Michigan Reports
Burt lake has some great walleye fishing. I have never bass fished there so I can't help with that. For walleye I head to the north end of the lake and drift with 1/4-1/2oz jigs with a crawler or minnow on. Chart, white seem to be the most effective colors. I would love to try some of that new gulp alive up there in either the minnow or the leech.

Falcon Cara T7 Rods?
The premier series Croix isn't in the same class as the others at all. The other three are comparable at that point I think it is personla preference and how much you want to spend. I have had a cara and have a crucial and avid right now. For the money I think the crucial is great. You can find them on sale for around $120, But the cara is definitely a sweeeeet stick (just more money).

G-Blanks rods?
If you look how they are set up there is hardly any hardwhere on them. AndI am sure it depends what action and power as well, like I said I am jsut passing on the info I am gettting, personally I would go with cooks of Oregon for a semi custom rod. Just search Cooks of Oregon rods on google and you will find it. He uses mostly loomis blanks you can get an IMX shipped for under 200, great price for something of that quality. He has made me 3 and they are put together as loomis factory rods and you can choose a lot more options.

G-Blanks rods?
If you go on EBAY they sell lots of rods on there. Just search gblanks rods and you should find it. I have been looking for a custom rod and looked at their rods and called them to see what blanks they use. The rod I was looking at was a 6'6" med, fast, that they said weighs 1 ounce lighter than a glx, my friend has one and it is super light although i haven't actually weighed it. They are so light you almost to go with a mg50 or steez, or some other super light reel or get the next size up (lenght wise) rod- instead of 6'6" get 7'. I am just passing on the info I was told by the man I talked to on the phone from the company please correct me if I am wrong I don't want to spread misinformation.

G-Blanks rods?
G blanks are sweet rods, they use rainshadow blanks. They are very light, lighter than a GLX, probably not as good but that is all rel;ative, you can buy 3 for the price of one glx. They can costomize it to fit your preferences which is cool for a rod under $150

Custom Rods
Thanks for all the references. Sorry if I was a little upset. I was just very disappointed b/c your rods look amazing and I was very bummed that you don't do rods to order online, and yes I did see the heading after I got off the phone with you. I was just frustrated b/c I have been looking for a rod builder that I like and I thought I forund the perfect one. I guess I will keep an eye on your on hand stock that you list on your web site and see if I find something I like. Sincerely, Luke

Custom Rods
I want a 6'6" casting med or med hvy depending on the blank, fast or xfast, fuji guide alchonite or something similar. Split grip with preferably a skeletonized grip. I would love to find something like the ones David green makes with the burle cork and some custom features but those are not a neccesity(sp?).

cumara, carrot stix, or something else
did you say the cumara is NOT as sensitive as the carrot stix? that is surprising I thought the cumara was one of the most sensitive rods available.
-
cumara, carrot stix, or something else
I have heard that but the foam is not very "pretty" not that a rod should be pretty but for $200 it should look nice

Baitcaster Casting Problems
I got my first bc reel about 2 months ago and it just took a lot of practice and fine tuning the brake and spool control and now I have it just right. I can tell when someone has messed with it because it doesn't cast the same if you change the settings just a little bit. Just keep pracxticing and you will get it. To start with turn the spool tension so it is pretty tight. You won't be able to cast very far but you will get the feel of the reel, then slowly lighten up the tension to the point you like and then you are ready to rock and roll.

cumara, carrot stix, or something else
Wh at is the best in the light weight, ultra sensitive rod market looking fo r a drop shot rod and like the cumara. The carrot stix caught my eye but have never held one. I wish loomis made a split grip like the cumara, or the cumara came with a cork grip. $200 for a rod with EVA grips just seems wrong.

Custom Rods
I am not angry I just was a little surprised how I was treated. No big deal I wish I could just walk in and have him take measurements and everything else he needs because his rods look pretty amazing. I have no hard feelings I just wish I could get somethng of that quality around where I live. OH WELL, LIFE GOES ON

Looking for some spinning wisdom
I was having trouble with the same thing till I tried my grandfathers light action loomis walley rod, now that rod is mine I can just about throw flies with it. If yo uneed something heavier you might try a moderate action, otherwise my loomis has a ton of back bone but soft tip to get those light jigs and spinners out there

Custom Rods
Thanks for the info I called them and they said they do not do custom rods unless you can come in. Since I live in Michigan that is not an option. He said they post some for sale on their site, and to just check to see if they have anything that is what I like. I talked to his wife(?) and she was talking to him for me and they sounded a little confused but whatever. Thanks for the info anyway

Custom Rods
I am looking to purchase a custom rod and am looking for some advice. I have looked at the JMiles rods, Gblanks, and rods made by Cooks or Oregon. Cooks of Oregon uses loomis and croix blanks which I am kinda partial too. Jmiles rods look cool but they say they are im6 which doesn't sound that special, however that doesn't mean they aren't just as good. I would just like some advice. Right now I have 2 shimano crucials, a croix avid, a loomis walleye series and a lamiglas certified pro. Let me know if anyone has an opinion one way of the other. Thanks :-/

BPS Pro Qualifier rods
i bought a 6'6" and the rod was like a piece a steel there is a reason they are always on sale for 79.99. I returned mine and spent double on a loomis but am much happier no buyers remorse unlike any rod that has the bps logo on it. I won't buy another bps ever.
