffskinz http://www.tuffskinz.net/ They also did that cover for the 200 Opti as well. Quality products both and they are designed so they can be left on during operation which I do from time to time. Always use them both for long highway travel. A-Jay
  11. I talked extensively with the man who was doing the install on the Lund at the dealership. Face to Face. Additionally, I was At The Dealership / in the shop when they did the install. They invited me to be there so we could all be on the same page & get it right. So, I watched it; along with the in-dash mounts of both electronics and the Fortrex installation. I LEARNED A TON ! I know what they did, how & why they did it, and where everything is run. INVALUABLE if you ask me. A-Jay
  12. Much of my USCG career was spent right in the middle of the boating crowd. Never a dull moment. Now a retired human, I made a conscious decision to live in a place – well, let’s just call it rural. Even still, during the peak of summer and the boating season, many lakes see quite a bit of action. Accordingly and as mentioned above, during peak user hours, the challenges associated with the parking wars & crazy boat ramp antics are often in full bloom. The simplest solution for me is to be on & off the water, well before & or after the insanity. Mid-week is often pretty good (Wed & Thurs). I usually will not even go out on weekends in the summer – it’s just not worth the hassle. Choosing instead to do whatever needs to be done (domestically & landscape wise) over the weekend in order to open that next week up. I’ll either get on the water a couple of hours before grey light, fish until about an hour after sunrise & then bail. The other option is to get on the water @ 3 or 4 pm and stay out until midnight or so. Both of these moves are designed to avoid the boat ramp circus that routinely occurs in the morning & again right before sunset. Of course the ultimate in peak season best fishing, when available & at least for me, is to fish exclusively at night. Getting to and launching 2 hours after sunset, fish all night and then depart before anyone even knows you were there – it’s the ultimate in “Having the lake to yourself”. May not be for everyone. But instead of getting bummed out about the Barnum & Bailey Boat Brigade, the intoxicated tube towers squad & the Kamikaze Jet ski patrol, the cool dark nights are something I really look forward to every year. Best part of all of this is that the “busy” season here really only lasts about 10 weeks or so. A-Jay
  13. @Craig Sellers ~ here's a couple of pic of my Talon install. Includes standard mounting bracket connected to unit & the Tilt Bracket sandwiched between the 6 inch 'spacer', then mounted to the transom. Makes for a clean & operationally effective installation. A-Jay
  14. As a Mark Zona fan, I watched & did enjoy it. Besides the 'entertainment', there were a few decent nuggets of info one could benefit from which is why I watched it. I do really like G Hackney's style and No nonsense approach. There is an episode scheduled next month that is rumored to include that KVD guy. Haven't heard where they are fishing yet but I'll be tuned in to that one too. Unless I'm on the water myself then. But I've sort of forgotten what that's like at this point .. .. .. .. .. .. A-Jay
  15. Sweet ~ Seems the BR Sponsor list gets longer & More Distinguished every day. I like it. A-Jay

  17. I don't know This could be Big. Let's Do This. A-Jay
  18. Inside. Mounting Hardware on the outside are sufficiently supported by the mounting brackets for the units. The back plate foot print may end up being contingent on space available. In some cases a big washer may be all there is room for. However, even that at a minimum, is considerably more desirable than the alternative. A-Jay Nice - I'll put up some pic's on my tilt hardware set up tomorrow. It's a little different deal. Either way the tilt function was a need for me not an option. Storage inside was a must. Works well. A-Jay
  19. I couldn't help it ~ And you'll be glad to know that I'm starting a new tackle testing business. So send me any lures or even rods that you would like to have 'tested'. I'll snap them all in half and get them right back in the mail to you. And all for a very reasonable rate - plus shipping & handling of course. SSOA. A-Jay
  20. Nice Teaser ~ And I didn't even realize you had been nominated . . . . . A-Jay
  21. I'll admit to being a bit of a fair weather Rapala bait fan - some I have work well, others not so much. And I'll accept at least half the blame there - both ways. But the video included in this thread of the human bending the jerkbait & breaking it ? ? ? That simulates exactly nothing in my fishing. That whole production gets my "Snapperhead Seal of Approval" Which from this point forward will be abbreviated with the acronym SSOA. A-Jay
  22. The Kuhneutson Valves are all on sale in limited numbers and are being offered on a first come first serve basis. Totally improves the performance of any outboard. http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=47 And don't forget to upgrade the often over looked Johnson Rod - no one's happy when this thing gives out. http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=12&products_id=46&zenid=8qA0r3pferWuLraMBtQhC2 Yup ~ Still the middle of March. A-Jay
  23. Go back in time and add 4 or 5 inches to Tommy Biffle's shorts - Please. A-Jay
