Why dual brakes?
I find the Abu linear mag brake to be a poor braking system for the prices. The addition of a centrifugal brake makes them more user friendly. I loved it on my patriarchs at first, the mag is good to have for a quick fix but on it's own, the mag brake is lacking. Daiwa has magnetic brakes down, shimano has a great 6-pin centrifugal system with the VBS, and quantum has a decent externally adjustable centrifugal system. Abu did ramp up their mag brakes with the new reels, or at least it seems that way when comparing both SX models.

Tornado Watch
It was pretty bad here too, I was going to try out my new Curado 50E but woke up to pouring rain and 35-50mph winds. Looked out the back door and saw this.... Thought it was best to stay in.

new rod delima....again
I'd say stick with the Avid, I really like mine. I wouldn't settle for a G-Loomis under the IMX, they just aren't impressive. No experience with the Crucial.

BPS bionic blade
A pretty good deal when on sale. They aren't the best in the world but they get the job done. I really liked my extreme spinning rods that I had, my dad ended up with both and I even bought him one of his own. I don't think you'd regret paying $60 for one, pretty good at that price

What gear ratio for swimbait rod
I've got a Cardiff 300A on my 8' MH Muskie rod filled with 80lb braid. I think it's a 5.8:1 ratio and it does just fine. I've also got a revo toro 50-HS which is a 6.4:1 ratio on my 7'9" MH swimbait rod. I like both reels but think I prefer the Cardiff.

Ike snapping verdict rod
. Ive handled a few verdicts and they feel very light and have a thin diameter blank. They do feel a bit more fragile than the vendetta or veritas but in a good way, I mean they should feel thinner at twice the price. It feels like a quality blank and doesn't feel full of resin like the vendetta.

Ike snapping verdict rod
If you could have seen the rods that were sold on eBay when he went to Abu. Some rods were "lightly used" and missing 1-4 guides in the middle of the rod. He is in no way easy on his equipment.

Jabberwock Evolution & D.R. supertuned Calcutta TE 100DC
Nice.... Now, I noticed the handle was bent. Did you close it in the hummer door? Better make sure it doesn't void the warranty ;D

powell rods
Powell makes a good rod for their price point. they are comparable to the Dobyns Savvy and Kistler Magnesium but at a lower price. I've not used that specific rod but really like the 704c,705c, and 766c that I have used.

Full or Split grip?
I prefer split grips but a full grip doesnt lessen the appeal of a rod to me. It's all about how the whole rod is put together.

catching soild white bream
They were deep, less light makes it down there so they adapt. Ever caught a bass out of really cold, muddy water? ...as opposed to clear, dark, warm water...

Same reels or Different reels?
I have a variety of different reels, both models and manufacturers. Most were obtained through deep discounts and great deals. I have 3 Shimano Curado e7s, an e5, a Stradic Ci4, Citica, and Cardiff; 2 Daiwa Sols, a Fuego, Zillion, Pixy, and an Alpha; 2 Pfleuger Patriarchs and a Supreme; 2 Quantum Energies (one casting, one spinning) and a Code; a Revo SX and a Toro; a Mitchel Avocet, BPS Pro Qualifier round reel, and Okuma Trio. I think that's it.

Went with the Revo STX!
I've fished with a '09 STX some, it's a pretty nice reel and a steal at $120

New reel poll (REVO added), I'm getting a citica
I said Citica but if the PQ is still on sale then I'd say it's a winner

Pinnacle Platinum Plus & my buddy
I'm sure the platinum plus is worth the money. When an upgrade is in order, the Pro Qualifier, Citica, Tierra, and mid ranged Quantums seem like winners to me.

Which reel out of this list?
I'd say either the Energy, SX, or Curado (I'd go E7)...I have all three and prefer the Curados... as for the Victory reel

Spinning rod suggestion/reel match
The 30 size is a good size for lighter line. The 703 would be a good choice, I'd rather have a stronger rod. I throw crappie jigs on my 7'M-XF Damiki Dark Angel with 8lb flourocarbon without any trouble

Glass Rods
I've got the 7'MH Lucky Craft and love it. It is very sensitive and easy to distinguish between rock, grass, and wood. It's kinda heavy but nowhere near unfishable. The action of the rod is pretty stiff for a crankbait rod but it's got a tip to launch a bait and the backbone to play the fish. If you don't like the 7'M I'll take it off your hands

Carrot Stix?
I've had 4 Carrot Stix, 3 Gold and 1 LTX. I sold the LTX but still have the three Golds, great "moving bait" rods IMO. I like the Carrot Stix, had some trouble with the guides on my first one but the newer ones seem better. Never broke one. The colors may be a little much for some but stick a Sol or Amber Orange Pixy on a Gold and it's like they're made for each other.

e21 21 gold stix
I have both the Powell Max and Dobyns Savvy, never fished a crucial. I have to say that the Golds are better balanced, more sensitive, and a helluva lot lighter than any of them. The actions are a little slower than stated and the finish sucks but for the current prices, they can't be touched by anything in that lower price range. You may get alot of hate on them but very few will have experience. I've had trouble with the finish and guides and I still bought two more. Also alot of talk about them breaking, I've put my 6'10"MH through alot the past few years and it's still going strong, it may not be the prettiest rod but it can take a beating.
