  1. Thank You ~ That seems a little weird. Rather than using a factor from the day before, why not use the heaviest fish from that days competition ? Yesterday's deal is over & done with & has nothing to do with what happened today: unless you're just trying to put the fan favorite thru . . . I like KVD and have always been a Huge fan; even use quite a bit of his signature gear but that tie-breaker is a head scratcher for me. A-Jay

  5. I just got in (today action is done) Looks like KK & KVD BOTH had 11 lbs. but the bracket results have KVD moving on. How did B.A.S.S. settle the tie-Breaker ? A-Jay
  6. Ish May have been returning the favor. A-Jay
  7. Hello Skooter and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Although Trespassing is not condoned here, the Bird Shot in the Butt might not be worth it. A-Jay

  9. Please know that this hull is not a race inspired design - It's either rough water capable or flat water high speed - but not both . . . With the broke in 200 OptiMax and 21p Tempest Plus at WOT ~ I'm getting 58 mph That's with a full tanks of gas (36 gals) way too much gear & Four - mod 31 batteries with twin talons offering all kinds of wind resistance. And that was all Down Hill . . . A-Jay
  10. Seemed to make a difference today ~ A-Jay

  13. If part of your Newness to bass fishing includes learning to use & especially cast a rod & reel, starting out with spinning gear may get you into fish a little faster. For when compared to revolving spool (bait casting) gear, spinning gear generally has a shorter learning curve which is a polite way of saying it's often easier to learn to use effectively. As for purchasing casting gear; if you've not used it (and even if you have) purchasing a brand name unit, slightly above what is generally considered entry level may offer an angler something with decent quality where a reasonable expectation of success can be anticipated. Casting gear can be a little trick to learn and a bit better unit helps. Some of the more popular brands include but are not limited to include, Shimano, Diawa, Quantum, Lews, Okuma, ABU Garcia, Pinnacle, & Pflueger. Casting or spinning gear slightly above entry level (and of course beyond) from any of these is usually solid. Best advice may be to make a trip to your local sporting goods store and chack some out on person. A-Jay

  15. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ As an admitted new & inexperienced Bass angler, it's a good idea seeking the advice of those who have been down the road ahead of you. However, instead of offering choices that you made using little experience, perhaps tell us where & what type of waters you plan of fishing and what your "super tight budget" actually is. Then you'll no doubt get a much better list of choices that will certainly meet and most likely exceed your expectations. Good Luck and again Welcome A-Jay

  22. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Detailing stability specs is a little tough without some more info. Perhaps offering a few of the Brand, Make & Models you're considering would help. Generally a 16ft V loaded with two 200 lb humans & their gear is a fairly full boat. Staying within the recommended load limits and out of waters that go beyond the vessels limitations & drivers ability allows one to get the most out of the stability any hull offers. Good Luck with your search & purchase. A-Jay
  23. The common & popular idea of starting with a moving bait or search type technique / presentation looking for "active fish" is a proven tournament style approach that has helped many anglers cash a check. But for the recreational small water angler I'll say there's something better. Instead of working the water into a froth by machine gunning a hundred casts all over the pond and almost certainly alarming every probably very wary bass there of your presence, slow down a minute cowboy. . . . . . . . . Before making a single cast anywhere, select the area or spot on the pond that you believe holds the biggest bass. Then, choose the best bait you have for the conditions. One that has big fish appeal and one you know you can present very effectively. (For me that's often a Jig & Craw) Now make your best & most accurate cast to those areas / spots. Do this each time you relocate to the next area. By not beating the heck out of the same spot on the pond with buzzbaits, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, rattlebaits, and all of that noise, while "looking for active fish", you may have a better opportunity to get a strike from the bass you're actually looking & hoping for. Give this a shot - you've got nothing to loose, except perhaps some skin from your thumb. Good Luck A-Jay
