Still throwing a CU200, CU200B5 and a CU200BSF

My vote is in the weeds, but preferably over the top and down the edge. The primary weedlines are almost always key locations in natural lakes. A lightweight jigworm that lands on top of weed stems and leaves instead of burying in them is very effective, and the “snap” off and through those veggies is a great trigger. Just seems to be a more consistent bite overall on more waters than going outside the weed line, especially on good musky and pike waters.

MLF is still evolving and they’re trying to find that right mix of size and numbers. Believe you’ll see a few changes next year catering to quality fish a little more, starting with the just released schedule that should have most of the tournies hitting big fish lakes/windows. Other stuff in the works.

The trick to leading a bass from cover is to keep slight tension or pressure on the line/fish the whole time. Don’t drop the rod, as that is when they seem most likely to drop the bait. Just kind of lightly guide him in the direction you want him to go by slowly reeling as he moves. I’ve timed bass that have held a 4” worm for 45 seconds before setting the hook or getting the fish to drop the bait.

Been there, done that. It works, at least some of the time - lol. You’d be surprised how hard you have to work at times to get a bass to drop a small soft plastic bait.

Charlie Brewer Slider head and worm. Most days I just use the Zman wormZ for all applications...and yes, one spinning outfit handles it all. Nothing over 1/8 oz. Only time I bring casting gear anymore is when I either want to, or need to, fish something specific for whatever reason. Now, when I take the boat out, I'm bringing a bit more gear ?

None of the above. I only ever keep one bait tied on during all my bank/pond trips. It will either be a Slider, a Ned, or a jighead wacky worm. Easy to pack all the above in one little baggie and stuff in your pocket. Same setup for all of them. Have probably landed over 1000 bass the past few years alone just with that little selection.

Was going to say “never” also, but then thought about it more and realized I do use snaps most times with Spooks and blade baits...but other than those two baits, never... ?

Brutal front hit, sitting right on top of us as of 9AM this morning. Light frost overnight; windy. Stopped at a pond late this afternoon anyway and managed 17 bass in a couple hours. A few trips back, I lost a real nice fish on "Ned." I was simply using a rod that is a joy to fish with, but isn't the ideal rod for Midwest Finesse fishing. So I switched outfits just to prove to myself I knew why I lost that fish and have gone 33 for 33 since - and all is right with the world again

Found some old pics from the one time I fished LMV over 20 years ago. One pictured is the largest I got, but did get to drop a few times on a "big shadow" in about 18'-19' of water that we thought might be a late spawner that kept hanging in one spot.

Finally got around to pulling out the “Ned rig” outfit again a month or two ago and have been throwing it in our ponds pretty much exclusively. Have caught a few hundred bass since doing so. Been a fun diversion from my boat trips which have all been after crappie. Still nothing but good to say on the YGK SS112 braid which I’ve also been throwing exclusively this whole time. Will definitely be picking up more for the bass rods (spinning) this fall.

Always a possibility; just saying it doesn't match with my experience on the ponds around here, so it's not a given. Hope you figure it out, or the fish come back after a few years.

Ditto the above ^^ I fish a couple ponds that pretty much stay "blue" the entire year because they treat them so heavily, but the numbers of bass hasn't changed from what I can tell. Just need to figure out what the bass have done to adapt, and you'll probably be back on them again. Just fished one such pond this afternon and managed about 2 dozen in a couple hours and I only got to fish half the pond because of a couple other anglers at this one today.

Agree - more details needed. I rarely have any issues with Slider heads. The worm will naturally get pulled down on a good bite/hookset...it’s supposed to.

Another vote for bullhead...probably a black bullhead, but hard to say with certainty from the pics. Heck of a bonus catch

Outside of a bad or corroded wire, I’d look at a bad rectifier, voltage regulator or stator.
