  1. you could use it to beat the dog, or maybe practice your javelin throw, the olympics are only a few years away ;D
  2. One of their independent sales people was at a lake I was fishing last year and I looked at them. They look and feel like a Loomis without the name. I didn't fish with one but just from handling one you could tell it was a very good rod especially for $129. I have thought long and hard about trying one out, just haven't pulled the trigger.
  3. Go with the Sol I just held one at BPS yesterday and when I got home I ordered 2 they are sweet. My second choice would be the zillion.
  4. G-Loomis 843 IMX paired with a Zillion
  5. Aren't they sweet. I just ordered 2 myself, haven't fished them yet but they feel sooooo nice. Might be the only reels I buy....ok I still want a zillion
  6. Like calcutta said the conolon is actually not bad I have a buddy who swears by it. He has I think 5 of them. He uses it for everything from plastics to throwing musky lures. I have have tried it before and for the money is actually pretty good. That being said if you are used to a high dollar rod you will find faults with it, but for @$40 if seems way better than the indestructible UGLY STICK. After that I would say go with the ugly stick, you can't break them and they have a good soft tip that would work good for cranks, and when you save up the money to upgrade you can hang on to the ugly stick for pond fishing, a guest rod, or they are a great rod for kids to learn with b/c they have a lot of give, you can't break them and you can cast them a country mile. JMO But really the conolon is not a bad rod for the money.
  7. For a little less money you could check out the new Legend elites, I just got one and was blown away by it. I have never had a GLX spinning rod but the casting rod I had was sweet. I would say it is probably a toss up between those 2. But I will say those are both a definite step up from the Legend Tournament, Kistler, or IMX. But worth the extra $100-$150 that is "the question" and it depends on who you talk to what the answer will be. Check out the Legend Elite 68mxf is is awesome
  8. Trilene. It is perfect if you add some KVD line and lure to it. Invizx is nice and limp but to me it feels like it stretches closer to what a mono does. JMHO
  9. No kidding!!! I bought OK rods at first and now I am upgrading but if I had just taken my time buying the ones I really wanted I would have saved time money and headaches, and now I wouldn't have to explain to my wife why I "need" a new rod.
  10. I will pm and tell you more.
  11. you can have one custom made for you by "cook's or Oregon custom rods" for about $200, He made me a 783 last year and the rod itself was sweet. I had him make it with a split grip and it weighed less than 3.5oz. I just sold it on this site b/c I didn't like the split grip but you can get a lot of rod for the money. http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk301/coolhandlala/DSC02039.jpg He made both of these for me last year.
  12. yeah but some reels don't even come left handed so we still get it most of the time.
  13. I'm in the same boat do I hold out and get the zillion I have been drueling for or do I just get the mg.
  14. reel mechanic makes some sweet rods I hear.
  15. Just wondering. My head spins when I look at what is available. Just wondered what everyone else thought. I am torn between the MG, Zillion, and Premier.
  16. Has anyone tried them yet? What did you think? A local shop is having a 10% off sale tomorrow and they have 4 zillions in stock so I thought about picking one up to try. On sale they are $180 which sounds like a great price. They alsoo have several curara that will be $162 so mybe I' grab one of those. Anyone haver any thoughts on the zillions let me know.
  17. check out this site they have some good prices depending on what you are looking for. www.baitnhook.net
  18. would you say that it is smaller or bigger than the revo? It appears from pics that the reel foot isn't as resessed as the revo, is this so? If I had a easy way to compare them vs driving 3 hrs I would but since I don't I will take your guys word for it. Thanks for the info.
  19. I would really like to hold a zillion, but the only place in Michigan that carries them is Cabelas and that is 3.5hrs away.
  20. that is why i am so torn the zillion looks ssssweet, but weighs alot and the premier is super light but is pretty plain.
  21. I am in need of a new reel and I have it narrowed down to these 2. I have never had either, I have always had shimanos. Just wondering what helpful info anyone had on these two reels.
  22. I take two week long trips to canada for walleye and pike each year and I use either powerpro, sufix, or fireline and have never had a trouble with them breaking off, I never use a leader.
