Cooks of Oregon Custom Rods
Here are some pics of the rods. http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk301/coolhandlala/DSC02037.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk301/coolhandlala/DSC02039.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk301/coolhandlala/DSC02036.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk301/coolhandlala/DSC02035.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk301/coolhandlala/DSC02038.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk301/coolhandlala/DSC02037.jpg These rods are probably nothing special to some of you but I think the turned out very well and I just weighed them and the mbr weighs 3.4 oz and the dr 3.1oz. I paired them both with citicas. I thought that the citica would be too heavy but actually the rods balance out great. I think these are great customs for $160.00

Cooks of Oregon Custom Rods
I am trying to get dome pics up but I don't know how. Just because someone buy s 2 rods form someone doesn't mean they are affiliated with them. I am sure lots of rod builders have sold multiple rods to the same person.

Cooks of Oregon Custom Rods
I just recieved my 2 custom rods I ordered from cooks of oregon. WOW is all I can say they are beatiful. One is a mbr783 with a split grip it turned out awesome. The other is a dr820 technically a drop shot blank but I intend to use it for dropshotting, shakey head, and anyother lightweight finesse fishing, maybe even some small cranks. Ryan the owner made that one with a skeleton grip just like a cumara. Both rods are made from IMX blanks and they are super light. If you are in the market for a semi-custom rod check out cooks of oregon. I am in no way affiliated with them just very very happy with the job he did on my rods.

best $100 spinning reel?
You can get a shimano sedona fro about $50 and it is a great reel, very smooth and durable with a very strong yet smooth drag. Then you have another $50 to get him some lures or something.

New to soft bait scene need advice
The choices you have said are all the staples of plastics fishing. If you want to try something a little different try Gambler ugly otter tails they are a creature bait that is impregnated with garlic scent. I kill large and small mouth on them. I like the color that looks the most like the craw. They are great but they stink. Don't sniff them too hard or you won't want to eat for the rest of the day. (seriously)

PowerPro
I used to use power pro exclusively, but after hearing on this forum all the good things about sufix, I tried it. Now that is all I use I even traded all my power pro for sufix braid. The stuff is awesome.

Bass Pro Shops
That was sweet. I must say that looked like a lot of fun. ;D ;D

Braided line on baitcasters
For the first time I put braided line on my casting reel (sufix braid). After 10 casts I wanted to hang myself with the line. I had 10 backlashes. Now I am not new to baitcasters, but I have always used mono or floro on my casting reels and never have had a problem with back lashes. I tried messing with the brake and spool tension and just could not get the right settings. Am I doing something wrong? Is there that much of a difference between mono and braid on a baitcaster? HELP!!! :'(

I need some help.... AGAIN!!!
The croix you mentioned is basically one step up from a Wal-mart model. The Clunn I was told by several people at bps is a piece of crap. That leaves the falcon, all star, and Van Dam. Any of these three would be great but I would rank the them based on the company they are made by and their reputatin. #1 Falcom Lowrider-- Awesome sensitive rod #2 All Star-- close second to Falcon #3 Van Dam-- I am always wary of buying somethng with a pros name on it. Chances are he doesn't evan use that exact model. #4 St. Croix-- Yeah it is a St. Croix, but really how much "croix" can they put into a $100 rod. #5 Clunn-- I have owned 3 BPS rods and all three have broken in the first year of use. I will never buy nor recommend a BPS rod ever again. When it comes down to it they really are all good rods. Find the one YOU like best. You have to get what is best for YOU.

GULP ALIVE
I just came in from the pond in my back yard. I was so excited the first cast before it even had a chance to sink I had a #2 on the line. On the second cast I dragged it through a bed and landed A #4plus. It was awesome the stuff really stinks. After that I made a few more cast with no more success, so I don't know if the goo wore off or the fish just stopped biting (it was 2:00 in the afternoon). Overall I think they are great baits. I rigged a sionking minnow weightless texas style and it was great, next time I would put a sinker on it. It was hard to keep the bait in one place without drifting too far.

FYI on a bargain!
I ordered some last week and got them a couple days ago. I got 3 packs of each color and it was about $21, what a deal. They look like they would be great for dropshotting, although they seem kinda small for texas rigging, but maybe you would just need to use a small hook. They are great looking and I have already caught 5 fish on the rootbeer/fleck color.

Yo Zuri Line
I tried some yo zuri #15 and it seems stiff as a board. Didi I get the wrong weight, does it need to be broken in or is it just that stiff? I have seen several people on this forum speak very highly of yo zuri so I thought I would try it (plus my local gander mtn. had it for $2.49 per spool of 250 or 300 yds, can't pass that up. Even if I end up using it for backing). I wondered if line conditioner would make a difference.

Polarized Sunglasses...what frame/lens color/brand???
I have found that the maui jim kanapali glasses are the best at cutting glare and they are less than 2oz. They are very expensive ($280). I got mine for free when I worked at Dick's sporting goods, but they are by far the most compfortable and best polarizing glasses I have found. I also have a pair of oakleys and a pair of Wiley X, if you can't spend $280 I personally like he wiley X the next best followed by Costa Del Mar. I think you just need to find something in the price range you want that you lik

Cheap reel?
If you want a baitcaster, go with the ol' stand by, the Abu garcia ambassadeur. It is not low profile but they are bullet proof and you can find them for $40-$140 depending on the model.

Rod Questions
The bps rods are great because when they break you can take it back and get a new one. But that is also a problem, THEY BREAK! I am always trying new gear and purchased 2 JM series rods for $99, a great deal, or so I thought. Yeah they felt good, but not as good as my st. croix or my loomis. Save a little longer and buy a croix or loomis. It took me several years to convince myself that they are worth the money, but when I bought my first I was amazed and I will not go back. Go on ebay or the flea market here and you should be able to get a good deal. :

GULP ALIVE
Has anyone tried the gulp alive, I picked some up at cabelas and am interested to try it. Let me know if you have had any luck with it. I picked it up mainly for walleye but there are several patterns that "should" work great for bass.
