Antique Tin Club
I've noticed that quite a few of us have some very old tin boats that we have restored. Mine is a 1964, yours? I just think it's pretty cool. When I look at these boats, I picture our grandfathers bringing them home new. I picture fiberglass rods and Mitchel 308's. I picture Mayberry, lol. I picture fishermen of days past watching down and smiling as their baby puts yet another generation on fish. So who else has an antique tin boat that they love like I love mine?

Has anybody modified an old Vbottom boat: such as flooring
these are V hulls guys, a mod v is actually a jon boat with a small v section up front. Taking out a bench seat is no big deal as long as you plan to re-support it like gatortoms.

Bassresource Northeast tournament...has it been done before??
That's appreciated, most don't like to tell it like it is but I'm sure Muddy will tell you he's had a couple days there that weren't the easiest. Every lake has it's good days and it's bad, keep yourself in good company while you're there and a good time will be had by all.

Some "not so successful" products (humor)
I'm flattered but I have not been given "Super Hero" status yet,...this is required to be an underoo representative. My dad saus it's good to have goals though,...................someday. :

Bass Hound 10.2
Depends if the tank is incorporated in the engine motor housing or in a separate can. If it's a separate can, you have to store that somewhere and if you are a smoker, that's another BIG hazard. If there is a fuel reservoir built into the housing, it takes up no additional room unless you have to tilt it up.

Bass Hound 10.2
Put that boat in the middle of a 500-600 acre, wide open lake in a 20 mph wind and you are asking for trouble. It's not the smartest thing to do in a 12 foot jon boat let alone a 10 ft plastic pontoon with zero engineering given to taking a wave. In regards to power, a 55 will push you through a 20 mph wind, no problem, with a fresh batt, but the hull you are sitting on isn't designed to be in that arena. If you limit your trip to protected coves and such, that's another story, I'm talking about open water. My replies are based on doing something and doing it safely. Can you get across the lake in a 25-30 mph wind in a 10 ft w/ 55? Sure,...but you're not the brightest bulb if you've put yourself in that position to begin with.

Message board newbie!!
What if KVD signed up 3 yrs ago and has been lurking here ever since. Under a name like "fishguy1". He has 3 posts. He just gave an in depth reply to your crankbait question. Is post count relevant?

I have ZERO self control.
Problem is,...you can't go past the zoo and pet the baitmonkey on the way to the store if you don't want to spend more money than you planned on!! I was throwing that reel yesterday, Matt5.0 just got a new one for his carrot stock. I'll say it again,...what a great rod (it was like the crankbait was talking to me,lol). This reel was a nice match for it.

Buying Jon with no title? Difficult?
Buying a Used Boat-Canada: When you buy a used "licensed" boat, you must transfer the license by taking it with a "bill of sale" signed by the previous owner and the completed transfer form (reverse side of Pleasure Craft License form) to the nearest licensing office (refer to the blue pages in your telephone directory for the office nearest to you). If a used boat has no license, license number or registration papers, read Transport Canada "Marine Safety" for information. If you go read the marine safety section, you'll see what you have to do if you bought a boat w/o license or registration but if it was once a search and rescue boat, I guarantee it already has paperwork for it. If this boat was sold off by a police/fire dept, the license would have gone with it. You need to find out why it didn't. Something is fishy there. but regardless, ....YOU NEED TO HAVE A LICENSE OR REGISTRATION FOR YOUR VESSEL

10 ' jon boat with 2.5 johnson
Hull numbers will be for registration, serial number will be stamped on a metal tag and riveted to transom. Pm it to me, do not post it. (for your own protection)

Buying Jon with no title? Difficult?
What state is that??

Bass Hound 10.2
Yes you can use that configuration, you just unscrew the trolling motor head from the shaft and spin it 180 degrees and put screws back to use it on the bow. That set up is fine for elec only lakes, just avoid the main lake in winds over 15 mph

ever hear of this jon boat?
Do you have a title for it? Those boats are generally de-badged before being sold off. Don't want to see you go try and register a stolen police boat, lol. How did you acquire it? (Being a rescue boat also explains the confusion with the sizes, that's a sweet hull, designed to be extra stable for it's length. )

Buying Jon with no title? Difficult?
It doesn't work like that. You are in possession of the boat. If you are in waters that require a registration, you'll need to resolve the title issue and get one.

Finally, My own build thread!
Oh, and I would name her but not for another 10-15 yrs when you want to give her the first paint job. By then, her name will have come naturally and then you can adorn it with a decal. For now, the factory badging looks nice. Anything else would clutter it. (And more pics please, construction and finished, I'll use this as an example in the future)
