  1. The absence of facts (common definition) might turn this discussion into a debate of opinions. In my mind this whole subject is on a list that includes this guy. A-Jay

  6. I am certainly willing, however my experience over that way has all been in the Lund. I've not been on the smaller kayak-able lakes in that local. So with out any practical experience, any 'knowledge' is based solely on local lore - and you know how that goes. A-Jay
  7. This is exactly why I ordered the unit. A-Jay
  8. You don't say .. .. .. .. .. .. .. WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY EVENING... The National Weather Service in Gaylord has issued a WINTER STORM WATCH, which is in effect from late Wednesday night through Thursday evening. * TIMING...Rain will change to a wet snow late Wednesday night, with the snow continuing through the day on Thursday. The snow will taper off from northwest to southeast late Thursday evening. * MAIN IMPACT...Heavy, wet snow is expected to accumulate across northeast Lower Michigan with the potential for 6 to 8 inches along and southeast of a line from Cadillac to Alpena. Locally higher amounts will be possible. Lesser amounts are expected closer to Lake Michigan as well as Saginaw Bay. Travel will become hazardous due to snow covered and slippery roads. * OTHER IMPACTS...Strong northerly winds will develop on Thursday, gusting up to 45 mph at times. Areas of blowing snow will lead to reduced visibilities for motorists. In addition, these strong winds combined with heavy, wet snowfall may lead to tree damage and scattered power outages. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant snow...sleet...or ice accumulations that may impact travel. Potential for A-Jay Inebriation is considerably high. A-Jay
  9. Don't know if it's "The Best" but I ordered this one last week. Should be here tomorrow - reviews are decent. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016UG6PWE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Preferred to have a unit that was rated sufficiently for the Boat (3.0 L) and the Truck (6.2 L). 10. I did quite a bit of this last weekend - then it snowed ~ #premature. btw - you said 'doofey' - haven't heard that one in a while. I like it. Describes me perfectly. A-Jay
  11. Nice ~ I call that the 'PM' pattern ~ stands for Poach Master. I'm not a fan. But you did say you were fishing with your friend, so working together to find the bass might be a good plan. Then you can both have fun catching bass. A-Jay
  12. Dude ~ What 's New ? - There list is long .. .. .. .. .. .. Good to see ya back - hope you can stick around. btw - you're directly responsible for me finding this most outstanding site (through a youtube video) - So Thank You Sir ! These were All Classics. A-Jay
  13. Back from the Grave ~ The Biovex baits are earning more & more time in the water for me. A-Jay
  14. I'm a fan of the nose hooking deal as well. And I'll take it next level with the Owner CSP spring. (sm & med works here) A-Jay

Nice Bass ~ PB's are Always a Blast Congrats A-Jay
  16. No I didn't. I don't believe they announce in advance of perspective locals to avoid whatever that brings. I would liked to have known though. I'd a followed a few of them around (from a distance). Maybe even poached one of them pretty good just to let them know their loved and of course - to get on TV. Probably would have ended up on the cutting room floor, especially if the moon came out. A-Jay
  17. Most all the lakes up here are routinely very clear- 12 feet plus so less than that is not the norm. Grand Lake too. Can't say why it was dirty as the wind blows like that all the time. Usually a big rain can color it up. And sometimes the color is good and sometimes not so much. It does allow me to fish shallow cover from closer range but there's not a lot of it and without time to find it, unless one bumps into it it's unlikely you'd find it. Those spot are Gold for me and produce most all season. Just have to adjust the presentation. A-Jay

  19. In advance of my response here, I'd like to say that I do not fish competitively so I've won nothing. My response is based solely on my experience on the waters here as to what works there for me. (works being a relative term) So for the baits mentioned, in the conditions the anglers had, spinnerbaits are good but seem to be best when really burned. Some of what I've learned prompted me to post this And as for depth, Deeper running, larger Lipped Jerkbaits have been a better option for me. And they seem to produce more in the warmer months if they are worked fast & hard - especially for SMB. The typical technique looks a lot like what KVD did the last day of this recent Classic. A lipless bait has been good to me there. Cover's water & a heavier one can be fished lower in the water column. But remember, I'm a hack who gets skunked just as much as anyone - difference is, I've got some time on that water, which these anglers are not afforded. With Crawfish as a staple forage, a medium-deep running crayfish looking bait burned & ground into the bottom, at the first or second drop / break (12-15 ft) is often very good. (Spro Rock Crawler or 5XD) So deep & fast. A-Jay
  20. I watched it - and what was very cool is I fish that lake. Really enjoyed watching them working for their fish - just like I do. My experience there, for that time of year - says they were all fishing Too Shallow & too slow. But like so many of these MLF derbies, when they can't find them, someone Always runs inside to fish for dock dinks - really weak. A-Jay
  21. I noticed that too Tom ~ It's the great bait No One throws - You Know though. I'm good with that. A-Jay
  22. The capper of a 5 day trip south of the border in 2013 came on the third day late in the afternoon. While fishing a ¾ ounce SK Redeye Shad (Sexy Shad) in front of some bushes on a “nothing” bank, I hooked what eventually turned out to be a new PB. The fish hit like a freight train and immediately ran for the bushes, I managed to turn her. Next she went way under the boat attempting to get free, I managed to foil that one. Then in a last ditch effort she went straight for the trolling motor. I thumbed the spool & she didn't make it, leaving this now less inspired Trophy bass nowhere to go but in the net. Once our guide Manual placed the net bag onto the deck, with my heart just about pounding right out of my chest, the bait fell from the fish’s mouth. Seriously lucky for sure and quite a rush. This fish weighed 11lbs 11 ounces was caught on Nov 11th (11-11) ~ that's going to be a hard one to forget. After getting a weight, photos and successful release, I had to take several minutes to collect myself – I had a bit of the shaky hands thing going on. It was cool. By now the sun had just about set and once I could no longer feel my pulse in my face, I went back to fishing. The magic continued on my very next cast. As an 8 -14 bass sucked down that redeye shad and again, the fight was on. To tell you the truth, I don’t really even remember that fight very well, sort of a blur. I was still pretty numb from the previous events. Somehow the fish ended up in the net, there was a weight and some pictures taken in the dark and then she was released. That’s 20.5 lbs of Mexican Bass in two casts. It was like dream – the good kind. A-Jay
