  1. I've never fished one but my buddies dad has a Serrano and it is an intersting reel. It's really small and palms well. I made a few yard casts with it and it's definately a well built reel and casts very easily. I realy liked it and would give it a try.
  2. I have the 2500 and couldn't imagine anyone thinking it's over kill. It's a small reel, alot smaller than the size 40 Pflueger and 30 quantums that I fish. I have mine spooled with 8lb flouro-clear
  3. I was actually going to say the same thing about the SX with the addition that it's eco-friendly in that it builds it's own bird habitats with one small flick of the wrist.
  4. I've really gotten into the idea of rod building and am looking to try it. I want to know if the starter kits from mudhole are worth the money. I was thinking about buying a cheap rod kit for practice but what I'm wonder is, should I get this accessory kit with the drying motor? http://www.mudhole.com/Shop-Our-Catalog/Rod-Building-Supplies/Complete-Accessory-Kit-w-Drying-Motor Also wondering what are some good books, I've looked at them but are there ones that you guys recommend over the others?
  5. That sucks, never got a chance to see them live but always liked their music. I remember actually listening to the fist album and being blown away by some of the songs, I hadn't really been into metal before that, lots of hardcore punk but nothing like them. Really helped to bring Nu-Metal up front.
  6. Zara Original Spook, Super Spook, Super Spook Jr., Zara Puppy. The larger Heddon lures are probably the easiest topwaters to work....PERIOD. I don't care for how the LC Sammy sits in the water, everyone Ive seen sits almost like a floater, straight up and down
  7. My dad taught me how to fish, he does very little bass fishing, mostly catfish and crappie. I remember him taking me bass fishing once at night when I was in grade school, he had me throw a big spinnerbait all night. I started really bass fishing in college with a buddy, we found this site and went from there. I didn't really try at first but then my girlfriend bought me the BPS 100 pc. Bucket-o-Baits and that's when I learned about the soft stick bait and wacky rigging. Thats where I was first hooked, all it took was a 5'' Stick-o and an Eagle Claw baitholer hook. Thanks to this site and youtube videos I slowly taught myself new techniques.
  8. I'd go with the Curado, I have 4 and one citica, both are good but the curado is better. The new SX may be good bit the older one was so tough to dail in and too touchy for me. Watch this...he has some good insights on gear
  9. He does a booyah review in which he gives the advice, " don't ever let any one borrow your fishing equipment, it'll come back lookin like crap" he also says in another that you shouldn't eat quantum hot sauce, it doesn't taste good
  10. I would hit high end of your range if possible. I say either Powell Max or Dobyns Savvy. The kistler Mags are good to but I prefer the other two series of rods. I actually have two of each series and would reccomend the Dobyns first, then Powell, and kistler.
  11. Palomar If there is anything tied to my line, it's tied with a palomar
  12. Apparently you caint beat um
  13. Got my baits in the mail yesterday, went out this morning to give them a try. Three casts in this little girl hit like a ton of bricks. 3.1lbs by my Berkley scale. Rigged it on a long shank jig head. this one is so you can see the bait.
  14. Went out Saturday with a couple of buddies to Cedar Creek in Lincoln County, Ky. It's billed as Ky's only "Trophy" bass lake and it sure fishes like one. Alot of fishing pressure with a tournament til 12ish. We had a decent #'s day between the three of us but the size wasn't really there. Had one quality bite that didn't make it to the boat around lunch, but everthing else was under 16". We had patterned them to 8-10' flats with plastics but most everyone else had too, the flats of the lake were a zoo during the tournament. After the tournament weighed in we hit a railroad track with a standing tree line just off a flat. Just a few minutes in and this one hit. She was dead tired, not much fight once I got her out of the bushes but she made a good run or two under the boat. She was the only big one of the day. 21 3/4'' and 5.1lbs (with a scale) spawned out.
  15. I really like to cast a dropshot where I normally fish under a bridge. One thing I sometimes do, if I have the right baits with me, is to make a long cast with a Gene Larew Long John that is nose hooked dead straight and use a slow retrieve with some pauses and small jerks. It keeps the bait up just a bit from the bottom. Sometimes it's hard to keep good contact but I find it very effective the few times I have done it.
  16. Not quite sure where BigRick came from, it's been my nickname since sometime in college. Rick isn't even part of my name, Adam Paul. As for the RickRolled part, well, "Never Gonna Give You Up" is an awesome song and I used to love getting RickRolled.
  17. they work very well, I think they are worth the money if you have it
  18. As far as I can tell it's the Japanese version of the old red 50th anniversary Hyperspeed. I'd prefer this to dropping $400 on a zillion
  19. Powell 704c....You are welcome
  20. I have found that it depends on the rod whether or not it will handle deep cranks. A 7'M BPS Crankin Stick will handle a Fat Free Shad BD5 (10-12') and Strike King Series 5 (10-13') with no problem but my G-Loomis CBR 843, well not so much, better for anything above 8'. I use a 7'MH Lucky Craft rod
  21. Floating or suspending? I use 12lb XPS Fluorocarbon for suspending jerkbaits, don't fish floating baits much. Like Lucky Craft Man said, it gives the baits a bit more running depth and helps them get there quicker.
