  1. Yep,All too often. I was in a tournament a few years back and i was pitchin a jig on docks and I ended up with a 48 in.pike! I hate them big tooth critters!
  2. YOU CAN'T FISH A SWIM JIG/JIG WRONG! I LIKE TO SLOW ROLL A BIG FOOTBALL ( 3/4 TO 1 OZ.)and I love the Northstar jigs and there flip & swim can't be beat.remember one thing if you fish a jig slow crawl, hop, drag the bass will take a better look at the jig and and color of the jig comes into play with a swim jig it is more of a reaction bite but i do have colors I like in the swim jigs too. What i am trying to say, with a swim jig the bass has to make his mind up fast to eat it or not but when a jig is fished slow/slower he has more time to take a better look and has more time to eat or not.
  3. try the Gulp small baits or the Berkley Power baits like the small panfish tubes, hellgermites, minnows, ect.
  4. I have fished with some of the pro's and will add, that they pick up the little things that most other fisherman would miss. They are pin point with there baits and they pick up patterns very fast and can adjust to any weather or lake! But one of the big things I did pick up on is, they NEVER give up,there confidence is so high it is unreal.and being on the water over 300 days does not hurt them. You can't compare the pro's to local pro's it is not evan close!
  5. I do beleave he was legal to tie up as long as he does not leave the boat!
  6. I think I will buy her ( for my kids ) A new bass boat, two DI/SI Humminbirds, some lews reels and some high end rods. And then for fathers day a new truck?
  7. I do beleave this is true! I have been guiding for along time at night, I can say that this migration route stuff is a fact. Fishing Facts Magazine wrote about this back in the early 70's and I did not buy into this migration stuff,I thought how can a bass with the brain the size of a pea know to take the same route to feed every night/day! Well it took me many years of fishing to come to grips with that they were wright! I have done 3 articles for magazines and many seminars on this subject ( And beleave me I am not trying to ring my own bell). The lakes I guide on at night,I fish alot of deep water and never less than 10 ft. and for a reason! And that reason is MIGRATION ROUTES! The lake I fish at night start to turn on about 11 pm or midnight and the reason,it takes them that long to get to there feeding area's after the lake settle's down. One night they may be on there feeding area at midnight and another night at that same spot 1 am or 11 pm,and you can depend on these spots all summer and it is like a milk run. I have caught so many BIG bass doing this,it is crazy! Just find the feeding spot and put it in your GPS and it is money in the bank or should I say big bass in the boat!!!!!
  8. Felix, good idea! I fish the VMC Spin-shot and I like them alot! But I fish a double drop shot with the spin-shot hooks,so now you can cover more water and try more baits and colors. And i love the lack of line twist with these hooks. So now you can pre-rig a double DS.
  9. The only time the Drop shot will not work is, if there are no fish in the lake, pond!
  10. That is easy, the Madman tube craw and there crawworm!
  11. I would put my Netbait Paca Craws up against a Rage any day!!! I think there are baits out there that are not a big name that are just as good as the big dogs. And in todays market it is all about the money. So if a guy finds a bait that has the same action for less money then good for him!!!
  12. try a Zoom fat albert,a grass pig,any grub, just match the color.Or any paddel tail swimbait.I do take a ribbon tail worm and cut it down and put that on my swim jig. Oh by the way,you will love the NortStar swim jig!!!!
  13. I love the C-rig in the summer on deep weed lines! I throw a 3/4 to 1 oz.tungston weight on 50lb. braid with a fluo.leader.The Carolina Keeper is very cool like the other had posted but you will get line twist. The knot I use all the time is the SD jam knot!
  14. I guide at night and i will tell you what works for me.I like the T-rig,drop shot, but my go to is the 3/4 or 1 oz. football jig and SWIM it VERY slow on deep weed lines, just like slow rolling a spinnerbait! And you better be holding your rod tight! I DON"T fish water less than 10 ft.at night! Alot of the big bass and there schools go to there feeding area's that alot of times are deeper than 10 ft.! Start fishing deep water at night and you will find bigger bass in better numbers! Some of my baits I like are Brush Hog's,lizards,Netbait C-Mac 15 in. worms, and a NorthStar football jig, tubes, grubs,!
  15. I agree, I don't see why it would not work!
  16. Lunker's Love Nightcrawlers! I think Buck Perry wrote the book. It has to be my vote for best book.I don't fish live bait anymore but it did teach me and how to understand how bass react to weather, structure, water temps.ect.
  17. If you have a Gander MTN. near you, they have alot of them! At least my store does, they just got a bunch more in.
  18. I do slow down and it works for more in the summer. If I don't get a hit then I would speed up. In the spring the water is colder than in summer so I do think fast in the cold water in the spring works. But in summer water after a front I slow down in DEEP water and that works.I know what the others are saying about the reaction bite and they are wright.I don't think there is a wright or wrong answer here, just let the fish tell you what they want!!
  19. Fishes in trees, Your welcome,I was just looking to find a fast way to change weights on the Jika rig and I had some speed clips and I tryed it and it worked great.
  20. After a front I down size and slow way down! Some baits i like are the Zoom french fry,Robo worms, anything small on a drop shot,a C-rig in deep water ( summer ),bass that are in deep water are less affected by a front than shallow water bass.
  21. The long drop shot weights work better for me,just open up the wire at the top of the weight.
  22. I was thinking of trying the Norman speed clip as the number two split ring so I could change weights fast.Has anyone tryed this yet? Just a thought to try something new.
  23. I fish on my wacky fluro.in 6 or 8 lb. no leader.On a T-rig I do the same.Now on a C-rig I will fish braid and a leader.
