  1. Thanks for all the responses guys. It's helped me get a better picture of what's being discussed and the difference in terminology depending on geographics.
  2. I'm familiar with what a pond is, in a strict definition. I just have never been able to experience fishing the west, south, or east. Up here when you say your going fishing, your headed to the lake or river. I have a multitude of lakes to fish, allbeit, small ones, which are fairly close to me. When I read about alot of the guys in different areas of the country, especially the south and southeast pond fishing, I am just wondering if that means they don't have lake and river fishing readily available to them.
  3. I guess that I understand what a pond is, but what I don't understand is why so much of it in the southeast. I have been reading threads for the last few months trying to sort it out, but don't get it. Is it that there is a lack of localized natural waters? A couple of questions. 1. Generally, how big are they? 2. Who maintains them? Thanks to anyone who can give me a heads up.
  4. Great job!! I agree with hookemdown. More kids need a hobby like fishing instead of alot of the other crap they can get into. Keep up the good mentoring.
  5. Hi golfhog!

  10. So.................what happened? Any luck?
  11. Does any one know where Never's landing on the Criox is ? Was out there on Friday. My first time on the St. Croix and I was pumped. Fished senko's whacky style and got a couple. Missed About a 4-5# smallie. That made me very sad. :'( Anyway with the high water and the wind, it was still an awesome trip. Looking forward to coming back.
  12. Jake_P, unless I've missed something the sx is only available in 7.1:1. And apparently I did. Was looking at cabelas as I was typing, and obviously I missed on that one. Good catch.
  13. Generally buzz baits are brought in on the surface similar to other top water baits. Don't use them much. The spinner baits, can be brought in slow, burnt, jerked and any other way you can think of. Mostly I'll use dark or murky colors in the samre water conditions, and lighter or brighter colors in clear waters. This is how it works for me. Good luck.
  14. Yo Zuri US all the way. I'm not gonna knock others, but I have been using us for 3 different applications, and have not had any issues, including break-offs. As far as memory. As RW stated, make acouple of casts, and the line is ready to go. I don't think that you can ask more unless your gonna be using a braid.
  15. I only have the sx model. And I love it, don't think you can go wrong. Never held the stx, so I can't realy compare. But I can say that the sx has been very good to me. Just keep in mind the sx only comes in the burner model, whereas the stx is available in different speeds.
  16. Thanks RM. I do feel comfortable with the drag on the BPS nitro, but that makes me feel better.
  17. Still agree that GM is leaving alot to be desired lately, but I was there today and found what I thought was a sweet deal. On their combo racks was a sign buy one get second 1/2 off. Got 2 Abu revo s / Fenwick Venture combos for 150 bucks. Rods aren't exciting, but I can use them for guests or for bangin around. and basically the reels were 75 each.
  18. I bought the BPS nitro acouple of weeks ago. Same thing. Took it to a local shop, and he agreed that it was a little tight. But being that it worked freely and tightened down as it should, I spooled it and fished it, and decided that evan at that, the drag wasn't gonna be an issue. It still tightens down where I want it and I can still back it off plenty. I was wondering then already if that's just the way certain models from BPS are.
  19. Got nailed about 3 weeks ago down by the river. Woke up about 4 the next morningwith my neck throbbing like heck. Got up and looked, and there he was on my adam's apple. Inflamed about the size of a quarter. Sister-in-law got him ALL out and swelling went in about 2-3 days. Was told second hand that if you get them out within 24 hrs., generally your in good shape.
  20. If your looking for the Manufacturer: Serv. Dept. St. Croix Rod 856 4th Ave North Park Falls, WI 54552 1-800-826-7042
  21. Been lookin to by another rod, and had a few in mind. Loaded up the wallet and went to Gander figuring I was gonna have a tough time choosing. Not. Full line of Gander and St Croix rods. Liked my premier, so at RW's suggestion went with a 7' avid. Love it. Other than that, could have went to Walmart.
