Tidal water just kills me !!!
Funny. Many see my opinions on things as very different. I really don't care much about bait/lure color, line diameter, technique specific equipment, etc. Give me gear, I'll catch. I think this comes from the fact that I was mainly a saltwater fishery angler for the first 15-20 yrs of fishing. FINDING these great schools and learning not just their feeding areas but migration routes was always the tough part. FIND them and you can get them to bite on a number of different baits, styles, presentations, etc. A bass is a bass, once you find him.

Fact from Fiction about Spray scents on Post below
Very educational Bobby. I wonder if you'd be willing to put that in article form for our archives? Awesome stuff.

Disheartening
I also know that a lot of our members take pride in our youth. We have some great kids here. We need to remember that we are their role models at times. Showing them how adults can put differences aside and accept each other isn't something the kids get to see too often anymore. I'd like to think that the member base here at BR are JUST the people to give these kids a glimpse of this. Now, I'm no angel, I know I can sometimes slip and not be the best example. I have bad habits and a foul mouth at times and numerous other short comings. All we can do is try and be aware, and try to be better to ourselves and each other. NOW LET'S GO CATCH SOME FISH FOLKS!!

Disheartening
This is a general, generic, no names post to reflect a sentiment. That's all. No examples needed. If you feel this thread applies to you, take it for what it is worth (to you). If things are smooth in your posting world, then the status quo is ideal. Not a thread to generate hugs or apologies,...just change or "awareness" if you will.

Fall Patterns for New England....?
I haven't thrown a s/b in years, I need to get back on 'em next yr a bit. Within days of the harvest moon, our water finally turned. Topwater bite seized up like an Edsel with no oil. ;D :'( Catching a fish in the upper 1/2 of the water column will take some killer magic or a huge horseshoe now. Craws, craws, craws,....that's the menu in our lake for the rest of the season. Even the plastics will dwindle in these next few weeks for me anyway. Jigs will be the staple by the end of the month.

Disheartening
Don't even know if it's a word but that's how I feel with all the senior members getting sick of each other. Seems that with time, some have realized that aside from fishing, we are all very different. One particular member (no names) and I are great examples of how it SHOULD be done. We have different fishing beliefs, religious beliefs and a few others but we deal with each other using the utmost respect. I actually feel like I have grown as a person dealing with our differences. I often find myself looking to this person for advice on numerous things now. I know his eyes see things differently than mine and I appreciate having a friend with a different perspective that I can utilize. Some of you guys are going out of your way to make your point and dong it with malice. It's just plain,....disheartening. I wonder if there is anything I can do as a mod. I've wanted to post on it but know that I can tend to word things wrong in these situations, but I've seen just about enough of my friends at each others throats to keep quiet anymore. Lead by example guys, rise above, forgive and accept. I don't have a ton of respect for people who don't at least TRY to rise above a situation. With that said, I think every one of you are capable. Show me I'm right. Thanks for listening, RESPECTFULLY, LBH

Is my wife full of it?
All I can say is UGH. I never expected this to be a place where enemies were formed and certainly not by folks whom I respect. FROM BOTH SIDES How about a group hug? Forgive and accept? Out of the question? Let's just go fishin'.........I hate seeing friends go at it. Especially fishing friends going at it over something like "marriage" It's a different thing to every married couple out there, take it for what it is to you and move on.

Tournament giveaway reel
As a bass fisherman, I would be very happy with the 20 or even the 30. PS- That's a $200 gift horse!! Forget looking it in the mouth, I'll inspect his tonsils for $225!! lol If they are smaller than the 20, perhaps you could contact Okuma and explain your dilemma. I've heard nothing but good things regarding their customer service, worth a call.

VDGIF Boat Crash Caught On Tape
If you read it, it was a set up event to crash 2 boats on purpose. It went awry and the remote controlled boat faltered causing the sequence of events, that's why the guy says "wrong friggin' boat",lmao

HOW TO MOUNT SWIVEL SEATS IN A JON BOAT
Might be a good time to get that visit in If I come down, we could bang it out together in an hour. Is the old boat going to someone in the "Muddy's recovery assistance program"?

The Poor Boy's Silly Rabbit swim bait
lol,...it's not the original and it worked??? Without being hollow??? NO WAY!!! It's my opinion that the fish are hitting the paddle tail action, not the paint job, sexy eye or the fact that it is hollow. Any of these baits have the potential to nab the same fish as a basstrix. JMO Hype,....it's overrated, lol

Which type of boat
I just like having the option to STAND. On a jon , you can stand and cast, don't have to be sitting down the whole time. Heck, I can even take a walk up to the bow when I'm alone, lol Fishing this boat alone is about as close to fishing off a real deck as you can get w/o dropping thousands of $'s.

HOW TO MOUNT SWIVEL SEATS IN A JON BOAT
The only issue with the peds you want to use is that there are only 4 mounting holes. Check out mine below. 6 holes. I also cut a small hole in the side of the bench seat (matches hole in bow bench) so I could get my hand up and get nuts on the bolts for the pedestal. Very little foam needs to be removed. I finished the hole with the same "edge" guard used on bow seat hole (found it at napa) Now I also have 2 more small storage areas in the bench;s. I use the hole in middle bench to store my drift anchor and the rear hole holds a small set of basic tools and epoxy weld. These pedestals are short so you can put feet on floor or bench. (that's the nice part about the shorty style pedestal, keeps center of gravity low also) The seats also remove from these pedstals for upside down winter storage or if you go out alone (I remove front seat if alone) Also, doing it this way keeps you from adding more weight (wood on benches, not necessary)

Need Some Help - Lake & Lake Dam Restoration
OK, you do realize they will cost at least a few grand if not a lot more, yes? I would start by finding out the exact reason it wasn't repaired by the state/city. Go to city hall, there may be an engineers report on file already.

LineX on Boat Bow
If you have a nice boat, don't rely on just the rub rail!! Ranger makes some nice, low profile, stowable bumpers. Might be something to look into carrying when the water gets below a certain level.

Basstrix Paddle Tail Tube swimbaits
Yea, it is a great looking bait. I used them for schoolies on the Delta with Redlinerobert this summer. Great bait but for stripers,....no need. That's all I'm saying. Especially schoolies. matt- you'd be surprised, salt water big bass are still just a bass
