I've used to have the same problem on another rod that had an ECS reelseat. I found out that I wasn't tightening it enough, it just needed a good tightening.

A tube is a must for me, went through a phase where I wouldn't use them, wanted to use something else. They are a great all around bait, small enough profile to get little bites but resemble a forage that catches big fish. The info from your dad is just old thinking, kinda like a suspending jerkbait one works in cold, clear water.

There was alot of drooling over the patriarch but IMO the stylings of the supreme are money. Gonna get one and know it's gonna be awesome.

What kind of noise? I know it can be hard to describe but it might help.

I have fished Big Tom's Powell 704c, well own one now, and have a 704 Savvy. They are both stupendous rods and fish very similar. I prefer the Savvy though, it looks a little better. The Powell is a very minimalist rod, the Savvy has a bit of bling but not much. You should be happy with either.

I cleaned a Carrot Stix Gold handle with a Magig Eraser yesterday....they work wonderfully, I'll have to take an after picture and post a before....it was nasty. I bought a rod off of a member here last year some time and it had been treated with U-40. It looked nice but I didn't care for the feel of it, plus it always looked wet

I have a few cavitrons and a tube of megastrike. I've used the megastrike without luck so far but I don't take it out every time. I've had the same tube for about 1 1/2 years and it's over half full. I don't use alot of scents, I've had the same two bottles of jjs for 2 years. I don't fish the cavitrons much either but I rarely fish a buzzbait. I am interested in the plastics though.

I've been using a Sol on a 7'10''M Carrot Stix Gold to throw Strike King Series 5 & 6 baits for the past few outings. My only problem is I just about spool the thing on every cast. I've had no trouble handling fish on it.

I have a 7'MH-F avid but no experience with the LTB. I didn't know they made an XF, wait, I see it's new this year. I like the 7'MH but it feels heavy to me, I've heard others say that too. I would say there is a weight and balance difference between the two. Have you been able to handle the rod?

Quantums don't, just pick up some Abu oil and grease at walmart, it's not great but it's better to use reel oil and grease. I think it's like 2-3 bucks

Any resistance from hooks would be negligible. I dont understand what you meant by saying the spool tension was mint. Does the bait fall when the button is pressed without any help, if not, back off the spool tension. IIRC, 4 isn't a step up from free spool, 2 would be, maybe your brake is too high.
