Back after the crappie this afternoon. Bite has been really good with the cooler summer weather. Should only get better with fall approaching.

Overall, I like the new look - good color scheme. Only thing I miss so far are the visible post counts for members. Looks like you have to go to each persons profile individually to see those.

Keeping it simple on a cool, post-front day. Pond hopping with a couple baits stuffed in a pocket, along with just 1 outfit. A lot better quality than I expected given the conditions. A brief warmup starts tomorrow before the next front moves in.

Yes I really don't think it matters that much. Both types of anglers can be plenty successful with their chosen approach. It's more a matter of matching the right style to your personality or preference.

Techniques, not so much, but knowledge....I'll never understand it all. I'll keep trying to learn until the day I give the sport up. Buck said, "Knowledge is the key to fishing success."

Lol Does seem like strange packaging, even for leader material. 100 yds of fun right there. The orange Sunline spools nicely though Caught some nice fish using it.

I've used Sunline orange FC line before, if that's bright enough for you Yozuri and YGK also make pink fluorocarbon

Since you brought it up, I'll also take the other side of the strength argument and state that nylon fishing lines actually decrease in strength after water absorption, some rather significantly. But I get the big picture; fluorocarbon doesn't work in your arsenal, but it does fine in mine. As you said, it is what it is.

I'll gladly concede the knot strength, but there is more than enough unbiased data and experience to argue the two line types are at least equal in abrasion resistance (generally speaking), and most objective reviews give the nod to fluoro in this category, especially under 'real world' conditions after nylons have had a chance to absorb waster.

Toray Super Braid (a.k.a. Power Finesse) or Daiwa Samurai Braid would be the first two I look for...

Believe it's "popsicle". Different pictures show the accent color as more pinkish or whitish depending.

Had a friend who was a custom crankbait maker test this out thoroughly on our local waters. Made absolutely no difference. Action (as best we could determine) was much more important than color. Color pattern, regardless of order or alignment, was insignificant. As always, YMMV, but I put little faith in it outside of what "looks good" to me and makes me happy

Change of pace this weekend by chasing crappie. Right up there with bass fishing in my book, at least the way I prefer to chase them. Had great weather and company - always a nice bonus ?

Tom - needed to check on boat and tackle in storage today anyway, so measured rod while there. 2 pieces, metal-metal ferrules and 7'8" long. Might surprise some people how "whippy" the upper section is, but I believe it probably had to be to help cushion the fight from truly giant bass. The bottom half is solid though. I believe I recall reading that he built these rods with each half being made out of completely different blank materials to get the exact action and qualities he wanted?

I'll measure it the next time I get the chance - in storage at the moment. After Bill passed, the family sold some of his stuff locally on Craig's List. Pure dumb luck that I stumbled on the ad that night, and they were willing to ship from Cali to Indiana. I refused a book they were willing to throw in because i already had one. They said this rod was one of two they were selling that Bill built and used.

I own one of Bill Murphy's custom stitching rods that he made and used. This rod is a beast, weighing in at over 12 ounces. As for the technique and sensitivity, the rod never came into play. You simply pointed the rod straight at the bait and used your hand/fingertips to feel every little thing going on as you stitched line in.

No guarantees, but always been a good top water lake first thing in the morning, and then crankbaits and Carolina rigs during the day.

Whatever works for you is great, and that's your choice. Personally, I won't be switching back to mono as my primary line anytime soon. For some, obviously, the reverse scenario applies. Good for us both. My only other comment is, do your own due diligence on the specifics of line types and their properties, and test a lot of this stuff out, both on the water and off. Don't just believe everything you read on the Internet, including these forums.

...but hey, whatever works for you - I'm almost 100% fluoro on my baitcasters and have been for almost a decade. I don't see that changing any time soon.

Lot of fishing left, but looks like Wheeler will take a 1 point lead in AOY after day 1. Palaniuk in the better position to gain back ground though, just like last event between Days 1 and 2. Making it a race, at least.

Nope - AOY points won't get updated until an hour or two after today's weigh-in. Last event knocked KVD out of the top few spots down to where he sits now. He'll drop even further after today, I'm guessing

Wheeler's already made 32 of them up, and there are still over 35 guys to weigh ? Tomorrow will be a critical day for both of them.

I was guessing Shakespeare also. I own plenty, so I left it on the shoreline, then posted the same pic on a local fishing FB page and said whomever got their first could have it, or the original owner could claim it. Not sure if anyone has grabbed it or not...may swing by after work just to see
