  1. CX premium is more manageable than CXX but not quiet as strong. Great line, worth trying out and really worth it on sale.
  2. Conducted a small test between the Powell and Dobyns 704 rods Saturday night. The Dobyns rods seem to balance a bit better than the Powell rods. I have a 705 Powell and it is a nice rod, never fished the Savvy 705 but from the comparison of the 704s, of say get the dobyns
  3. I got an extended cab Tacoma last November, man do I love that truck. Gas mileage is decent and you can fit up to 7'6'' rods in the cab, the bed in mine is 7'4'' diagonally. That was the test for the decision to buy ;D , we test drove it to the house and loaded the bed and cab with rods to see what fit and what didn't...I do have a 7'9'' swimbait rod but I just let it stick out the back window. If it's gas mileage you want my wife just bought a Prius for 24K, lay the front seat down and you can fit just about any bass rod in there : ....I gotta admit that I do like it....it's neat.
  4. Oh ok....I gotcha I had mine cut that's the difference....
  5. Once the Spiderwire gives you "friction" whatever that means, switch it Suffix and you'll be fine. Please try to describe what you're talking about, is the line digging in and causing resistance or is it a lack of friction and is slipping?
  6. b I would contact your doctor about that....I had perfect vision 6 hours after my surgery, a little light sensitivity for a few days but vision was not impaired.
  7. I would highly advise it. I actually just had it done April 19th and am really pleased. Mine was $4200, I don't have vision ins. but it was considered "cosmetic" surgery becase I was 20/150 and could be corrected easily. I would have tried to find cheaper but my wife had it done by the same doctor last year so we had a standing relationship. Plus he was highly recommended and uses a special laser that is for a stigmatism, I think htye said three or four in the country. One thing you may want to check into is a GE company called Care Credit, you can get 36 months no interest financing on medical procedures.
  8. I have a friend that found out just a few years ago that she had celiac disease. She only weighed about 95lbs but was losing weight and all she ate was junk. She was a student here at the hopital and for lunch she'd have peanut butter and crackers, chocalate chip cookies or oreos, and a bag of doritos. She contacted some institute in chicago that gives out gift baskets and booklets to those with celiac disease to help you with shopping for food. I thought that was pretty neat that they send out free food and info to help out.
  9. I'd be interested in knowing where you heard that little factoid....seriously, would you fish his signature rods if had the choice of also fishing a Steez? As for the original posts. That Iaconelli rod seems like it would be a good $100 choice, I've never fished it but them seem to be good rods. As for my crank baits I use Shallow-mid cranks/jerkbaits/topwater 6'10''MH-F Carrot Stix Gold (labeled MH-F but is better suited for the purposes I use it for, just ask anyone that's fished it, closer to a M-F) Deep Divers (12-20ft) 7'MH-F Lucky Craft Cranking rod (Again, labeled MH-F but it's a fiberglass rod so it has a softer tip) Lipless Cranks Whatever MH-F that isn't in use does fine for me, don't throw them much. You don't really need a longer rod, it helps, but it's not necessary. I would try to focus on what you'd do the most of and go from there as to what to get.
  10. The Dick's in Lexington has a good assortment of them. I looked at them briefly a few weks ago and was impressed. I compared them to similar Mojos and I think they pretty well took the cake.
  11. A whammy bar...that's awesome
  12. It seems like all the old quantums are noisy. I had an e750pt that was noisy on the cast. It was something that I got used to. If you ever watch an older video of KVD fishing either a blue tour or older energy, you almost always hear it. As far as I know it's just that way.
  13. Don't know what you're talking about....this one weighed 18.7lbs, she was chalked full of eggs....caught her off a bed with a 19" musky jerkbait with 20/0 hooks....the picture shows her small cause shes at the end of a 15'3'' SuperDutyHeavy rod with 57lb test :
  14. you can bet that if someone backed into me with a boat and cut my leg off, the driver would be part of the lawsuit. It just seems like more and more people are getting money for having less and less sense.
  15. First time I saw that message I was wondering what in the H I did to get banned!!! That's what I thought too....I tried to get on it last night but was blocked
  16. Nail on the head....you hit it. I'll add the 7'H is a little more versatile and is good for larger spinnerbaits as well. Thanks both of you. This will definitely be a technique-specific setup. As for the reel....Curado? ;D I have two powells, and both have curados
  17. I have my CI4 on a 7'M Damik Dark Angel and couldn't be happier. Really light, sensitive, and balance...plus it doesnt hurt that the colors match perfectly.
  18. Nail on the head....you hit it. I'll add the 7'H is a little more versatile and is good for larger spinnerbaits as well.
  19. same here, I'd only be concerned with catching a limit in a tournament, other than that, it goes back.
  20. Just make sure the hook is big enough to penetrate the ika and get a good hook in, they are some pretty meaty baits.
  21. are you using sensitivity as a stiffness rating? I know a few older guys that say the most sensitive rods are the ones with more limber tips that are whippy.
  22. I bought some a few weeks ago for around $10 each, I think it was 3 for $30. I have never used much fluorocarbon and that which I had (vicious, vanish) I hated but I really like the XPS line. I put 12lb on one of my shakey head/tube/jerkbait rods and it is absolutely amazing. It out casts the 10lb P-line fluoroclear I had previously and is really strong. well worth the money.
