  1. The problem with this poll is that Academy doesn't sell H20 baits on the internet and the stores are only in the south. I like the XPS baits but the closest Academy is 5 hours away in Nashville TN so I've never fished H20 baits.
  2. Personally, I think the Core is one of the best looking reels on the market. It's just sleek and the black and red makes it even better, and now the new chronarch in the silver, wonderful body design.
  3. I would opt for a 6'6'' or 7' MH which would be a good all around rod for spinners, jigs, t-rigs.... The shimanos have a good warranty, some others in the price range are the St. Croix Mojo, Falcon Bucoo and Original, Daiwa makes some rods in that range, and many house brands(Bass Pro, Cabelas). The $150 price tags have alot of options from most companies....I wouldn't, however, buy a G-Loomis thats not an IMX or GLX. In the $100-150 range you get Carrot Stix, Powell, Kistler Magnesium, Falcon LowRider, Castaway XP3, and many more. A bigger selection in that range
  4. I have two spinning 6'6''M Lightening Rods and they are worth the money. They are actually descently sensitive, not as good as the $150 rods that have been mentioned but for $30 they are a good deal.
  5. The first thing I thought when I saw them was "I wonder if these baits were painted by a four year old "
  6. I really like the bps tube hooks. I primarily use the weedless hooks and they do the job wonderfully.
  7. I learned on a spinning reel, caught my pb on a spinning reel (Mitchel Advocet and a lightening rod to be exact), and really have a place for spinning gear in my heart. Don't get me wrong, my baitcaster out number my spinning reels, but my spinning reel is truly my workhorse. I primarily like to fish finesse type baits like wacky rigged senkos and shakey heads and I just don't feel as comfortable with a baitcaster for these techniques.
  8. BigTom and I had the problem with price matching at bps. The Crankin Stick were onsale online, went and got one and the girl behind the counter said she couldn't obtain a price from the online site, spent a good 15-20 min trying to get the correct price, managers were called and eventually got a print out of the site price, from the same computer she said she was unable to look up the price. Thought we got it fixed, go to checkout and while the ***** at the check out talked to us about the sale, he rang us up for the whole price. Good thing I thought to look over the reciept.
  9. Just got it in today, only took 1 1/2 weeks not bad I guess from japan. Took it out today on my bps pro qualifier and this thing is butter smooth. Plan on fishing tubes so that's all I threw and it's going to be a great tube reel. Cast 1/8 oz perfectly and 3/16 even better, main weight I use for tubes.b I actually feel like it's tighter than my sol, anyone know the real difference in the two? Now the wait for the 7'm mojo, as soon as TW gets them i'll be set.
  10. I wonder how long they will be on sale, I've got a gift card and could use some more of the 1.5, there are few colors I don't have. Would also like to give the DD baits a try.
  11. I would say that make sure the drag knob isn't cross threaded.
  12. Man....I was just in Cincy for a Reds game on Sat. Kinda glad though....I don't need another rod....well, I do but I'm gonna get specific colors for the next few to match some reels and the Carrot Stix don't match them.
  13. Exaclty, that's what drag is for. Shouldn't have any trouble with Hybrid or CXX at those sizes. I personally use Yo-Zuri Hybrid on my spinning setup, cxx, cx, or some type of P-line on my baitcasters, I chose the yo-zuri on the spinning setup because it's a bit more manageable than cxx, keep in mind I use 12lb hybrid.
  14. I don't c-rig and some of my rods pull double duty or more than one rod for a technique so here's what I got 1) Flipping: 7'6''H-Fast Castsway Big Show Flipping Stick; Curado 200 E7; 50lb Suffix Performance Braid with 15lb Vicious Flouro. Powell 705C 7'Mag-H; Quantum Energy PT VI 100H "Burner"; 17lb P-line CXX. 2) Carolina rig: Either of the flipping sticks if I ever do it 3) Spinnerbait: 7'MH-F St. Croix Avid; Pflueger Supreme 6.4:1; 12lb CXX 4) Frogging: not much call for it but either the Powell or Castaway 5) Drop shotting: 7'M-EF Damiki Dark Angel Spinning rod; Quantum Energy Pti-a 30; 12lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid 6) Shaky head: Damiki Dark Angel ^^^ 7) Swimbait: Hopefully soon it will be a 7'9'' MH Dobyns Mike Long SB Rod; Revo Toro 50HS; 20lb CXX. 8) Crankbait: Shallow-Mid: 6'10''MH Carrot Stix Gold; Daiwa Sol; 12lb P-line Flouro-clear. Deep: 7'MH Lucky Craft; Curado 200E5; 12lb CXX 9) Weightless plastics: Damiki Spinning Rod 10) Jig fishing: 7'H Kistler Magnesium TS; Pflueger Patriarch 71LP; 15lb CXX. (Also for 10'' worms, Hollow Belly Swimbaits, and small hard swimbaits) 11) Texas rig: 6'9''MH Carrot Stix LTX; Pflueger Patriarch 64LP; 12lb Flouro-clear. 7'MH Kistler Magnesium TS; Revo S; 12lb P-Line Evolution Also just setup a Daiwa Alphas 103; 12lb P-Line Flouro-Clear; 6'6''M Pro Qualifier for tubes
  15. I personally like the moss green and charcoal colors of the pq gear but have seen the 100mph put through some tough weather and the only wet part is your landing arm
  16. It's actually very simple once you learn how to do it.
  17. Hmmmm.... Been looking into daiwas recently, got a few used ones on eBay for cheap, sol, fuego, and an alphas 103. Might be a good chance to get a new one. I'm still not sold on the twitchin bar though, may just save my money.
  18. That's what was thinking. Depending on your setup, a slight weight change can make a world of difference with a baitcaster. I suggest you start your actual fishing day with your brakes to 100%, assuming you are using mag brakes, back it off little by little until you find your comfort zone.
  19. x2 fish with them how you plan too and then make adjustments according to how you feel a different rod might benefit you.
  20. Works good for shaking, better, for me anyway, with tubes.
  21. not gonna find an E5 for $100. I bought both my Curado's off of ebay, and E5 and an E7, and both were $150 Uncle Leo That's a deal that's hard to pass up
  22. Goofy? All "creature" baits are goofy looking, but some work better than others. The original goofy creature might be the Gizit, but now it's just a tube! 8-) That was my first thought then I got to thinking....I've never seen a brush hog, miki, or flapping hog swimming around and they work wonders. I really think the single tail concept is overlooke for creatures, or at least the one I fish. There needs to be a 4''-5'' ragetail grub...don't fish much but the tail design seems suitable for a grub
  23. as it should... it costs about as much as the both of them, combined. My thoughts exactly
  24. With Kistler, you've got a fuji guide...not sure about the helium but I would say either hardloy or alconite
  25. It's either Brown Sunfish or Warmouth can't remember which
