Fishing from shore look for rocky points that jet out as they go deeper. Dog leg shaped inlets. Areas were you can cast parallel to the shoreline. My pb of 10lbs was 2’ from shore. You can do it just be stealthy.

I put my hardbaits in my tacklebox but when I get home my tacklebox is left open so everything that’s wet dries out. My older baits still look like brand new. with my used plastics they go in a zip loc bag I keep the used plastics away from my used plastics. i don’t put plastics in with my hardbaits. The salts in the plastics will rust the metal on the hardbaits. I use a seperate box or bag for plastics only.

The big bass are out there. My pb of 10pounds opened my eyes that we do have bigger bass up north. I fish were man made dams were used for water power probably 150 years ago to grind corn. I’m at my favorite spot looking in the water and see bigger bass than my 10lber swim by me at the drop off. I always wear my polarized glasses and scan the water. I constantly watch behind my baits too. I’m convinced that every body of water holds big bass this is why we have a endless supply of bass fry. It’s the bigger gals that are stocking our smaller places too. I been out there 24/7 for three months straight just fishing. Sooner or later we have to see something out of the ordinary. I’m out there at 4am and at twilight I see freshwater otters at every place I fish. They are there then there gone every morning. They don’t seem to effect the bass fishing. All I can say is stay going. Be stealthy, make no noise, don’t talk, don’t make noise with your tackle box, tackle. My tackle box has never been kept so neat, I only use a very small flash lite too. A double AAA or single AA flashlite. I only shine it under the lid of my tackle box. I don’t let the glow of excess light hit the water. It’s like I’m not there. I was on the 2 to 6 lb bass in the evenings. When I switched to fishing in the dark till light the fish got bigger. Less people fishing means less noise, bigger bass. Trust me we all have bigger bass there not being caught. There was some posts from Maine were they caught bigger bass. Even with their shorter summer they have bigger bass. fish harder.

Well I’m on a orange color bait kick now. I ordered every spike it orange color they offered in non scented and garlic scented they had. Even some orange colored paint. After reading here and watching the you you tube videos I’m hooked on trying the whooper ploppers too. I ordered different sizes and colors to try.

I’m a diabetic and to keep my sugar level up I carry chocolate but enjoy the pb&j sammich. I do get the weak feeling after so many casts. When I rode dirtbikes we did three, hour and a half loops. At the end of each loop it was a pb&j sammich with chocolate. I had regular sugar soda just Incase my sugar went too low. Any exercise eats up sugar. After being a diabetic for 25 years type II my recent eye exam I was told my eyes look great for having diabetes for 25 years. Not everyone is the same but it works for me.

In the springtime when the bass start to move before the spawn there in the most northern part of the body of water were the sun shines longer so it’s warmer. I’m thinking they do this in the fall too. But as the temps drop I feel they move to where the PH is the best. when I lost a big bass during the snow flurries she was in the shallow flats. It was cold and I had my insulated hunting gear on.

We had snow flurries the other night. (Explain later) my first choice is the yum money minnow using a dying minnow twitch. Little short snappy twitches. When it comes to colors I’m a color freak. What color works the best you ask? Any color could catch bass but the correct color could load the boat sort of speak. colors to start with,,, bass green silver chartruese bone orange if you can find one. A orange colored bottom helps too even with crankbaits. Presentation is the key to success, a 1, 2, 3 twitch n pause. Or a slow walk the dog. dont forget the torpedo with the props a slow reel like a wake bait. dont be afraid to change colors.

I used a lure retriever years ago from the low bridge it worked. My problem can be those diving trees they time it right to dive and catch my lures. They can move in front of me at anytime.

I only buy siebert jigs. I have his spinnerbaits but I haven’t used them yet. I’m still sic.

I need to do the peg board for plastics too. I hope to do it over the winter. i need a elevator I can’t do stairs.

I see lures for $19 , $25 it kills me. When the caustiac 9” rainbow trout lures came out they were $30. When the hype died down I found them for $9 each.

Me too I worked that sameway raking leaves, cutting grass, selling my lunch at school to buy fishing stuff. It probably taught us good work ethics in the process. im incharge of my grandsons toys. I got him his first dirtbike at 5yo. For $200. At 7yo he’s almost ready to move up to the next size. I don’t mind.

Don’t forget the perfume with those fish nets and high heels. Garlic is the flavor of the month. the new baits look interesting, but I carry mainly the older brands and colors which still work today. The craw colors in crankbaits. The reds, browns, greens, chartruese, etc still work. the yum money minnow, the senko type baits, worms in black shad, red shad, black, electric blue, baby bass(two tone green), brushog in red, brown, electric blue, etc. the best, the most fish catcher bait of all time is probably a split shot rigged 6” black worm. Remember getting back to basics on a slow day. i just ordered the rattle trap stutter step, so soon I’ll post the results.

Do you think the lure manufacturers are pricing themselves out of business? Let’s face it maybe they don’t know the age range of there best customers? To me it would be from 10yo to 25yo. Youngsters are were the meat and potatoes of the business. Think about it one adult who fishes(dad) vs how many kids he has. I think the kids fishing out number us adults. I’m not sure of the ratio. But it’s pretty high. I went and purchased some new baits today at $9/$12 each. I said to myself how can the youngsters afford this? I see custom painted baits on the auction sites within this price range. Why settle for a plain colored bait. Even my bombers look better color wise for $6. Why don’t the bait manufactures target the area where the most buyers are age group wise? we see so many new baits fizzle out sooner than they should over the rest. Do you think there not selling because there priced too high. im retired but still try to save a buck here and there. I’m still above the $0.99 cent meal at mcdonalds. I feel bad for the younger crowd who just wants to fish. i found some nice looking affordable baits on an auction site made in Japan. I was surprised they weren’t made in China. Either way they looked good. But you have to wander your way through some stuff to find a good bait. sorry for the rant.

In the winter when the ice is on it was good to learn from somewhat. now we have this awesome sight that has it all.

They should of had a snickers pop up topwater in the end. i remember a similar add using apples on the beach with a hook and line going in the water. When the person bit the apple he was pulled in the water.

For the shore fishermen, I fish the same three to five smaller ponds, bodies of water constantly. What’s your hottest bait this year for fooling them might not be the hottest bait next year. We find ourselves far between the action. It’s slow? It’s not you but it’s the same bait your throwing. Example I use a mepps #3 Anglia inline spinner silver blade with a brown dressed treble. I switch to a strike king #3 inline spinner silver blade with a black dressed treble. My point is change colors and styles of our baits. I do not accept being skunked. Expand your knowledge and skills. One more problem we all have is we fish too fast. Slow the speed down. I move the blade baits just fast enough to make the blades spin. Even slow the crankbaits down. If you slow down a floating crankbait it becomes a wakebait. Our skill catches fish. Luck has nothing to do with it.

Has anyone tried the rattle trap stutter step topwater lure yet? It looks good action wise.

No slim Jim’s? Cheese sticks is a good one too the poly o cheese. I’d rather have half sammiches because a whole sammach takes too long to eat. A fish might strike. The best time to eat is when throwing a split shot rigged worm it’s the slowest presentation there is. but the salami/cheese with the mustard/relish (hot dog relish) tastes great, no mayo in the heat. yup changed the oil/filter in the jeep/plow, she’s a 55 and still fiesty for an old gal. Lots of snow? Maybe.

If we’re in a rented boat my energy would level drop quick when casting being a diabetic. Even if I’m out shore fishing. A coffee and a donut or muffin helps before fishing.

No I’m not losing it. When the field and stream offered there bass fishing video game I purchased one years ago. You can learn the different presentations by the rod movement while seeing the bait react to it. We can’t see the bait sometimes in the real world. But knowing how the bait reacts to the rod movement on the game does work while fishing. You can actually learn how to handle the boat too. It’s a simulation but we can learn from it. For me it gave me a new approach to learn different baits and presentations. You twitch the rod and watch the bait movement. For someone wanting to learn it’s a help.

A brown scented trail or a mustard scent trail? Lol In time God does put the scent into it.

I like a good P&J sammach but also a salami, cheese with hotdog relish. Sometimes the salami or cheese becomes bait when it’s slow. Even the panfish have gourmet tastes.
