  1. I'm sure they were referring to the Gen 1 rods. The new rods are a completely redesigned blank made in a different factory.
  2. Catch a smallmouth. Catch a Muskie. Get my wife hooked....right now I get up too early and stay too long Build my own rod arsenal...hope to start soon Catch a DD in KY...not originally mine but it fits Go to Guntersville, fork, erie, champ, ky lake, falcon, amistad, clear lake, the delta, and smallie/pike/walleye fishing in Canada Meet Aaron Martens......to name a few Oh....and peacocks in South America
  3. I've never been too interested in fenwick rods but I recently put hands on a few and they all feel of greater quality than price. Even the Eagle GT feels like a rod twice it's price. Apparently some didn't read the post.
  4. I've casted a serrano and they feel like a really nice reel. They are small little reels, which I like, and palm nicely. They cast very well and has a smooth retrieve.
  5. http://www.berkley-fishing.com/products/rods-combos/rods/cherrywood There you go....5'6''M, affordable, and even has a red blank
  6. I was gonna say they were over priced but at the price of a standard zillion....you got a deal. If they sell them for that price and the MSRP is $400, I wonder what the wholesale price is, no one is going to sell a reel for less than wholesale at a tackle shop. Anyway, that's a great deal. As for the rod, I'd put it on the Zillion but that's because my SHA is on a 7'MH Zillion. Just a quick question....is the 6'9'' a broomstick? I feel like my 7'MH fishes above most other companies H rods and my 7'M around a MH.
  7. That's what it sounds like to me, I throw crappie jigs on 8lb line with my 7'M Damiki Dark Angel. I have never had trouble casting them, the distance isn't great but enough to catch fish.
  8. I have a buddy who's dad has a Premier cranking rod, and he really liked it. He then bought himself an Avid cranking rod, both are good rods. The Premier is light and has a nice actio to it.
  9. Microlite is the name of the rod, the power he posted was a Light power.
  10. I use JJs and megastrike.
  11. That was on a jitterfish? I can't get any action out of mine, it just pushes water and glides to one side until about 3/4 of the way back
  12. As far as I can tell they are nothing alike. Quantum uses an externally adjustable centrifugal braking system (ACS) that is specific to most if not all their reels. The Carbonlite has a DBS which is prominent within the Pure Fishing circle of companies. The drags are also different with a Rulon drag on the Carbonlite and a PT Ceramic drag on the smoke. There's honestly nothing similar with the exception of foam grips that are different shapes.
  13. My favorite jerkbat is an Owner Cultiva Rip-n Minnow 68 SP which I think has been discontinued :'( . I have caught more fish on that bait than any other jerkbait. I also like the smaller pointers but the Cultiva is unmatched in my book.
  14. Powell has really done it right IMO. They brought out a single series and focused solely on them and built a name, in bass fishing, focusing all there resources to refine that series. I think it is rime for them to add another line but I don't think the max series is going anywhere.
  15. Nothing special except the color. They are designed like Tackle Warehouse rods with purple instead of red. When it all boils down to it, it's a Max with a facial.
  16. 7'MH-F 6.4:1 reel I use a 7'MH Avid with a Pflueger Supreme 64LP.
  17. Lucky Craft RC 1.5, Norman Fat Boy, SK 4s, and though it has a coffin lip, I really like the Norman Thin N
  18. I bought one last week, took it out yesterday for the first time and really like it. For some reason it took me a few casts to really get it down but once you get it dialed it seems like a great little reel. If you are gonna get on take a look around ebay...I got mine at a great discount
  19. Agreed....the President is pretty close to the Pro Qualifier so $68 is a great deal
  20. ABT makes a ghost swimbait that pretty much the SK King and King Kong Shads. Jackall also makes the Giron in ghost colors.
  21. My thoughts exactly when I saw that...It's a relatively new fence, they put it up right after they moved in about 1 1/2 months or so ago so it's only been up about 3 weeks. As soon as I looked outside I thought " those posts weren't deep enough". We are looking to put one up for our yard, hopefully they do a little better job with the repair. I remember putting up a fence for a Dr. I worked for in high school and he had us dig bell shaped holes so they wouldn't work loose as easily when the horses and cows scratched on them.
  22. Like Daiwa needs an new 7.3 zillion or another reel to retail at $269. I think the reel problem is having them at similar prices but not offering any major differences. One of the best things I've seen happen is the price drop on the BPS JM Signature Series reel.
