  1. I too have been thinking about some upgrades on my Daiwa reels....I'd start here http://www.smoothdrag.com/
  2. Thanks for asking this question as I have Ultrasoft 12# on my crankbait baitcasting setup as well and wasn't that impressed either. While I did like the 6# on my spinning setup which is a M/MF on my MH/MF it wasn't the greatest. Are you by any chance missing more fish then usual on your spinning rod? I use mine for mainly soft plastics and it seems as if i'm not digging the hook into the fish like i use to. I don't think its the rod or the hooks, maybe its the line? I used the regular hybrid for a while on my spinning setup.....I liked it but it was kinda stretchy, or at least it felt like it was to me....it was pretty strong and limp but I have come to like P-line Flouroclear for my spinning rods
  3. I have a Sol and an Alphas 103. Both are great reels, the Alphas has a higher gear ratio and better handle. Other than that, the 103 is Purple.
  4. CX is a little more limp and manageable, CXX tends to be a little stiff but the extra strength alows a smaller diameter. I use 10lb for the most part and fish around alot of rocks and bridge pilings, my line gets chewed up but CXX holds strong. Both lines are great, if memory bothers you, get CX, if you want crazy strong, CXX.
  5. I have a Carrot Stix Gold that I love and would probably choose it over the LTA in similar size any day. I have the 6'10''MH and a buddy has the 6'9''MH LTA, the Carrot Stix is lighter, the handles longer, and I feel it's more sensitive. It is, however, a little less powerful than the Kistler with a slightly whippy tip, makes it perfect for shallow cranks, jerkbaits, shakeyheads, and tubes.
  6. I use 10-12lb cxx on my cranking rod
  7. Heavier stuff? Heavy cover? Baits? Fish? Please clarify.
  8. They are pre orders. If you were to order one right now, you would get a back order notice until they wre released.
  9. I would say go with the STX too but I wouldn't buy it form Cabelas. If you are going to pay retail there for the SX, I would get an STX off of Ebay for the same price.
  10. I have two matte pumpkinseeds, one in each size, both shallow runners and have had good luck with them... <<<<< see I have actually caught bass with them too.
  11. That's why you talked me into getting one instead of buying one yourself you arse....at full price none the less. I hope you get that job so you can buy a Dobyns Champion : Personally I was on the fence....I had a 6'9''MH LTX, didn't hate it, didn't love it....Sold it. I have a 6'10''MH Gold and I'll fish it until it breaks, I've attempted to replace it but nothing can hold a light to it. Paired with a Daiwa Sol and it's just an amazing combo, it's light, balanced, sensitive, and FLASHY 8-) . I've had some trouble with the tip being grooved by copoly. It doesn't effect anything at the moment but it's a quick fix if it does....Any of you rod builders out ther want to rewrap it with micros for me?
  12. WHAT SHOWS HAVE YOU BEEN WATCHING ? I'M GONNA GO WITH CHAWLEE MAWWWWW
  13. I think I may need another
  14. haha....mos def I personally am not gonna match two rods up strictly on color alone. I have been fortunate to mix and match and combine a few combos that do match and fell really good together. My Sol and Carrot Stix Gold are almost perfect together, functionally and aesthetically. Likewise, my Damiki Dark Angel Rods are almost perfectly matched and balanced with my Stradic CI4 and Revo SX. Had I gotten a Mojo for my Alphas....well lets just say I wouldn't have a Mojo.
  15. I fish all different brands of hooks, I prefer Gammies or Owners but I also fish some BPS hooks, Mustad, and Hookerz Tackle. For the price, the Hookerz hooks are wonderful, I really like them and will be making other orders. I chose Owner because of the Mosquito hooks and Stinger trebles.
  16. 7'H is also included in the sale
  17. Ouch. Makes me want to go buy a bag of gummy worms. Swedish fish. Think drop shot. ;D
  18. Do we know when that 50e is going to be available?? Mid/late fall
  19. 20lb braid would be a good choice, got small diameter...not sure what size...don't use braid much
  20. I am going to assume that's a spinning setup. I started on a 6'6''M Berkley Lightening Rod and a Mitchell Avocet Gold. Less than $60 at walmart and still use it some. BPS has some good combo prices if you have one near, they usually have an Extreme/Pflueger President combo for $129 Dicks also has a decent selection of combos like the Quantum Code combo for around $100 My suggestion is take a look at tackle warehouse, free shipping over $50
  21. I saw that show the other day too. There was a Pacu caught out of Cave Run in Morehead a few years ago, not exactly a piranha but same family. They said someone probably had it as a pet and released it in the lake. I think I'd be more worried about the fresh water barracudas in that lake instead of a bluegill with teeth. I have also heard about a few being in a lake back home but I think that it's either a just a rumor or they were all caught or died out....gets to cold for them in the winter
  22. you could slap a rage tail on this bad boi
  23. Wasn't that right out of Duckett's mouth? That's the way the interview read to me
