  1. Broke the reel apart again. I cleaned and lubricated the reel and now it seems to be working properly. So if your bait caster starts to scream take it apart, clean and lube it up.
  2. I actually just finished reassembling it. I cleaned and oiled it. It seems to be better. Ill tie on a casting plug and find out come morning. Thanks.
  3. I have a 5:1:1 Pflueger Criterion (Bottom line I know). My old cranking reel has just croaked on me. I had to have something so I bought this from a co-worker at a lovely $7. He said it worked but made a noise, thinking, "how bad could it be?" I took it out and wouldn't you know it screams like a bob-cat when you throw it. Any suggestions on how to fix it? Again its a 5:1:1 Pflueger Criterion (burnt orange). I have a tournament Sunday so I have to get this thing in working order. Please help.
  4. $22 is kind of pricey for a beer bong LOL!! I quote cabela's here, "Item notes: For sanitary reasons we are unable to accept returns. Please be sure of your choice before ordering."
  5. I had the DIS-pleasure of fishing with a good friend of mine on his private lake while he was intoxicated. I found it very disruptive and even as I was controlling the trolling motor (no need for the outboard) I found it rude and obnoxious to 1. set the hook on nothing very very hard and rock the boat and 2. YELL at the top of his lungs if he did hook a fish. I feel if you want to drink in your boat go ahead, but I personally do not. I don't frown upon or condone those who do, unless (as in this case) it directly affects me and my well being (or fishing). Just my 4 cents worth.

  7. Mr. Breland, I think everything you stated may have been already addressed in some way on this thread. Also I feel that you have to first be able to catch fish before you attempt to get any sponsorship, seeing as how your entire income/sponsorship would rely on you winning and doing well in tournaments, even if that is not %100 of the job. The seminars, hospital visits, and other appearances may play a big role, but i.m.o you will not make it to that point without being able to fish.
  8. Welcome, if you need anything just PM. 8-)
  9. Half netbait saltlick (senko), rigged through the nose with a small gamakatsu octopus hook. Jerk the ever livin out of it with a steady retrieve. my partner and I call it , "Stanky Leg."
  10. Definitely need another Borat bikin in the car washing, donut selling, rod auctioning, line up lol.
  11. I had a red eye shad stuck in both pinkies. Needless to say, not much could be done except a visit to ER.
  12. SHAKY worms by Davis Bait or NETBAIT finesse worms.
  13. ... wow. That's all I can say. :-? Check out some of Mr. Bagwell's info/articles about sponsors. You should probably worry more about the fish. If you catch the fish the sponsors will come. Kinda like field of dreams. Also, I don't want to jump on the grammar train, but you would be the face of the company to the bass scene and it would be hard to get someone to buy your product if you can't spell the name of the product or the company. Try to not be lazy and thoroughly check the forum before you post, odds are it has already been asked.
  14. It sucks yes, but in other sports (football for example) two year schools do not play in the same league as 4yr. institutions. And I'm not saying a four year school is better than a two or anything like that. It's just the way it is. They should look into possibly making a two year division for the trail or something of that nature. Also I agree that the FLW deal provides an excellent springboard to professional fishing and with the growing popularity of college bass fishing it does not surprise me that there are too many teams already involved with the FLW. Best of luck!
  15. Ardent reels are made in the good ole USA and even sponsor the Army Bass Angler Team, which is a great group of guys. But yes Ardent are made here in the states. Decently priced I might add.
  16. I agree with previous posts on this topic. Its important to keep bass and release bass, its the balance that keeps fishing healthy. I also agree that how much we spend is irrelevant and depending where you fish, HOPEFULLY there is more than one 5lber for you to catch. Lastly, as long as he was a license carrying angler and respected all legal limits its his business what he did with his fish. It stinks that topics get so heated, let's just fish.
  17. Hello guys, I fish on the Troy U team in Alabama. We are looking for ways to raise money for the club, any and all fund-raising ideas, comments, would be much appreciated. Thanks David
  18. Sent you a PM with some info.
  19. Howdy from Southeast Alabama! LOVE those spotted bass up in Lay!!! Great to have you aboard.
  20. Now, this is an experience from a pond shortly after a deluge, so I don't know how well it would translate to a river, lake, etc... Rain run off water was flooding into the pond from a large pipe, stirring the water. I ran rooster tails, spinner baits, and cranks through with tons of success. Just something to keep in mind.
  21. Yes, you can use just a trolling motor with them. Its better to have a 2.5 or 3 hp motor if you want to get out on a bigger lake, but most people that buy them around here just use 30,40,55 lb thrust motors to get them up and down creeks and around ponds. I know the pelican bass raider can hold up to a 2.5 hp and has front/back hook ups for trolling motor.
  22. Welcome to the forum, hope its as good to you as it has been to me. Enjoy!!
  23. See the warden out all the time, but never been checked. Personally always fished with a license since, my father always instructed me to do so. I hope the money makes it back to do the waters we fish better, but who knows in this day and age.
  24. I usually don't use trailers either, but when I do I go with the NETBAIT Paca Chunk or Tiny Paca. Thats a crawfish type trailer and I usually match it to the Davis X-Swim spinnerbait.
