  1. I'm glad to see another participant, for the longest time it was just daiwa. Maybe they will eventually get all the major brands. It seems like a good idea if you are feeling iffy about buying a new reel and want to get your hands on it first.
  2. Also, if I am remembering correctly, a dry flourocarbon line has more stretch than mono or copoly. When the water variable is added, however, flourocarbon tends to stretch less due to less water absorbed when compared to mono or copoly which absorb more water.
  3. It takes the floating characteristic of mono, although I have noticed some have a very slow sink.
  4. walmart sells them
  5. If you know how, strip it down, clean it out, and lube it up
  6. ergonomics, fishability, and probably weight.
  7. I wish there was a little more choice with these rods on power/action/length...they look nice
  8. That's why my wife has a cranking stick and I'm getting a Lucky Craft rod ;D
  9. I would say that considering the average 4'' swimbait is $20, $9 is a deal if they look good and swim good. Makes me wish Academy was closer than the one in Nashville, 5 hrs away
  10. hey let me know what you think of that rod... i wanted to get one a while back and even made a post to see how they are and no one had any experience.... they look great and at a decent price. should have it by next week and will take it out next weekend. I had been eyeing them too, then I read the tackle tour review and that was it, I had to have one. I got it as an early birthday gift from my wife, it was either the Lc or the Quantum KVD cranking rod.
  11. Copper Perch, Purple Perch, Bull Bream, and Pearl Shad are my favorites. They all are nice looking baits though, wouldn't care to have any of them.
  12. well designed by spro LOL, it looks basically the same as the bronzeye. :-? to be honest, there's not that much to change about a frog bait....but the paintjobs are rather similar
  13. I like the way the carbon steel rods feel but just can't seem to get over the cork/foam handle, same with the Airrus Co-Matrix
  14. I agree with RW about not needing glass for shallow-mid divers. I actually use a 6'10''MH Carrot Stix Gold for this application and it does great. There seems to be some good graphite cranking rods out but for those deep divers glass is hard to beat. I have been fishing a Crankin Stick for deep divers, it has a unidirectional graphite/glass mix and does descent but I am awaiting a new 7'MH Lucky Craft cranking rod which is glass.
  15. The shell cracker might be a bit heavy for that mentioned setup, not sure of the specs though. I have an Akita swimbait that I think is close and if so it is a bit too heavy for that rod, but like I said, I'm not sure. As for the TT and the giron, 20lb is fine but you could get away with 15lb cxx...they are decently light and small baits so 20lb might hinder casting. For my heavier baits, 7'' TT, 2oz Akitas, and a harb bodied ABT, I throw 20lb CXX but for the smaller ones, 4''TT, Sexy Swimmers, Magic Swimmers, King Shads, I throw 15lb CXX.
  16. now a jucy lucy will catch me every time
  17. My wife bought me an insulated cup at the bass pro in Sevierville TN. It's a good cup, for hot or cold. Lucky Craft RC baits are $10 right now
  18. I have never used a Sahara, almost bought one but I got the President combo instead. I'm sure the Sahara is a fine reel, I would have suggested the President, it is one of the, if not the best spinning reel in it's price range. It's a tad heavy but it's solid and smooth.
  19. what type of bait is it?
  20. I've never fished with either but have heard good about both so I wiould think it is a good deal. Actually thinking about getting an XML spinning rod as a bank rod
  21. I would be iffey about throwing 1oz+ weight with 10lb flouro. I actually don't use flouro so I would suggest P-Line, now 10lb CXX would be fine.
  22. The shocks are newer and said to be braid ready so their actions may be a bit slower than normal. I had one backordered from cabelas for 1 1/2 months and finally called them abnd canceled the order. I may still get one eventually if noone buys my Pflueger Asaro in the Flea Market. I have yet so actually hold one in store, everywhere I have been that sells them has been sold out. Now the Berkley Amp rods seem really nice for their price. Actually looking to gety a cheap spinning rod for bank fishing and it might do it for me
