Connecticut has been very good to me RW!! 40 mins away and a whole different state. That's where I hide out when I need a break. That girl Linda at the beginning of the season opener video is from Ct. I met her at the Bacardi Billfish tourny in Pompano Beach a few years back. I was like,..."who's the bacardi girl with my accent???"

My parents were both highly involved in state politics. Mom worked in the governor's office and dad held many State jobs from Historical Society to dept of labor and training. They were also well known for their parties. (the ones with food and booze, not political affiliations,lol) Through the years, our family has made many contacts. Well, I got an email last week from an old family friend that had heard I have been filming RI fishing for a year or so. The dept of tourism has a project in the works about RI waters. I was asked if they could use some of my previous video and if I would be interested in making more footage with their videographer. They will be definitely using clips from the videos below and some new stuff we can come up with. I'm very excited to show off our state and hopefully squeeze a few of our kids into some footage. VIDEO BEING USED #2

I have 2. 1. when I lived on the beach, the stripers and blues used our particular cove to corner the bait. It could be a very violent feed at times. Well, about 5am, I hear them out there assaulting the baitfish. (it actually is loud) I went downstairs, grabbed a rod off the wall and walked out into the melee. In my underwear, up to my waist, surf casting for fish after fish, what a blast. Then my watch alarm goes off. Time to get in the shower and put the brown polyester on. I turn to walk back to the house and there are like 70 people casting and enjoying the morning paper and coffee on the beach. It was a quick trot back to the house in my skivvies. 2. Fly fishing at a private club, I hooked our local sports writer for the Providence Journal. I hooked him with a 1/64 hook in the rim of his nostril (quite a tender spot to sink a tiny hook) OK, full circle. This private club was eventually bought by the state for the hatchery it has there. This is the place where we held our Alumni event last month for CAST For Kids. Guess who covered the event for the journal? It was nice to see Tom again and relive our first meeting 15 yrs before. He's a good sport

It was a spiderman rod! lol FC- When you see the fish on the bottom and you are conscious that this one spooks a little easier (or did last time you saw her there) is the h-bug your only "go to" as far as down-sizing? The question is this. What chance would one have if they applied "regular" tactics to that fish. i.e.... senko, 10" worm,...jig (certainly not criticizing your approach, just wondering...) and nice fish!

I never got married because I (for a single guy) always understood what a real marriage should be. I have a great example in my parents. 50 years this yr. This isn't something I took lightly or ran off to do at 21 because all my friends were. Well, here we are at age 40 and she just never came. I've always been told I would be the best dad ever but,...just never happened (at least not according to any state records in the continental U.S.) So what do we do? I am fortunate to have a few friends to do things with, they all fish, they all are in the same boat as me and a re all very respectable people. If I or any one of them ever found the right person, I/we would be nothing but happy for them. So is the grass always greener on the other side? Sure is. Many *** the lifestyle I lead and never realize that I, in turn, *** theirs. I was made to have a partner, just not one I "settled" for. You gotta be able to keep up and that's not the easiest thing to do when you're around me. I want someone who drives me to be and do better. So far, I have lots of friends that do that very well and love me to boot. That's a lot more than some so I'll never complain about anything this life has dished me. If I died tomorrow, they'd all remember that I died smiling,...no regrets. Now, many just see a guy who sees a hottie in a post and comments about her (Avids thread) Now that I have explained a bit, understand that the initial attraction isn't her looks, it's that she is Avid's offspring. I *** Avid's marriage. See how it works? I'm not shallow, but I know a good thing when I see it. But by all means, I'm not AGAINST meeting any referrals PS-Just for the record, even since I was a teen, parents of the girls I dated LOVED me!! I'm serious. Remember the video of the striper fishing? That guy is Michelle's dad. Big lesson here is "never burn a bridge".

Bluefish throw baby menhaden all over the boat. Trick is to clean it immediately or it becomes bulletproof with a little salt and sun.

Glad you guys had an excellent time together and all arrived home safely. That's quite a rig you have there Ronnie!! (the bike) So,....you have a beautiful daughter too. First Avid, now you,...and I have a feeling RW has a beauty at home too, he's keeping very tight lipped around me, a good sign,lol. Did you guys fish at all on the trip? I can't imagine a rig like that doesn't come with rod holders! Question- How is your arthritis on these trips, I would imagine holding that throttle for long periods would drive your hands nuts. I know when I ride moto-x after a long break, my hands SCREAM, and I don't have arthritis! (yet)

I start off with the color that is tied on from last time. Then , when I run out of those, I pick a different natural color. IMO- Color is over-rated, at least at the lake we fish primarily. Some times of year more than others (during spawn, they will hit any color, even pink merthiolate.)

Ku- Me too! lol Jasko- Nick is 6, he has been coming on the boat since age 3. Fishing from the boat since age 4. One of my saltwater buddies saw the video and wants to take the boys blue fishing with us but I think he needs a few more muscles,lol. The last 4 lbr he caught had the rod on the gunnell, he couldn't lift it off. lol (and he won't let you touch it! Has to do it all himself,lol.)

Mom, the kid is relentless. He has his dad's fish sense. HAS to pick his own baits, been casting solo for about 3 yrs now and has "setting the hook" down cold. Yesterday, fish # 3, he really swung on. After, while clicking pics, he looks at me and says "I stuck her good Rusty, didn't I..." ;D Priceless stuff.

It's 3pm, 90 degrees, 2 mph wind. 1 hr into the mini-tournament between Team Red (Nick and Russ) and Team Green (Eric and Nate) Nick has the only fish, caught on a slim trick stick, his new favorite's. Nick is playing with camera (wants to be an adult by tomorrow,lol) How can you not feel unbeatable with a team mate like this. Nick carried the day and Team Red won, 4-0. I caught 1 fish, Nick boated the other 3. No lie. CHECK THIS OUT
