wanna add bass seats to john boat
In a 10' jon, you bolt or screw directly to the bench with the swivel. Do not add a pedestal. Even tight on the bench it is very tippy with 2 people. Either cut out a hole in the side of the seat and dig out enough foam to get your hand behind the bolts so you can get the nut on or use a wide bite screws and add some 3m 5200 to the threads. However, Slide mounts and grip mounts are recommended highly for 10's (makes seats removable and are easier to mount.)

Need Opinions on Ethical Fishing Question.
That book isn't huge but it's packed with great info. This is the book that convinced me that keeping a Bass in a tank is un-ethical (to me) It was given to me by a marine Biologist from U.R.I. It's a little "sciency" but a great read if you can slow down and look up a few words, lol.

Retail sales statistics
Yes, but then Redlinerobert came into the game and retail-wise, made up for the folks that quit, lol Looking for "retail sales" stats more than participation stats (although you would think they can go hand in hand)

Any Doctors here?
Well, seeing as how you had it before you went to Brazil, I think it may have just never cured up. You've been going non stop since you got back. Rest can't hurt but I would still be fishing personally. I'm not a Dr but I did stay at a Holiday Inn,...I even got to play Dr. while I was there but surely, this doesn't count. Suck it up, you got Jungle lung funk with a side case of something. All those kisses from the Bait Monkey can't be helping either. (Fluke-Non smoker)

Its on!
Absolutely, I'm right there with you, I was solidifying your previous points with my own experiences. The fish we hit back there wont be dropping egg for another 6-10 weeks yet and they won't be doing it back there. They are back there feeding on the first critters that are waking up from a long winter. Temps in there can be 2-6 degrees different than the main lake for a few peak hours per day. Dark, silty bottom with sparse weed patches, protected from wind, it warms quickly. I think the sluggish food source (waking crays) trigger major feeding. Mother nature doing her stuff.

Retail sales statistics
Guys, I remember a few years back, I was reading something about retail sales totals being ranked by sport/hobby. It was either a list or an article, I don't remember but Golf was #1 and Fishing was #2 but had the higher growth rate. Can anyone find me any info pertaining to this? I'd like to see it in print. It may have changed by now as well, could be in a huge slump for all I know. Basically looking for what sport/hobby has the greatest retail sales and then #2,3,4 etc Thanks in advance

Its on!
This is something we learned by trial and error. We have a cove that is about 1-3 ft and takes up a good 15% of the acreage of the entire lake. This is the first place we go at ice out. Being the first water to warm (we assume), it is the first water to get any craws lethargically coming out of hibernation (we assume). Fish come in and leave in waves of simialr size. You will hit 2-10 fish that look identical in the next 1/2 hour and then nothing. Gone. But hang tight, another recon group will be along eventually. If the first fish this time is 4 lbs, chances are the next few will be too,...and then nothing again. This goes on for the warm window of the day (this is why we assume it is heat triggered) dawn and dusk,...nothing back there (or nothing feeding anyway) For a few years, swimming a light jig seemed to be the winning lottery ticket. Last yr, after hitting on a Fluke, jig, senko and spinnerbait,....I realized it ain't so. I think these fish are willing to eat anything vulnerable at this time. They are in there to feed and warm up and if they see the food, they are in the mode to eat it. Reading what Catt wrote in quotes brought me right back to that cove,8 months ago. Can't wait to be there again this April, it's a GREAT way to come back from a bad bout with cabin fever!! Next step is to venture further up the line and find where they are hanging out in between trips to the back cove. That one is still eluding us.

Evel Knievel dies....
Well, not "illegal" but not allowed. They used to worry about npeople getting nhurt/liability. People would "catch air" wherever there was a bump or launch pad big enough. Soon, ski patrol would come by and "X" it off with big bamboo sticks. So it got to wherer we would go up the mtn w/ those mini folding army shovels and build our own ramps (small) and hit them on the next run, till they would close it off. That's the way it was. Then snowboarding came into the game. Many mtns tried to seperate them from the traditional skiers by building "parks" in certain areas for them to ride (1/2 pipes, etc.) Well, the skiers started making their way into the parks and would get in troule for that too. Eventuallly, they developed "freestyle areas" where everyone could go catch air. Nowadays they have added different types of jumps, aerial, table tops, etc along with rails, boxes and all kinds of things to play with. The stuff these kids can pull today is awesome, what I'm saying is that we didn't have all this "tailored terrain" to learn on like the kids today. I only WISH we had that stuff wjhen I was young. Back in my day, to "go big", you were often looking off the lip of a 50 ft headwall.

Evel Knievel dies....
I know exactly what he thought, I have the smae thoughts about today's extreme skiers. When I skied, jumping was "illegal",...you would get your ticket pulled. Nowadays, they build ramps and parks for the freestylers to ride in. Sports progress like anything else and the old timers are in awe of what the kids are pulling today. There are some amazing athletes in the extreme sports and a lot of it started with EK. It blows my mind that "Curling is still an Olympic event but skateboarding isn't. Skateboarders (no I don't really skate) do some amazingly acrobatic/athletic things. I think he would be proud of how far they have come

Evel Knievel dies....
He's liived in a lot of pain. I just watched "Biography" a few weeks back, it was on him. One thing I didn't know was how prevelant he was as one of the first "Anti-Drugs-stay in school" advocates. I too had the SSP? SST? toy. Stick in the zip tye type thingy and pull. I had a bunch of those as a kid but the EK one was the "cool" one to have, lol RIP
