What's a good price for this Ranger Bass Boat?
I always smile when I read this type of for sale ad. From the OP's link ~ "I bought this boat because I thought I would use it - turns out that I just want to get back into a deep- V aluminum rig so I am letting her go to a good home. Please don't call or write me with the NADA value - I don't care what they put in their books - they know nothing about this boat or its condition and the care put into it. I will consider offers - please don't be insulted if I say no. The boat is paid for and I do not have to sell it. That being said...I just reduced the price and would someone to appreciate and use her. Thanks for looking!" And I do agree with the seller -in as much as I don't care what the NADA value is or what the seller is "Asking" - because when selling a used ANYTHING - the items resale value is determined by what a buyer is willing to pay and that is only determined on the day it is sold. A seller can ask for the world but inevitably the buyer determines it value. Sometimes it's more than what the seller expected, but often times it's less. A sellers motivation to sell can be driven by many different factors. When things like ones Time, available Space & Money begin to or continue to be negatively effected by no sale, a seller often begins to recognize the reality that the Asking price is just that - asking. As the motivation to sell increases often the for sale price decreases. A good deal is nice to find but a good used boat is hard to find. If it's a clean as it looks, You may want to consider buying it, selling that O/B and repowering it with more HP. Good Luck A-Jay Nice ~ A-Jay

Work problems
There's a very good chance your employer is very aware of what they are asking you to do. When changes are made that obviously adversely affect productivity (not to mention disrupting employee morale) one has to ask Why ? Doesn't sound like your employer is interested in keeping you happy, only getting this new procedure going. Also doesn't seem like you're interested in riding it out either. Maybe you could go work for the "Competition" ~ sometimes that's a nice way to level the playing field. Either way, sounds like the writing's on the wall - . . . . . Good Luck A-Jay

Lead or Tungsten
These response cover how I also select my weight type. Additionally, when presenting a bottom bait to a soft or grass bottom, I usually use small lead. Hard bottom or penetrating cover - it's tungsten. Tungsten is very hard - lead is soft - the extra sensitivity tungsten offers can be applied advantageously. The size to weight comparison between lead & tungsten is significant. In most cases Tungsten is 40% smaller than the same weight in lead. When combined with braided line, tungsten's size & sensitivity differential has helped improve many of my presentations especially deep & / or in heavy cover. A-Jay

Tons of Bass in this lake, no bites though in a YEAR!!!
Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ When considering the information you've provided - I'm inclined to believe that these fish you see may not actually be bass. Some supplemental info could help . . . Where (state) is this lake ? What do you think the bass there are eating ? Are there other game fish in the lake & have you caught them ? Have you seen bass spawning in the shallows ? A-Jay

Toughest Mono Line
A few thoughts ~ The WP 130 and a Savage Gear 6" Line Thru swim bait both weight less than 1.5 ounces - The occurrence of losing larger bait's on the cast while using braid is real, however may be a non issue in your particular instance. Most of the anglers who fish larger baits (and 1.5 oz is relatively small in comparison) are using revolving spool gear (bait casting). When a backlash stops the bait abruptly - the sudden shock parts the line. So many advocate the use of mono which is better suited to handle that situation without parting. Since you're using spinning gear, unless you're dead set on trying to break the record for distance on every cast, a simple lob will give you plenty of fish catching distance but will rarely result in a break off unless you're using very light line (braid or Mono) IMO a 30 size reel for your needs here is undersized. I'd recommend the 40 size. I'd also not advise putting 20 - 30 lb mono on a 30 or a 40 size spinning reel. I'd recommend a quality 40 or 50 lb braid - ***** point of interest ~ more important than the advertised / rated pound test here will be the diameter of the line. Some of the newer braids are being presented as 40 & 50 lb test but have a diameter that is very thin - too thin for your needs. I'd look for a quality line that's in the .013 or .014 inches / .33 or .34 millimeters range - that will offer a good mix of size, strength & shock absorbing ability to do what you'll need & want it to. Good Luck A-Jay
