  1. Warning taken J but I'm going to be a idiot and try it anyway cause I enjoy doing it and it would be fun. I got nothing to loose and I'm sure I'll learn something even if its not what I expected to learn. Capt.O
  2. I had a friend who did that payed off his car and some of his college too. Its hard work long hours and with the price of gas maybe not so easy to make money. But as a 20 who owns his own company I can say nothing beats working for yourself. And its a double edge sword so be careful. If you do get started doing it PM me I know how to get local services on the internet and I'd like to help you. Capt.O
  3. Francho your thinking about this in the wrong way. I'm not talking about comparing a trick worm to a senko. I'm talking about comparing a 5in senko to another 5in senko but have a different weight. In other words think of a line of senko's with a Fast fall rate a slow fall rate and a floater. Same bait but depending on the conditions you can use it in different ways. If I'm fishing a C-Ring,Shaky head, or T-rig I would use the floater cause I want it to be just above the bottom. If I'm going down a bank in summer and I'm fish a weightless senko I'd us one with a fast fall rate so I can hit my spots and move on. If it’s cold and I need a nice slow fall I'd use the slow fall rate. Custom soft plastics guys have been doing this for years so what is so different in applying the same principles to brand name baits? Rick Clunn has made a living off of fishing the same bait as everyone else is but in different ways or modifying them a bit. Thinking outside the box never hurts in bass fishing and it’s not like we are shooting in the dark. We know that fall rates affect the fish. All that’s left to do is measure the elements and see what we can come up with. Just so happens that we are considering the element of weight here. Just remember that geniuses have been called fools by those with more "Wisdom". Not say this would be ground breaking but hey we all love tinkering with tackle and this might turn out to be interesting. Capt.O
  4. They do a good job down here. When you hear them you know its bad. I've heard them next to my house twice and each time it was really bad. They also test them a lot but they only do that down here in the mornings with blue skys.
  5. My Dad loves to fish but he has all ways been a hook line and sinker fisherman. I have taught myself everything I know about bass fishing, and I have passed it on to my Dad and my younger brothers. My dad never used lures until I finally I got him going and my younger brother thinks he is the next Dean Rojas cause he only uses frogs. Everything I've learned I ether researched and found out for myself or I asked here. BassResource.com really made me the fisherman I am today. Capt.O
  6. They found Ryan,He didn't make it. And they don't think the Mom is going to pull though. Please keep them in your prays. Prays to RW hope he is ok. Capt.O
  7. To have free choice you need to have an ability to choose. And I have yet to see someone have a say in what there gender is. Capt.O
  8. Well it looks like I'm crazy But you guys already knew that. But I'm going to do my homework and I got a feeling this might be possible. I'll let you guys know how it works out. Tight Lines, Capt.O
  9. I disagree that this information is useless. Now if you want it to help with rod selection then your barking up the wrong tree. But that information for fall rates would be very useful. Boyd Duckett says that fall rate is one of the most important factors for him and one that amateurs don't pay enough attention to. But in this case he was talking about weights Now will changing a lure with different fall rate make you your catch rate go up like a rocket, Nope. But maybe using a senko with a different fall rate will help you put in that last fish for a limit. The biggest details are ones that we don't always think about. This might be one of those things that can give you that slight edge on the competition. It be cool to get a group of guys together to test this theory and see what we could find. Might be something interesting. I'll be weighing some plastics tonight. Capt.O
  10. Heres a link to the story guys and a Picture of the missing child http://edmond.kfor.com/news/families/rescue-efforts-continue-falcon-lake-edition/79031
  11. So in a few months time (due to cash flow problems) I'll be in the market for a new flipping rod. I'm looking at getting one in the $140-$160 range. The name brand rods I'm looking at are Pinnicles, Ducketts, Powels. Now what I want to know is could I get a custom rod in that price range that is just as good as those rods? Now I'm thinking about a bait casting rod that is 7'6" MH with a fast tip. I will be fishing with braid so high quality guides are a must but they don't have to be the latest and greatest. I don't need a bunch of high end upgrades. Just a blue collared hard working rod that has good quality components and quality craftsmanship. Like I said I don't need it to be on par with a G.Loomis GLX rod but I'd like it to compete with brand rods in the 140-160 range. I understand a lot depends on choice of components and such. So For a Max of $160 (I'll go a little over for S&H) do think I could have this done or am I better off get a brand name rod? All opinions welcome. Capt.O
  12. Don't Worry I'll keep you guys posted and thanks for all the prays. Capt.O
  13. Thanks man I was afraid of that it seems that when rod makers try to something of high value for a good price craftsmanship always seems to suffer. I'm not talking about some name brand stuff but just in general. Capt.O
  14. Long Mike I'm good friends with the relations of that family your talking about, they lost there 15 month old child Cole and there three year old Ryan is missing. Please pray that they didn't loose two children guys. Capt.O
  15. Keep Us in Your Prays guys this isn't over. We don't have just one tornado we are getting Blitz by multiple ones. A buddy of mine lost his house please keep him and his family in your prays. I've been in and out of the storm shelter three times already. It seems like we have 20 minutes of peace then bang another one is coming our way. Tornadoes have touch down from DFW to the Oklahoma border. Its going to be a very very long night. Capt.O
  16. Oklahoma is going to have problems The storms just passed over my house with some nasty rotation. Blew over some big oak trees. Denton Texas and Fort Worth both had touch downs. If Your up in Oklahoma Above Gainesville take cover cause its bad. Capt.O
  17. I'm posting this from my storm shelter tornado is about 10 miles south of my home. Guess tornadoes do hit small Texas towns after all.I'll let you know how it go's after I'm done waiting it out. Capt.O
  18. I'm just looking for anyone who has ever used these rods. Heres a link to them if your haven't B & R Outlaw Rods
  19. I Cat Haz Carp lol
  20. Welcome Back Top :cheer: Thank You For Your Service Capt.O
  21. I think Tyrius got it right these things are huge. Hope everyone understands that my question was not a "Texas is great" statement. It was just a odd fact that I noticed. But I will say that when we have big ones they tend not to be to close to towns though Wichita Falls had one which was a mile long at the bottom back before my time. I hear that the weather is going to stay nasty over there for a little while hope those that are alive can get shelter. Capt.O
  22. Jedi Master Gone_Phishin Teach me the ways of the blazen' challenge you must Capt.O
  23. That town got leveled, Prays sent to any member that lives down there. BTW I have a question? Living in Texas we have are fair share of Tornadoes and more than a few hit towns every year. When they hit us we have like 3 deaths and 12 missing. It seems that every tornado outside of Texas and Oklahoma this year has caused massive death totals. Are other states not prepared to handle these storms or what? I just think that there has to be a reason that we don't loose that many people at once. Capt.O
