  1. I had a bowl I kept filling and then I would dump it in a double sided Guide series tackle box. When the box was full, about 3 yrs worth, there was over $700. I was hoping for $200, I've had a change collection going ever since to fund a special treat for myself. Super markets have machines where you can just dump the raw change in and it counts and sorts it for pennies on the dollar, well worth it IMO. My guidelines 1. Don't pillage it 2. dump it all, even pennies, the sorter will deal with it.
  2. October will be here before you know it. That means the announcement of the 3rd annual BassResource.com road trip. Start your change jar. I started one after the trip last year and had over $400. The trip this year was VERY easy on my pocket. Just a thought, we all have plenty of time to start saving, it really is an affordable vacation. '08- no excuses
  3. here we go, the 20 mook fan club is in full effect,......PLAY BALL!! have a great season guys. Hope your team represents well.
  4. DO NOT MIX SUB SIZES. A "longer" note has nothing to do with cone size. If "deeper" was the intended word, the amount of travel the motor has on the pole will determine how low of a frequency you will hit. Go with a good SQ sub and you'll cover the whole range and believe me, don't be fooled,....they can hit quite hard. For high quality sound, concentrate an bass and mid-bass. Sub and high are just the edges of the envelope. 8" drivers, 4-8 of them, 2 tweets, and a couple subs, sealed. Headunit with 4+ volts and you'll have sound that hit's you in the chest and presses you to the seat. I promise.
  5. Can someone direct me to any literature regarding criteria for selective harvest?

  7. Accidents are going to happen, we are talking about blatant disregard for the planned day.
  8. put up a "partners needed" post in the "Central" section.
  9. OUCH,...got a hitch on your truck/car? ;D If this guy needs a job, he'd fit right in over at US Air. ;D > ;D
  10. Especially annoying if he is a drinker and you are not and you make the point to communicate that you are expecting him there so please don't go get hammered,....and then you sit there, steaming,...5am. One weekend morning is wasted. Thanks alot, lol. Again, I have no problem finding someone to fish with. Turn to the board. You may end up fishing new places with better fish, who knows, either way, test drive a few members and see if any of you click. I just got back from a trip to Lake Fork with about 35 board members. All types, all walks of life, men and women alike. I would gladly give my front seat to any one of them, any time.
  11. Time for another partner. We often meet up at 3am and that's no time of day to be stood up. It's happened once with both of us and we forgave each other due to the circumstances but if you just can't drag your butt out of bed with consistency,....maybe that person should only get offered to go on evening trips. Is it your boat? Can you go without him? Find more partners. I have a list, many members here are on it. When I'm going to go and there is an open seat, I go right down the list. The list is "reliability based". If you are always pumped and ready, regardless of time or notice,...you are at the top. If you have a 50/50 record, you are on the bottom and RARELY get called. Put the word out on the board that you are making such a list and would like to know if any folks in your area would like to be on it.
  12. Way to round them up Avid. Folks I have asked the attendees to limit their reports as I am trying to collect all their media for the video. It WILL be done in a few days, I just need a little time. I figured I will post video and then all the attendees can answer the questions and add personal touches with their pics as their is so much media, I surely can't use it all. This will keep the report back organized. Hang tough guys, everything is on back burner here till video is done,....I'm on it, working nonstop till it's done. If you have not sent me your media,....please do so TODAY!!!!!! The longer I have to wait on media, the longer the launch is pushed back.
  13. THESE VIDEOS are not educational but fun to watch when fighting cabin fever.
  14. Sure makes for a great avatar though!!
  15. Tipp is reffering to true wattage, not the watts that are supposedly in amps like pymarid, pyle, boss, legacy, etc. If you see a 2000w amp for $100, realize it's just a number printed on the box to help sell amps seeing as how there is no accurate way to measure the wattage of a system. I have an MA Audio 2502 that runs 2 twelves (12's because the front stage is heavily loaded with mid bass and bass speakers that carry right up to the low frewuencies and then some, slight overlap on the crossover slope) The amp is advertised as a 2000w, 2 channel amp when run at 1ohm (which is like driving your car with the pedal floored without ever letting up, car is only gonna last so long) Anyway, the amp probab;y puts out between 900 and 980 true watts. Plenty. If you think that can't get it done, come sit in the passengers seat and I'll play a test tone that will bring your lunch up.....literally. And on top of that, there are 2 subs so when run in parallel, they run at a cool 1.5 ohms. As for the batteries, that's old school. Add a capacitor. The general rule is .5 farad of back up per 500 watts. My current system is 3300 watts (not using all that power, gains are very low to allow for frequency head room) and I run a 5 farad block. What a capacitor does is when the bass amp draws power from your car, it hit's the capacitor for power instead of straining your alternator/battery. This is the one thing I would not skimp on if you truly want to get the most out of your products. Will save you money in the future, alternators don't like car audio. Alternator upgrades are a must if you plan to run anything over 500 true watts without a capacitor. I run a 200amp alternator made by Ohio Generator. My headlights DO NOT dim or flicker If you really want to learn about this stuff, go to sounddomain.com and get on the forum. Lots of guys will help but there are lots of folks that think they know it all. For help, PM "Old man Zif" or "Domain Diva". Top notch advice, always
  16. Nothing that is 15" with four 6x9's trying to cover the bass, mids and highs. If you insist on running 6x9's, definately go with 10's. IMO, you think you want db's but what you really want is loud music. DB's are established through playing loud bass tones (single frequencies)(Burps), not music. This isn't saying Db's can be established with 10's, not at all. Three ten's (30 inches of surface space), sealed. can pound pretty nicely when matched with the right amp and head unit. If you want loud music, I suggest losing the 6x9's and replacing with components. Run 2-3 tens, sealed or 1-2 12's DEFINATELY sealed, and most importantly look into a high output Head unit (4v and up) Why 2000 watts? This is not directly related to loudness. I'll show you plenty of 3-5000 watt systems that when matched against a single w7 with a 6v head unit and a 1000w amp will get stomped on before the knob hits 1/2 way. Remember that installation is 60% of your sound. Dampner like brown bread or Dynamat are priceless if you want a car to hit stiff. All the bass in the world is no good of you don't harness it. I don't use any but I've installed plenty of sony products to know that like most all manufacturers, with proper installation and forthought to sound dynamics, a sony system pounds like the rest of 'em. 17. Bighead, that would be a good idea. You were key is putting a few folks on fish. Nice job! I am home, still ice up at the lake. Computer is up and running like a champ, just waiting on the rest of the media. Fletch, Norm,Mike, I got yours, thank you. All the goods will be revealed soon. I have no idea how this video will turn out, lots of mixed stuff but at the very least, you folks will get the feel of the week we had. I'm on it and won't stop till it's done, could take a few days once I have all the footage so hang tight folks! Thanks!
  18. Guys,.....I'm home. lol Many of you don't know about my travels woes I think but yet again, US Air, had it out for us. Long story, but got home about midnight finally. I am going up to my lake, ice should have been out as of yesterday, never know though. I had my computer fixed by stratosdadri while I was away and we are making a plan to hook it back up when I get back from the lake. He is fishing the park today, the place his daughter is holding the CAST fundraiser next week, so we will hook up this afternoon and get this report back rolling. Thanks again to him for getting this done while I was away. Much appreciated. Please be patient as I need to accumulate all the footage from everyone before I can even start the video. I want to make sure I do the best job I can with this one and also be sure I have all the media from the attendees before I begin. I know, it's a drag but there are stories with pics to back them up that are worth the wait. ATTENDEES---please contact me immediately if you have footage so we can get that trnasferred to me. Also, I know it's hard but try not to let out too many stories just yet. Video soon!! LBH (safe travels to the mooks, still in transit)
  19. Yes Blue eyes, we got pics, we got video, we got it all. Unfortunately I couldn't get many pics of "Team Georgia" dominating the scene as they were a 3 man team that took off in the morning and came back when it was dark. These guys attacked the lake like one big machine Perhaps that's why "Team Georgia" reigned supreme with the numbers. Size however,.......well,.....Glenn's the man,....(and Kerri is the woMAN) Details to follow later today.
  20. Oh Yes,....THAT Ricky,......he'll never rent a boat to a bassresourcer again. I will be sure to type out a full report when if I get back to RI today.
  21. I'm at Art Palseys house tonight with cigarlover and nboucher. Man, what a trip!! Huge highlights to come, some quality pics and video of our fearless leader leading the pack in true style, we'll let him give you all the details asa soon as he and Kerri get back. Meeting all these folks was an amazing experience, it's going to take me a good hour to type up a full detailed post but as usual, the commeraderie was just amazing and I think everyone who attended truly feel like they experienced somthing special, to remembered and continued for years to come. I can't wait to get back. Many shout outs are in order for all the friendly folks we met along the way who helped out the members with everything from putting guys on fish to showing the downright great hospitality that we are becoming to know to Texas for. Friends and family who assisted with getting us out of New England, and many more!!! A few bad shout outs are in order too. Again, details to follow but I'll give you a hint. Last year it was Ritchie, this year it was Ricky. I WANNA GO BACK!!!!! My stomach hurts from laughing so hard, so long. WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!! I feel like my family just grew by about 35 members. '08-NO EXCUSES!!!! WATCH FOR THE UPCOMING VIDEO!!!!!!
  22. For the New England crew--I will have breakfast sandwiches (ham/egg/cheese on english) and fresh coffee with "to go" cups ready for us. Planning to have cab here for 4am sharp.
  23. We have a 30+ person group, 1/2 of them are on the road as we type, the other half, myself included will be flying out tomorrow morning. I think we should be able to help you out a bit, lol. Stay tuned and monitor the "2nd annual BassResource.com roadtrip" sticky.
