  1. I'm going to keep using a rod and reel
  2. No one said you were missed, they just asked where you were. He's in Fla. ;D ;D Heal up buddy, the bass have had enough time off, they're gonna get fat and lazy soon
  3. OK, went out back, dug hole. I made it 2.5' X 6' just cause I think you're worth it !! Where we fishin'?
  4. My turn. If it's not private land and it's a reservoir, my guess is that you are fishing in a public water supply. Nice going. You may want to check your local laws regarding trespassing on the surrounding land. Since 9/11, in my state anyway, it's a much bigger deal to fish the reservoir. Before, they took your gear, fined you and you couldn't get a license in the state for 5 yrs (Not that I expect you went and bought a license) Nowadays, there is possible jail time and homeland security can put your family through the wringer should they chose to. Test yourself, fish where everyone else does. That's one of the purposes of this board is to give guys like you the advice needed to catch fish in other places. You won't get kudos for pulling fish out of an "illegal barrel" here.
  5. Welcome Aboard!
  6. Poor Burley, always misunderstood ;D We spray the whole reel with it. I know it says to apply with a cloth, call us lazy, all I know is the stuff works, lol KVD also makes a "line conditioner"
  7. Yup, them too, lol. I'm just not comfortable that deep in the woods w/o anything. A hidden knife gives me a few more ounces of security. Again, hopefully it will only get used for cutting tape, straps, etc
  8. Sounds like a good time no matter how you slice it! I also got the chance a few weeks ago to fish a private ranch out in California with Redlinerobert. There's nothing like it.
  9. X2 You still did well. Winning isn't everything 2nd place isn't too shabby and there is always next year
  10. I am within a few weeks of opening my online clothing store. One of the shirts I will be offering, as a benefit to BR, is front: NO BASS?? back: KNOW BASS!!! www.BassResource.com

Couple things to consider. A. They CANNOT be released into public water now B. In most states it is illegal to keep a gamefish in captivity w/o a license. C. Those fish need to eat 3/4 of their body weight per day to be even close to healthy. This makes for a VERY cloudy tank, no way around it if you feed them properly. This is mostly due to the amount of waste expelled vs. the amount of water they have to live in. 36 gallons doesn't come close. (your tank is a 36 long)(Notice the size and filtration systems of BPS tanks, they are huge and have 3x the necessary filtration for the amount of gallons involved) I'm not criticizing you, many decide to start tanks with Bass in them , I just wish there was more readily available info out there to educate the folks first. The damage is done, those cannot be released into wild water and will outgrow that tank extremely quickly (if they haven't already). The fish will only grow large enough so it can still turn around in the tank it is in. A 16" bow front gives you roughly 13" of depth which will stunt the fish at about 8" long. These guys should have surpassed that earlier this summer being this years offspring. Best you can do now is to turn off any heat apparatus and keep the tank away from as much sun as possible. Keep the temp as low as possible to slow down the metabolism of the fish. No more feeder fish. These are the quickest way to create a high nitrogen level in the tank and will also help it cloud up quicker. Get them on a timed cycle of pellet food. It's a very nice looking tank, just wish it didn't have bass in it.
  12. Russ, you may want to check your state laws regarding the carry of knives with blades over 3" in length. I've weighed the options OPTIONS Also, just to expand on the written law, I believe if it is a locking knife like mine, the entire length is what is measured. The actual blade can be 3" if it does not lock. If it locks, it's considered a 7" (or whatever) blade and you're in trouble. I deliver very remote areas, I wouldn't work without it. I use it often for straps, and all kinds of packaging needs too. I just feel better if I ever do run into THAT dog. I've been bit 7 times but never in a circumstance where I needed to harm the animal to escape. I strongly hope that day never comes but I am, at least, prepared if it does. Now, where Robert is going, they have Pumas and lions and tigers and bears, oh my...lol but seriously, for deep woods/rain forest/jungle "protection" I'd rather have something with a trigger.
  13. Reelmech? Dave to the rescue??
  14. Jose will clear the trees, lol, you want something more compact I think. Something quick and 1 handed for cutting lines and stuff. I like the Presidio, especially in the tanto blade. HERE This one has it all, tanto tip, serrated section easy to deploy, compact for carry comfort-24/7 I carry mine in the small of my back, all day every day. The only time I don't have it is when I travel and I feel naked w/o it I didn't go with the tanto tip this time and really regretted it. As you can see, the tip o this one is already trashed. This one is 4 yrs old though.
  15. Delivering packages at Westerly Hospital. I broke off route and went to Benny's home and auto and taped 2 small American flags to my mirrors. Their goal was to change us, it worked. In my 40 yrs of 4th of July's combined, I had never seen as many American flags as I did in those first weeks following the cowardly act.
  16. Typically Swiss, lol He doesn't take his friend of the podium AND releases the fish. Talk about staying neutral!! ;D ;D Beautiful fish to both of you guys!! Where you are located makes these big mommas that much more special, enjoy the memory!
  17. AWESOME BIZZ!!! I was there last week and could only manage a few dinks,......I didn't want to ruin the bite for your tourny ;D ;D
  18. Yup, start taking mental pictures. The fish will be in the deeper parts the majority of the day. Find the creek channels and the holes that still have an exit out of them.
  19. Most of you know I rarely follow any televised sporting event but I can sympathize,.....it must get old watching our Patriots win... ;D
  20. I've owned 3 different Kershaw knives and loved them all. My favorite is the thumb flip style with the tanto rocker blade. They retail around $70
  21. That exact drifting capability is one of the reasons I LOVE my 12 ft jon. Real simple, drift socks or "wind anchors". They run about $25 and are priceless. Once you learn them a bit, you can position your boat to drift in an exact lane, it's awesome. wanna go slower? Bigger sock, that easy. I use the ones for a 16' boat most but also have the one for a 30' for days approaching 20mph but still fishy.
  22. Citric acid scrub bath, Buff and seal with "shark skin" sealer.
  23. *Parental Warning* This one is rough but I couldn't resist. FRONT: I'm not F'ing stupid BACK: But I used to
  24. on shirt back "I am a bomb technician, If I am running, do your best to keep up!
