  1. looking at getting a MH spinning setup and this caught my eye. Anyone have either? Anybody heard anything aobut them? They look pretty sweet with some nice features for the money.
  2. Yup this is what I was thingking. They are a little more than the mojo but are in my opinion way better (closer to the avid) you can't beat the warranty either. The other shimanos are great too...Clarus, Compre and cumara, alll great rods at their particular price point and all with the same great warranty.
  3. considering I got rid of a sustain, stradic and sol you can see how I feel about them. They are in a different league than the stradicc and saros IMO. If you watch ebay you can get then for as low as $110 to $125.
  4. I bought 5 and man they are sweet. The smoothest spinning reels I have ever used. Never used a stella so can't compare to that but they blow away my sustain... I mean the sustain I used to have ;D I replaced my sols, stadics and my sustain with these. You won't be disappointed.
  5. kvd is awesome. I was very sceptical but is is great. Line is a lot more manageable and limp after using it.
  6. dude the 802glx would make a sick combo. That would be my first choice.
  7. a cumara or cumulas rod would be sweet with the ci4. I have the cumara 6'8"mxf that I use for tubes, DS and SH and I love it.
  8. Does anyone have the lucky craft or has anyone used it. How do the 2 compare?
  9. from what I uderstand the less viscous the oil the faster your spool will go b/c the oil insn't as sticky (if oil can be sticky) it is kinda like the difference between motor oil and WD40 the motoroil will stay where you put it longer but the WD40 will give you more of a slick surface. It kinda seems like it is personal preference in the long run. By the way I use reel butter and really like it.
  10. GLX 783C paired with a Daiwa Alphas or TD-Z
  11. reel butter viscosity is 28
  12. Just installed my new abec 9 bearings from bronzefly... I put 1 drop of oil per bearing and after I noticed that they didn't spin nearly as long when spun on a pencil tip...is this normal? This is the first time I have upgraded bearing so I want to make sure to get it right. Did do something wrong? Too much lube? I used Abu garcia reel oil.
  13. I saw that today as well. It is part of their "First Cast" sale.
  14. what you don't know is how many times KVD switches out his rods and reels-- that is fine if you get them for free, but if you have to buy them that can get a little expensive :'(
  15. with that rod the only reel you listed that makes sense is the Core, but like RW said a steez would be the #1 choice, although a little pricey.
  16. Just wondered if anybody has one or has used one. I have the oppertunity to get one at a pretty good price and thought I might give it a shot.
  17. I fished with one for an afternoon last fall. Awesome rod for the $. What do they compare to? I would say a Crucial, Avid, maybe an IMX but probably in between an IMX and GL3. I thought they were great rods, actually I have been thinking of trying a couple this year. I liked that they were super sensitive yet didn't feel brittle, they were also extremely light. For $129 they might be worth a shot. I just wish their website was more developed, they sure don't spend any time on that.
  18. Called them this afternoon and bought 2 and they are shipping them to me thanks for the heads up
  19. Has anyone used or even messed around with one. TW has them for $169 right now and supposedly they retail in japan for @$300. TW compares them to a certate with a couple of downgrades. Just wondering if anyone has one or has an opinion on the subject. They don't seem bad for $150 with the 10% discount, but are they really what they claim they are?
  20. I don't see a problem with it, but if I were to get one I would wait until they are on clearance. Why get one now for 200 when they're about to be quite a bit less within this next year? my thoughts exactly, I think I will go with the ci4 now and get the sol when they clearance. Especially since I found a ci4 on ebay for $175 shipped and all the sols I have found have been close to $200
  21. Just b/c the reel is being phased out doesn't mean it has no value anymore, the 50mg is still one of the greatest reels ever made and they are no longer in production. A red fuego on a legend tournament? The LT is blue with yellowish/orandish accents, a Sol would look like it was made for it.
  22. I think I might have to go with the sol on my legend tournament, the ci4 would look hideous on that rod, but I could get both and put the ci4 on my sr782, that would be one super light combo. I know it is probably a toss up when it comes to performance and they are both about the same price, but if you spend $200+ on a reel it better look good on the rod you put it on.
  23. I need a new spinning reel and have sol casters and have heard great things about the spinning reels, but the new ci4 looks sweet, can anyone give me an opinion on either? If you have any other suggestions that would be helpful as well. Thanks
  24. I have been getting a lot of line twist on my tube rod lately. I have 8# vicious flouro on it and the line is treated with KVD L & L but I seem to still be getting way more than I ever have. Could it be the vicious line, I just started using it and for my casters it works great but on a spinning setup it seems like it twists alot.
