  1. C'mon man, I was wrapped in 20 lb mono with an excalibur on the other end, stuck in my hamstring,..... still made the fish the priority. Released immediately
  2. Oooooh nooooo, I didn't even realize I was making myself available to be listed on the squirrel report!!!! (It was only a matter of time though, lmao)
  3. ok, a little preface. Fri Night, I had Brian Atkins flying in from Bama for the CAST event. Brian is running an event next year and wanted to come see one first hand. GREAT guy. Well, his plane was delayed, landed about midnight. We got to my place and chatted a while, excited for the next day and I said "we gotta crash bud, long day tomorrow." So Brian was asleep in 5 minutes. Then the snoring began......lol I thought he was trying to suck my cat through his left nostril. : Knowing the day he had been through, I couldn't bring myself to wake him and I knew he would probably just start up again in a few minutes even if I did so.... I went down and crashed in my car. Well,...tried,lol. So here we are, CAST day, all nighter. Got back ,..all said and done by 10 ish last night, slept for 2 hrs and hit the lake. Slow bite as first but as it got a bit lighter, the bite lit up. My first fish, about 3.25 lbs, was on the jitterbug. I had a huge excalibur super spook tied on another rod. When I turned on the camera and walked to the front, I tripped on that rod and the spook shot up between my legs and wrapped around to the outside and back of my thigh. ALL I COULD THINK OF WAS MUDDY AT FORK WITH THE RAPALA BURIED IN HIS CALF!!! Funny stuff, here is a short vid clip. The pic is of a 5.6lbr that came about 20-25 mins later on said "spook". Video
  4. Something is definitely going on.......
  5. I have TONS of footage, still pouring in from all over. Yesterday was a huge success!! I will give the full report but in short, it could not have gone better. Here's a small peak of what's coming. Emma may He's diggin' it!! Me, Mom, Dad, Brother Brian, Niece Kelsey A parent and a boat captain, .....mutual love, respect and a firm grip. "That's ME!!" (picture is mounted in awards plaque) What's just as good as a BEAMING child?!! A BEAMING Parent!!
  6. Well, today is the day, and I can't think of a better way to start it than with a tribute to Nik. Todays event, and all the ones I hold from now on are in memory of Nikki. Deb sent me this picture, it's one I plan to use as the headline shot for some CAST things I have planned. It has been my screensaver this week and I can't look at it and not be moved, I just love it. Today is for you Nik
  7. Any wax based product works. Candle wax, ski wax, chap stick, bees wax
  8. She let him win.... :
  9. Dude, you know you are starting a war with quite the adversary. Tread lightly oh injured one. Careful not to let those pills do the typing!! ;D .............................Rhode Doesn't have news..........*&$$) @*$$**!#@* @(!&$#(*@
  10. Definitely, a fresh set of eyes is always good, I'm glad you like what yours have seen. On same note, if you see things that could be different or have suggestions to better the site, A PM is always appreciated. Tight lines
  11. Not at all RW, I merely manage a committee that is TOP NOTCH!!! Each year, we have the lessons from the year before. My team has made adjustments and such so the ro***s we faced last year won't stump us again. This is a huge team effort. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Muddy- I am working on securing the funding for an event in Pa next year. I figure if I can take that part of it off your plate, it will be much easier for you to launch a groundbreaking event in Pa. (or NY, your choice) Once you get the 1st event under your belt, the 2nd one goes MUCH easier. People contact you instead of visa versa. CAST had taught me that this is always how it goes but it wasn't until we started planning this years event that I got to see just how true it is.
  12. Well, after getting to know your personality these last few years, I don't think the doctors have a chance......Good luck GW
  13. Honestly Frog, there is such a "feel good" vibe that goes along with anything to do with CAST (except for poor Glenn who gets all the website drama to deal with, lol) that I have been on a high all week, working and anticipating Saturday. So much so, that the minute the event is over, the only way to battle the withdrawels is to start planning next years event. This year, Brian Atkins , Bama Jr director, arriving tonight, and myself will be immediately shooting out for an evening in the boat to come down slowly, lol.
  14. Amazing nothing,...those are the irresponsible harvesters overseas who have decemated the fishery, especially for the rod and reel angler. There are "quotas" issued for different classes. Per-seine rod & Reel, etc As the fishery declined, "big money" oiled the machine so the rod and reel quotas went down and the per-seiners went up or stayed the same. Eventually, ....NOW,....the season can open and close in a week for rod and reel. Quotas are measured in metric tons
  15. No way man, thanks to all you guys. We're ready, riding the high all week, teams of folks working like ants. It's gonna be something else
  16. You said you werent supposed to type for a few days old man, knock it off!! Mike, Avid had his other shoulder done. It has come up in a few threads. Couple months down, but never out.
  17. Great stuff from a different perspective. I wasn't thinking of "farm" and how much work is involved and how much an extra hand can help. I think it's called symbiosis (sp?) The more you fish, the more his farm benefits. Not to mention that's it's nice just to help out if you can. If nothing else, you can be another set of eyes on his property for him.
  18. That's just wrong > Nice catchin Joe!
  19. Got a message fro Avid today, sounded great. He's home and on his way to the healing process. Gonna be a tough first stint but he's a tough dude, you watch. He's got an ice machine that pumps cold water to the area (reduce swelling I imagine) so he can't actually lay down for the 1st few days. I had the same dilemma when I broke my collarbone, had to sleep at a desk,...weird. GW_ Best of luck with your surgery as well. The ticker is a bit more serious, hope all turns out well and you are back on the water soon. Take care boys.
  20. I sure wouldn't want to date THAT guys daughter!! ;D
  21. Welcome Aboard! There is a current thread in "general fishing" about taking youngsters out to the lake. Some good tips in that one, a must read for any parent.
