Recommended Posts

We are passed the drain and headed down the sewer as a society with this sort of stuff.

3rd paragraph

This is only the latest example of what seems to be a New-Age, gender-bending agenda pushed into the mainstream media by those who refuse to accept the traditional sex differences between men and women. A couple in Toronto, Canada has sparked outrage because they refuse to assign a specific gender to their infant “Storm,” preferring instead to believe “a child’s sex should not determine his or her place in the world.”

If "Storm" is a hermaphrodite...maybe this is ok. Maybe.

These people should not be reproducing.

I thought I lived in a nation that has evolved to where men and women are equal. Now, I don't mean to contradict the statement I just made, but men and women are not equal. Each has a specific role going back to the begining. The men being the hunters and gatherers, and the women bearing and raising children. Thru the evolution of the U.S. men and women have learned to share their roles but I believe that is fueled primarily by the cost of living and women who have an extra Y chromosome.

freakin morons. thumbs up for "Turning your child into your own "tribute to freedom and choice" is unbelievably self-serving. Storm deserves to be loved for everything he or she is, not to be a pawn in the messed-up agenda of his/her parents."

Only thing that bothers me is the term single-sex Hawaiian geckos and transgender clownfish.

Once upon a time, schools taught the three R's, readin' and 'ritin' and 'rithmetic. The social stuff, and the birds and the bees were the parent's responsibility to teach their children as they saw fit. Same for morals and ethics. Now kids can't read, write, do simple math in their heads, but they sure are indoctrinated in philosophy, beginning at very early ages.

Philosophy is fine at the college level, after they have a useful, functional education to be productive in society. Schools are putting the cart before the horse. It's a sad commentary that colleges have to provide remedial classes for the basic fundamentals that should have been taught in K through twelve.

Just makes a guy wonder if Irene is a she, a he, or somewhere in between! :D

We prefer not to say. We want Irene to be able to come out whenever he/she desires.

I have to be objective, the article was written by a conservative writer for a conservative web site. I don't really know what information was covered in the class and how it was presented. I wonder if the writer was actually there, didn't notice any mention that she was, had she been there she may gotten a education. The article screams of biasness, I don't form an opinion until I hear both sides of a story.

As far as this topic being presented in a public school maybe not the best idea, but how parents bring up their children at home is their business. At home my wife and I welcomed the opportunity to have these kinds discussions with our kids and now our kids are doing the same with theirs.

My GAWD who cares...seriously.

"omg a teacher is teaching my child about genderless who-ha"

WHO CARES

I hate things like this because it just feels like people argue for the sake of arguing. It has nothing to do with my life whatsoever So I do not care.

Wanna teach my kid that? Fine. it will probably not have any effect on them in life at all and maybe it will actually teach them something so that when they see a Pat walking down the street they dont freak out.

Seriously it boggles my mind why ANYONE would give a **** about this at all.

What he said... as well as the points snook made.

Parents do. This is their territory. Reading, math, science, etc. is the school's. Hermaphroditic clownfish has what to do human sexuality or gender? I just don't get the comparison, or how either brings up the opportunity to discuss the other. Makes zero sense.

What boggles my mind is the amount of basic teaching I've been burdened with by my sons' teachers. Here's an example of the time wasted in the classroom.

LOL, normally I don't care about this stuff either, and I'm pretty liberal. This is just stupid.

That sums it up perfectly.

Wild guess, no kids?

Yea but what does that have to do with anything? I still understand the reasoning for what I said and IF i had kids i would still have the same point.

Look, a majority of who a child becomes in the future relies on the parents anyway, not the schools. I think that the main goal when being a parent is to make sure your child is not : a druggie, a criminal, a prostitute, etc...all the major stuff. If you can do that, you have succeed as a parent. All the other stuff about who they become and how they treat others thats all based on you as well, but not the schools.

If my kid came home and said " my teacher taught us about people who are not male or female"

I would say "hey cool! what's that all about"

Now if I were like this morons i would say " OMG! WHAT?!?! AHHHH *calls school and channel 5* ..screams..yells on the phone"

Now you tell me: what is going to mess your child up more? being relaxed and interested in their teachings or flipping out in front of your child as he looks in horror.

Look at the source. I have to agree it's highly biased and written for shock value. Probably not much "fact" in it at all.

Besides, this topic is nothing new. The hippies were saying this and a whole lot more in the '60's.

Much ado about nothing.

Moving on....
