When I get up to go fishing I go do my routine every morning in the dark the same exact way. I get dressed the same way, put my shoes on in the same order. I wear my lucky fishing hat and polarized glasses. I even drive my car down the same exact streets to get there. I do this for three months every morning till I get burned out. I do it right, I'm in the zone, I block out everything around me and fish. I'm so quiet the deer don't know I'm there.

My misses is feeding a large herd of deer, mainly pregnant does, there two year old fawns and there one year old fawns. There here every night all night long. We have the good corn that's coated with molasses. Now the daddy to all these babies is almost 275lbs with a 16pt rack. He came through my field one day while we were repairing a tractor. He had 8 does with him. I hope he lives a few more years yet to spread those genes. We need to get out and look for sheds soon. I have the granddaddy of all bucks at my camp in vt. He's well over 300lbs and a rack that looks like 20pts. He stays out of range. There's a ridge that faces the north and gets the cold air from Canada all the time. He has a separate run above the does run. I use a bdc (bullet drop compisation) scope that has a adjustable turret that adjusts from 100yds out to 500yds with no error. Hoping a get a shot someday is why I still go hunting.

I use a mix of different snap swivels. I use the standard Walmart snap swivels on my Carolina rig for changing plastics/hooks quickly. On my crank bait setup I use only the ball bearing snap swivels. I get a smoother side to side movement on my crank bait. It's also more side to side movement too. On my spinnerbait rod I use the ball bearing snap swivels too. Why use snaps/snap swivels? I can't tie knots that quick in the day lite let alone fishing in the dark. Trust me you will get old someday too. Lol bigbill Sorry use nothing but the locking snap swivels.

I'm not sure but try, brannans bass shop online. These guys/gals in Texas bass fish too. They seem to always have what I'm looking for. The bigger online places are always out of stock. This just in time new age high tech restocking system isn't working.

Well I was in a rush to fish one day. I just lost my self control. I had just purchased five new lures. Besides my favorites that are my old faithful ones that work every time I throw it. You know where this is going right? Let's factor in some uplifting wind coming in from the water towards the man-made road bed that's 4' above the water. Add some over head trees with low branches. I lost three new lures and two old faithful ones before I packed it in and headed home. I hardly ever lose anything in the course of a season. I've lost the topnockers to big bass but that's maybe three in ten++ years. oops the rapala I lost to the lure theft. At day break in this one spot it's so violent of a strike it rips off my lure every time. It loves the rapala minnow f7 in blue.

A small inline spinner like a panther Martin #4 silver blade with a yellow/orange fly a shot of scent. We get stumped at this time but it's time to dig deep in our tackle box of tricks. Never give up its time to regroup and attack. It's smaller natural colored baits. Rapala orginal floating minnow f7 blue or black, maybe a baby bass color? Remember if we can see them they can see us. Wear darker colored clothes or camo.

I seen a guy using the larger mouse. From shore he casted it into tree branches and worked it slowly like it was walking on the branches. Then he splashes it in the water. He was pulling out bass after bass. These baits work awesome.

We were poor and the affordable zebco kept me fishing. Zebco reel $5? I never forget my roots.

In repeat fishing at the same small places each year the fish actually learn our baits and probably the scents I use too. Don't be like a deer caught in the headlights frozen to throwing you favorite hot fish catching lure. Change up your baits the way a baseball pitcher changes his pitches. Be flexible and throw different baits, different sizes of baits and different colors. Get back to basics read the water conditions. Adjust the color to match the water and light conditions. Nothing is in cement. Don't rush, make each cast and presentation an Oscar trophy winning approach. When it's slow I pull out every bait, practice every presentation. On a tough day a firetiger or chartruese color could be your best color. I've seen the upper water conditions be slightly stained and the water clarity be muddy on the bottom. The under ground springs or under water turbulence can change the lower water clarity. I've seen this happen. This is why I vary my baits and presentations till I get action. The water conditions, the light conditions can limit what colors the bass can see. They can smell my scent, they can hear the rattle but they can't see it if the color isn't correct for the water conditions. Failure isn't an option. Get in your zone, stay motivated and focused on your presentations. Bill

For any beginner or some who wants an affordable setup the spin cast is tough to beat as long as your out there fishing that's all that matters. I was a kid saving my money up to purchase a new zebco reel. We were poor but we had a roof over our head and we had food. The only fun me and my brothers had was fishing. Those memories with the zebco reels I will never forget with my brothers.

Winter sucks? Winter time is the time to?????? Refresh and go through your log book to plan your fishing trips plus to see how your past trips had varied success using different baits. It gives us time to think and regroup. I watched fishing videos too so I'm still on the edge. It's also time to clean the tackle boxes and lures to wash off any unwanted bad oders. Time to ice fish while the ice is on if your jonesn to fish that bad. Winter time is extra time to play with the kids, trains, slot cars, what ever you like there are card games, scrabble etc. Winter is boring only if you let it be boring. Almost time to clean and lube your reels, change your line and restock your tackle box? Need more to do? Clean the tackle room, clean the garage, clean the basement, organize your tackle? Go checkout Wal-Mart, Dicks sporting goods etc for pre spring sales. Order from Sieberts Outdoors new jigs etc. To beat the rush. Now tell me your still sitting here reading this? Get up you have lots to do. The Salmon fishing is first. Then it's trout, they taste good plus the kittens love fresh fish. Then comes bass fishing if your not tired from the winter chores. I hear, Theres no fish here all the time from people as they leave skunked. I don't do much fishing when these people are near me. That's why I fish in the dark till dawn when no one is there but the two guys I know.

Ok I'm fishing a newer small swamp from a road off a low bridge. It's not my usual low bridge hot spot. There are smaller bass in many numbers but so far a 30" picketed has been my biggest fish there. It's legal to fish from a road from a bridge because I'm not on the property owners land. It's stated that the property owner doesn't own the water he owns the land around the water. The property was sold and the new owner was flexing his authority a little and asked me to leave. I went and asked the state deep the environmental people and I got both answers. One is I'm legal. The other find another spot to fish. I'm disabled and fish not too far from the car. This was the best spot I ever found to date. In the spring I'm going to purse this issue further. We're losing more and more legal fishing areas by law. The land owner doesn't know the law. It's time to educate everyone on there rights to fish. I was never like this before but it's getting worse and worse for handicapped people to fish. The areas they do have handicap fishing at we couldn't catch a cold on a good day. It's silly what areas they pick out for us. As a teenager we were run off of private land by the land owner with a shotgun.

In the past probably $3k to $5k a year. Lately maybe $500 to $1,000. My tackle room has more tackle than a mom and pop bait shop. When a new lure works for me I stock up on it for the fear of it being discontinued plus I give fishing tackle away to my family, friends and the little kids I meet fishing. I like to see everyone have success. Once they catch fish there hooked for life. Don't do drugs, go fishing it's fun.

I had to stop eating PEPPERONI PIZZA after midnight because of night mares. I never dreamed about fishing. Probably because being retired since 2002 I been living it.

It's about being out in nature. It's becoming one with nature. Man for millions of years has fished only the dress code and the tackle has changed. It's enjoying watching the deer, bear, beavers, otters that come to visit before dawn. Fishing can be an adventure just pay attention and look around while your fishing. Fishing is a challenge for me to improve my skills. I stopped using lifeboat when it cost me over $50 a week to fish everyday. I use lures only now. The fish will let me know when I have the presentation correct. I save $50 a week on not buying livebait so now I purchase lures with the money I was burning up. Ill always have the lures.

The warmest part of the body of water is the farthest northern area. It gets the most sunlite the longest as the daylights minutes increase each day.

There is a lake that's stocked with trout minutes from me. Once the place settles down from the first opening day thirty day once a year fisherman I notice a very large fish attacking the trout. I'm thinking a great northern pike some how made it from a connecting lake were there stocked to control the white perch population. This pike knows when it's din, din time in the spring.

BUSH original baked beans with hotdogs n cheese plus bacon. 9" x 9" Pyrex dish or metal baking pan One large can of Bush beans on the bottom Six hotdogs sliced open like canoes. One slice down the middle don't break out the ends. Take the orange processed cheese slices and cut 1/2" slices doubled up. Stuff the dogs end to end and place on top of the beans cheese up. Next cover it all on top with slices of bacon laid on top. Cook at 375 degrees till the bacon is cooked. Use the orange processed cheese only. The cheese mixes in with the bean and bacon juices. It's a belly warmer on a cold night.

Nice deer stand for a 50bmg lol. Heights never bothered me. Looking down the black hole in an elevator 50' was no different than 500' the black hole was still dark just the same. Falling facts, When falling you have the first two feet at the start of the fall to grab something after that gravity takes hold of you. I've seen people fall and actually save themselves. But being alert and knowing your surroundings at all times plus quick thinking can save your life. The national timber tellers association says, ASK YOUR SELF IS WHAT IM ABOUT TO DO SAFE? Wd40 works, garlic works just don't spill it in your hatch back it smelled like an Italian salad all summer. The more the sun heated it the worse it got. I was hungry every time I drove the car. Much better than a mint air freshener. Try the cat spray it might work good luck bottling it.

Those rock fish bend hooks faster than the stick fish. Lol

Sometimes a bass can be a real exceptional fighter. I've had them to the point they can ruin anything. The river bass are the strongest fighters so far.
