  1. I got it at a store called MEIJERS it is kinda like a super wal-mart. They have the 8lb, 10lb, and 12lb 30%off plus an additional 25% off. I got 1 spool of 8lb but maybe I should go get more. What do you guys use it for? I was going to spool it on my 2 revos 1 for cranks and the other for plastics. How is the stretch?
  2. Just wondering what you think of it. I picked up a spool of 8lb for $9 and thought I would give it a shot. I have never used any flouro are there any you would recommend?
  3. At $200 you could get into a cumara which I would say is a step up from the avid, but other than that you really have to go to the $250 range before you get to the next level....Loomis IMX, Legend Tournament.
  4. I have a couple crucials and for the money they are very sensitive. In that price range think the St. Croix avids are the way to go I have 2 and they are sweet (in the $150-$190 range).
  5. I just got a Revo premier, this is the first reel I have had with a magnetic brake. Is there anything I should know before I get a huge overrun? Just wondering if there is a major difference in how to cast with a mag. brake v. the centrifugal brake.
  6. I have seen them at Gander Mountain, and yeah they look sweet. I believe they are rubber made to look like cork, but I could be wrong.
  7. I had this same rod and used it for all my finesse techniques. It is a great sensitive rod with a really soft tip but tons of backbone. I landed lots of 4lb smallies last summer with it.
  8. You did the right thing I have heard nother but bad things about the Fuego. ;D ;D ;D
  9. no its $168 you have to click on the price match coupon on their home page.
  10. yeah it is on closout for $186 but on the home page on the right hand side of the page there is a spot that says they will match prices and spring sales. click on that and then add the mg to your cart and another 10% is taken off.
  11. If you are looking for a baitcaster ***.com has shimano chronach mg50 for 168.99 on closeout
  12. You are right the difference is the guides split grip and price. You have to decide if the split grip and recoils are worth the $40. I have 2 Cabelas XMLTI rods that have recoil guides and they are fine as long as you use mono, floro, or fireline. My opinion on them is aren't worht the money. Now if the split grip is what you like the extreme may be the way to go. If you play around with the recoil guide you will see that the largest guide flexes like they show in the ads but after that you practically have to crush the rod to get the other to compress. Besides I think they ruin the look of a $300 rod. Just my opinion they are both sweet rods. I just picked up 2 of the new elites and love them.
  13. I am in the middle of choosing new reels and in that search this question came to me. What is the deal with bearings? Shimano reels, such as the curado and mg50 have 6 or 7, but you look at revos and they have 10, now which is smoother? Which is better? Does more bearings mean the reel is smoother or better, are there different types of bearings, where is the balance. How can 2 different $200 reels have such a variance in bearing count. At some point you can only get so smooth. Right?
  14. I think you guys have proven that we need a "debate" section on this site, and anyone who says bass fishing is for rednecks needs to read this thread. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  15. At *** right now you can get the mg for $168 or the curado E for 162. They are a difference of about 2 ounces, is that a big difference. Other that weight what will be the difference. Does anybody have both? Any thoughts?
  16. What do I get. I am looking at revos and mg50. I found a place I can get the mg 50 for $168, or I was looking at the revo sx or stx. The thing I like about the revo is line capacity, but the mg is so light and it comes with an awesome price. What do ya think. I am definitely open to other suggestions as well.
  17. no costs other than shipping. Didi you recieve yours yet? was it the same as mine?
  18. Some of you probably know what happened. I put the story in another post. Well today I came home to a tube in my garage. I opened it and sure enough my new LEs were inside. I thought the previous models were sweet. These are awesome I got the lec68xf and the les68xf. These are the lightest rods I have ever held, I am not sure what my glx weighs but it is not this light. I put my symmetre 1500 of the spinning rod and the thing feels sweet. They put enough cork in fron of the reel seat that it is balanced perfect so your entire hand fits just in front of the reel foot (some people might not like this, but trust me it is great). The casting model is great with the new reel seat that has 2 slots for your fingers, they are in a natural place if you like to palm a reel. Overall these are the sweetest rods I have ever bought. I am so excited to try them out to bad there is 2ft of snow on the ground and 18" of ice everywhere. Alll in all I didn't know how St. Croix could improve the LE series but the defenitely hit a home run in my book. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

  20. I just had the same situation come up. So I took my rod to a local rod builder. I basically wanted him to strip it down to the blank and start grom scratch. He said the same thing as flechero, he said it was possible but would probably end up costing roughly $100- $150 for the build. So for $150 you can have a rebuilt rod or for $200 you could get a brand new rogue with all the newest technology that goes into it. I know it is a tough call. I must say I did not have the rod redone. I sold it and bought a Legend Elite that RW pointed out for $180. I just checked Rogue.com and your same rod is listed for $200 so you might be able to find it a little cheaper if you do soem diggin'
  21. Sorry if this is a repeat topic I searched and couldn't find anything. Just wondering what other guys prefer and what techniques they use for Xtra Fast vs. Fast.
  22. Durley-- I am not sure what crucials are going for by you but here they are $140-180, I paid $180 for Legend Elites
  23. Well, my rods got to St. Croix today and they called. They will swap them out for the new legend elite or for $40 per rod give me the extremes, I am not sure which I want.
  24. Thanks for the opinions I am debating between getting a legend elite or the new legend extreme and really the only difference is the split grip and the recoil guides.
  25. 3-- St. Croix 2-- Loomis 2--Crucial (shimano)
