  1. I wouldn't worry about what it says on the site. The widespool is wider than the narrow but the profile is the same. I have smaller hands so the narrow spool suits me but if you have larger hands it should be very comfortable. Either way, the widespool has very little effect on anything. Get it, don't think you'll regret it.
  2. Are you talking about the soft shads? I bought 2 of them for 75 cents a few years ago, one bluegill one bass, had one day that the bluegill caught fish, never worked again. They don't float, mire of a slow sink but not bad action. Good for what I payed, not any more.
  3. I don't like the colors of any of Pfluegers XT reels and if I don't like the colors, I don't even consider them. It's not so much bright colors for me as it is a balance of the colors. I have a Carrot Stix Gold and Sol combo, both bright colors but match and balance well. If I have a green, red, or bold color reel, the rod has to mach, i.e. Curado/Powell, Fuego/Damiki Dark Angel.
  4. The Veritas isn't a signature series rod so I assume it's the Daiwa rods that are on sale. When someone asks about Iaconelli's Daiwa rods you don't automatically think steez/L&T because he uses them, you think about the rod that has his name on it. Honestly, I don't understand the hype about him using them for the classic, we'll never see the actual rods he is using, they're prototypes.
  5. Reaction Strike Akita baits from eBay River2sea are ok, I've used their v-joint with some success.
  6. I have one and love it, I use 8-10lb P-line Floro-clear or Yo-Zuri Hybrid, which ever I have available at the time.
  7. Senkos are soft stick baits, senko is use as a generic term these days as a stick bait Swimbaits are lures that closely imitate fish Jerkbaits are slender, billed baits fished with a jerk-pause-jerk retrieve, some float, some suspend, neither are considered topwater because they do dive to some degree. Roostertails are inline spinnerbaits, spoons are basically pieces of metal with a treble hook attached to imitate injured baitfish.
  8. The only thing you don't mix is elaztech and everything else because they melt. Colors can bleed but sometimes that makes a great color.
  9. Great baits
  10. Same here, weather just keeps getting worse. I'll have my 7'H Wed. I'd like to here a comparison with the Extreme, even though I've never fished one, I'd like to here the difference between the extremes of the lineups.
  11. you hook the bait through the nose as usual as usual but before going back into the bait you slip the weight onto the hook
  12. I really like the Owner Cultiva Rip 'n Minnows, they are a bit pricey at $10 but thats 5-10 less than Pointers.
  13. here are the two that come to mind for tubes without using a leadhead http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_44436____SearchResults http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_93399____SearchResults these too http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_30021_100010000_100000000_100010000_100-10-0

  15. I used to use a 7'6''H flipping stick for both applications. I don't use it anymore because I don't care for braid, the mod-fast action was best for braid, and I have some heavier swimbaits, so I now have a X-F flipping stick and a beefier swimbait rod. However, I had no problems using it for both applications, especially for smaller swimbaits under 2oz.
  16. Just got my 7'MH Savvy from Bass Tackle Depot in literally 20 mins ago. I really like the rod, it's extremely light and balanced with both my Zillion and Curado E7. I'm really wanting to go fish it but 2-3 inches of snow and about 4 inches of ice are preventing me from doing so. I am very pleased so far and am really glad I went ahead and bought a 7'H with the 20% discount.
  17. Same here in KY, makes it terribly tough fishing the colder months, the Floridas shut down quick and easily.
  18. Cabelas has the catylst on sale for $100 right now. I have a code and like it, not a big fan of the accurists profile. I would say look for a PT as well, depending on your budget. As for the " don't get a Quantum thing", had a revo S, actually had two, fished them a total of maybe a week and don't have either any more but still have my code and fish it some.

  20. The discounts are the best part of BPS rods, it's like they are priced to go on sale. IMO, on sale @ $100, the Pro Qualifier is the best rod you could buy.
  21. I use a 7'M-XF Damiki Dark Angel and a 2500 Shimano Stradic CI4 with 8lb P-Line Floro-Clear for those exact purposes and have no problems with it. As Paul said, M for lighter lines, MH for larger lines.
  22. I know alot of people that swear by the Bionic Blade, it's not bad but I prefer the Extreme and up, never used the Crbonlite but heard a few good things. I also think that the Crankin Stick is a great crankbait rod for it's sub $100 price.
  23. I'm pulling for Aaron Martens, he's over due. You don't finish 2nd in the classic more than once just out of luck. I think if he can pull himself together and not focus on everything else around him, he'll pull it out.
  24. I use a Field and Stream worm wallet from Dick's, works fine for me.
