  2. I hear that ~ And a good bit of the butchery noted here can be attributed to northern pike. Accordingly, this as well as many of the pike magnet baits I throw, are fished behind a foot or so of knottable wire. A-Jay
  3. Bass Pro shops usually has them and they often have color patterns not found else where. And as luck would have it, are currently on sale. http://www.basspro.com/Strike-King-KVD-Rattling-Square-Bill-Crankbaits/product/10209674/ A-Jay

That was an impressive school of Smallies he got on. And they that were serious about choking that jerkbait he was throwing. I did particularly enjoy the "Crazy Laugh" he was doing after like the 30th or 40th fat bass. That's the kind of crazy I can relate to. A-Jay
  6. Although it may not be popular in the US - South of the border, a 7 inch senko riding on the back of a jig is common practice. This fish ate a black & blue one. A-Jay

I really like the show and the format quite a bit. I make a concerted effort to watch every show. (DVR) The one exception being that although I actually have talked to the guy at shows and do genuinely like him in person, I do not like Ike's over the top foolishness on camera, it's irritating and seriously detracts from what is other wise an entertaining 60 minutes of TV. As for the size of a score able bass, I see why they do it and I don't totally disagree with the premise. However, having 6 guys beat docks for 12 inch bass gets old fast. I'd like them to impose a rule change where at the start of each period there is a "target size bass" that has to be caught before any of the other score able bass can be placed on the score tracker. Maybe like a 2lb fish in the first period and then a 3lb fish for the 2nd & third periods. Just something that would make guys get off the deliberate dink fest they routinely seem to get on just to keep up. They obviously have the skill. A-Jay
  11. Got ya. Sometimes it takes a little time for the light to come around and shine on my mostly marble head. And ~ I could totally do that. I've got that kind of time. A-Jay

  13. It was a Gold Sexy Shad before the carnage ~ and this pic is 2 years old. Although it still runs & fishes perfectly, it's condition has been down graded to 'seriously wrecked' and it's missing an eye. I have replacement eyes but kind of like the 'distressed look'. A-Jay

  19. I have Exactly One bait, that is supposed to be silent but instead clicks a little. This is it. . Clearly whatever's going on inside there is an accident and although I've purchased a few more with the hopes of reproducing the 'magic' - it hasn't happened & probably never will. So all that means is there is No WAY I'm going to knock, whack, smack or even flick this bait in any way that might "Fix" something that in the minds of the couple hundred bass that have totally swallowed it, does not exist. I may even consider storing it in bubble wrap. A-Jay
  20. You may be onto something. Might explain why some baits are just better producers. Beyond the difference between, the RES traditional rattle, the silent bait & now the 2-tap, if there is a subtle difference, I'll admit that it is well beyond anything I can detect. And where I do believe that the size, color, flash, profile, sound & vibration all play some role in peaking a bass's interest in the bait, many of the bites I get with these lures come on the fall. So whatever is going on with the bait for that brief moment in time must be fairly critical as well. A-Jay

  22. The below info came from this link ~ http://outboard-manuals.com/Engine_Break-In.html A-Jay ENGINE BREAK-IN The first 10 hours are critically important to ensure correct running of either a brand new motor or a motor that has been reconditioned or rebuilt. How the motor is operated during this time will have direct bearing on its life span and long-term durability. Break-in period : 10 hours WARM-UP RECOMMENDATION Allow sufficient idling time (more than 5 minutes) for the engine to warm up after cold engine starting . THROTTLE RECOMMENDATION NOTE: Avoid maintaining a constant engine speed for an extended period at any time during the engine break-in by varying the throttle position occasionally. 1. FIRST 2 HOURS For first 15 minutes, operate the engine in-gear at idling speed. During the remaining 1 hour and 45 minutes, operate the engine in-gear at less than 1/2 (half) throttle (3000 r/min). NOTE: The throttle may be briefly opened beyond the recommended setting to plane the boat, but must be reduced to the recommended setting immediately after planning. 2. NEXT 1 HOUR Operate the engine in-gear at less than 3/4 (three-quarter) throttle (4000 r/min). 3. LAST 7 HOURS Operate the engine in-gear at desired engine speed. However, do not operate continuously at full throttle for more than 5 minutes.

  24. Sorry to hear your wrist pain was worse using your spinning tackle. I'm using a Shimano Stradic Ci4+ that weighs 6 oz. on a St Croix 6'10" LTB that weighs 3.9 oz. I don't know what rod you're throwing but that Mitchell 308 weighs 9 oz by itself - A-Jay
