  1. I'm really hoping to catch my first musky this year. It's a little warm now but should be prime musky time here in a month or two. Is that a tiger musky?
  2. I'm sure it'd be fine. A H might be a little powerful for 3oz, I have a MH Tackle Industries musky rod rated for 6oz and it makes my 7'9"MH Dobyns Mike Long Swimbait Rod feel like a ML crankbait rod.
  3. I use a palomar without problem on everthing and with all types of line
  4. I had a CBR843 for a few months and absolutely hated it. It was severly underpowered for pretty much any crankbait I threw, an LC RC 1.5 absolutely pushed it to it's boundaries. It was very whippy and struggled casting heavier baits. If you are set on a Loomis, I'd go atleast with a H powered rod, if they make one. I tried to like the M but the 6'10"MH Carrot Stix Gold i was trying to replace blew it out of the water in all aspects IMO.
  5. I've got two, a 7'M and 7'MH, and love both rods. The 7'M is my tube/shakey head rod, paired with an Alphas 103. It's extremely light and balanced but powerful. My 7'MH doesnt have a set miche yet but i throw jigs, trigs, crigs, and swimbaits on it, it throws a Mattlures soft gill wonderfully. Many say the rods are underrated, that's an understatement the M fishes between M-MH while the MH is rated the same as a Dobyns, Powell, or Kistler H but fishes like my Powell MagH. I truly think they jumped almost 3 powers between the two which frightens me to think of a H . They both are extremely sensitive too, they are the most sensitive rods I own.
  6. High Speed Zillion on a 7'MH Zillion
  7. Mostly use CXX, I have some CX but don't use it much, no real reason, just don't. I use CXX from 8-20lb across the board with no problems. The benefit of CX comes with the manageability, it is extremely more manageable in higher diameters than CXX. Manageability is one of the last specs on my mind when using line, once it gets wet, you're good to go. I've seen Big Tom absolutely reek havoc in standing timber with 15lb CX and a 766 Powell. He was pulling fish out if the middle of a tree line with the drag buttoned down and horsing them to the top, not all small fish either. This is what most of the lake looks like, some places alot worse
  8. I use a palomar on everthing without problems
  9. for me, there isn't one, can't buy a bite on them.
  10. They aren't favortites by any means but Rapala X-rap, Spro BBZ Shad, flukes, and rage tail thumper (had one bite and it tore the tail off)
  11. I am nowhere near proficient in fishing a jig but I have come to learn a few things about them. The biggest misconception I had was that jigs are heavy baits that need to be thrown on heavy tackle, you hear alot of talk about flipping 3/4-1oz jigs on a 7'6''H rod. Once I realized that a 1/4-5/16oz jig is still a jig and gets a jig bite, it all changed for me and throwing jigs. I rarely throw above 1/2oz jigs, my favorite right now are Booyah Boo Jigs and Boo Bugs and SK Bitsy Flips and Bitsy Bugs. I really like round ball head finesse jigs, they may be small but they can throw a big profile. I also used to think you needed a big, bulky, craw trailer but I have come to like the ragetail baby craws, paca chunks, and things like the Zoom grass craw (craw imitating plastics that add image and a little bulk but not much action). It's all different for everyone, I like a smaller, finesse type profile, spider jigs and the such. Once you actually go out and try it, it should click, eventually.
  12. I took it out again Monday I believe and whacked a few more on a jig. Finally hooked into a larger fish and it handled her wonderfully. This thing is really growing on me and I am contemplating getting another when they are available, maybe the 7'3''MH. Here's the skinny girl that gave it a better workout, not much belly, it's actually negative I think, but she put up a pretty gppd fight
  13. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1280695513 Burley posted a few days ago, it was right under this thread. He has both and said there's no reason to put up the money for a Core with the new Curado.
  14. That looks nice, is that a Phenix rod? Looks like it to me, I used to hate the ACS reel seat, until I actually used one. It's comfortable to fish, I did notice I have to hold tge rod a tad different but it's not terrible.
  15. I like them all, a Dominos deep dish with pepperoni, chicken, and bacon is hard to beat but my favorite is a pepperoni Beast from Snappy Tomatoes
  16. I took my new Perfecta Tournament Class rod out for a little bit yesterday. My first impressions were very good http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1281405970 and my on the water experience wasn't lacking. As I noted before the weight and balance of the rod are pretty much on par with higher end rods. It's not the lightest but it is very light and when paired with my Patriarch, it is extremely balanced and comfortable to fish. I was spooled up with 14lb McCoy FC and started of with a 5/16oz Stanley jig. The sensitivity of the rod was surprising, you always a little voice in the back back of you're brain telling you not to expect too much from anything but this rod :-X that voice. Again, it's not the most sensitive rod I have fished but it is on par with the Dobyns Savvy, Powell Max, and St. Croix Avid and greater than the Kistler Magnesium which retails for the same price. I also fished a tube texas rigged with an internal weight, this rig dampened the sensitivity a bit since there wasn't direct contact of the lead and bottom contour. The power was there with this rod too. It had very since backbone and an action suited well for long casts. I caught three fish and lost another due to bad hook set, I was cleaning my glasses when it hit. None of the fish I caught were monsters, all around a pound, the one that came off felt a little bigger but it handled them all very well, also handled a huge branch like a champ. Overall, I would recommend the Perfecta rods to someone looking for a rod in their price range. I even liked the ACS reel seat which I had mixed feelings about at first. If you're looking for a rod in the $150 price range, the Pinnacle rods should be a consideration.
  17. Van damme is a pansy -gk hmmmmm....I'll politely disagree. After hearing why he declined Sly's offer, I kinda understand his side of things. I don't really agree with his desicion, I mean, this is the kind of movie that made him famous and it would be awesome if he were in it. other awesomeness
  18. He already fishes the victory reels

  20. I take it he wants a flourescent blue line. With blue lines I either have dedicated combos or fill my spare spinning spolls with blue line and change them out. I use BPS Ecel without problem but P-Line makes a blue CX Premium and I would go that way. If you want to stick with FC, I believe Stren makes a blue FC, it may be worth checking out.
