  3. I dunno Red, but that is definitely a fish to brag about!
  4. Thanks for the backing help. Just came back from Gander and there was a guy "like a hog to the trough", knee deep in a bin of flies and poppers. He was real helpful in getting me started with that stuff. So I guess I will see what happens if I can get out over the weekend. These are the kind of threads that I like to just sit back and follow, ya'll been a big help. 8-)
  5. Dude, that is one excellent fish! How's the confidence now? 8-) I get a funny feeling I know what the rest of summer is about for you, congratulations. No doubt your heart was thumpin' like a sledge hammer, a beast like that would do it. Way ta go Eric!!!
  6. Wow, that thing is just crazy. I wonder what kind of energy is spent just on the initial start up? Just read through that forum, starts on compressed air.
  7. All in all not a bad day, you didn't lose an eye! ;D Sorry, couldn't help it. When things like that happen back to back it just makes you want to shake your head. Side arm shouldn't be natural but it is beneficial. It's kinda like baseball, learn how to throw properly first. This gives you the targeting/aiming practice as well as the eventual distance you can gain. Side arm and backhand shots give you the diversity you need to hit the hard to hit spots. Getting under trees, or skippin' docks for example. Better luck! 8-)
  8. Been looking at these for the last couple weeks, it should be perfect for those unforseen events and am switchin' to one on Monday:http://www.motorola.com/Consumers/US-EN/Consumer-Product-and-Services/Mobile-Phones/Motorola-Quantico-US-EN It might not be the end all phone, but I played with one yesterday and it's not overly bulky and has an outdoorsy look to it. Don't think it quite floats though.
  9. I'd bet many go on ebay looking for and buying junk just like this thinking they are sprucing up the den. : I have 2 musky that belonged to my dad and whoever he had do them seriously needs to find a new line of work.
  10. Welcome to the boards.
  11. Welcome to the boards Tim
  12. Welcome Joe, and happy retirement! 8-)
  13. No matter the weight, that is one nice fish! 8-)
  14. Got my new fly reel yesterday and have a question on backing. How critical is the type of backing? Oh ya, and how do I determine how much I want to spool on ahead of the fly line? Thanks for any help! 8-)
  15. You guys kill me. ;D I'm only 43 but in my neck of the woods we were always 10 years or better behind the more developed parts of the country. It was said that my great-grandmother had the first tv around and was the talk of the terrritory.
  16. Chimin' in here. As a kid I could wait for Virgil Ward to come on, I was suprised to here Gary Klein bring up his name in Glenn's interview. Every so often there is a thread running on everyone's favorites and I am usually the only one to sing Virgil Ward. Those were the days 8-)
  17. Get real Rick, they don't make 57# test 8-)
  18. Ya beat me to it Gary! I just knew where this was going. ;D
  19. As kids we had "do-overs".......to bad real life doesn't have as many.
  20. Them are some nice catches ya have there basser. 8-) busy day on the water!
  21. Now I'm jealous Doug, you got a lot to look forward to. preach4bass; I used to keep a dictionary in my bathroom, but whenever company would leave I would discover that pages where always missing....hmmm?
  22. Back in the late 80's a friend of mine was tossed out of a boat when his buddy cranked the wheel and gunned it. The prop ran his head over and killed him. Both were drunk and Mike's parents saw it for what it was worth, a stupid accident. No fan fare or lawsuits.....I feel sorry for the kid but I don't get it either, where is it the manufacturer's fault? Many times kids and boats mix as well as a car load of kids; having fun, not paying attention, not understanding that there is a responsibility when having fun.
  23. Now there's a day of fishing! Sounds like your getting 'em figured out. 8-) When you went back the next day were you trying to duplicate everything from the previous day or did you get to the point of changing things up? How about weather, was it the same day to day?
  24. Burley, are you trying to smile in that pic?
  25. My brother has one that I have used a couple of times. I don't remember how many HP, but it did okay as long as you didn't horse it. Still a lot better than using a scythe.
