  1. Below is a pic of what we wear in the winter on the ocean. Not only is it a type III, the arms and everything have foam. When you go in wearing one of these, you float from the chest up, not from the neck up, another neat feature. Helps keep you warm too, one of the warmer jackets I own but not practical for everyday use around town,...doesn't look like it but it is a life jacket. The jacket is most popular in coast guard orange but comes in many colors to match your color scheme. Mine is teal blue, for example.
  2. I think he never stops hunting would be a better way to put it. Perseverance,.... .....Keep stickin' 'em Biz!!! I'm planning a trip to Cali sometime this fall (sept-early oct) Gilroy area, up for a meet? (and maybe a swimbait lesson for redline and myself?)
  3. Bubbler. I just sent you a test PM. Scroll to the top of this page and find the sentence..."Hey, Bubbler, you have 1 message, 1 is new." click on the word "messages" in that sentence at top of page.
  4. Excellent skillet! Glad to have you back. That sounds like the weather we had last year, you did much better than us though!! Good job making the best of a trying situation. -there is a very easy tutorial for posting pics in the forum FAQ's
  5. I've been PM'ing with Roger as he has submitted a first class article for the forum upon my request. I know now that all is fine, he's just busy as a bee right now with multiple projects keeping him TOO busy. ROLO, do what you do best....GO FISHING!!! Glad to hear from you partner, your input and knowledge are greatly missed. Hopefully we can have you back soon enough. "Hello" to Lois for us as well.
  6. Sure is, I expect to catch the largest size class in my lake again for the 3rd year in a row. You are one of the very few (only actually) person who only catches small fish when using anything other than Yamamoto that I have heard about. Anyone else only catch dinks when using a non-yamamoto bait? Simon, the knockoffss that were analyzed actually had a slightly higher amount of salt than the GYCB. Not saying if this is better or worse, personally, I'd like the slowest fall possible, just stating the facts. The texture difference is in the amount of hardener used.
  7. We (the staff) have discussed donations. Glenn feels it is kinda tacky and has insisted on doing this solo with the help of advertisers only. Well, we as staff, have an idea of what it costs to run this place and let me tell you,..I sure couldn't do it. It's alot more money than I originally thought when I got involved in the forum game. Perhaps posts like this will help Glenn to see that we WANT to help. We wouldn't be insulted, rather honored to help participate in keeping a site we all know and love. I'm not saying the forum is in jeopardy of closing any time soon, just saying, in general. But Jim isn't asking about $$, he is asking , as a user, if there are things we can do to avoid a bandwidth jam up. The animated smileys use the most BW I think. Other than that, I'm not sure. and maybe I'm getting lucky but I haven't had any speed problems lately.
  8. I think I missed something here. I don't see where ww2 was offensive, he actually thought I was, if anything.
  9. Dan, it deals with the loop created, not the actual twist. It lays the loop in the groove and then when you recast, it comes off the spool in it's natural order.
  10. I'll give you that, they invented it. Everyone else just made it affordable.
  11. Amen. Post spawn is just good fun.
  12. I was searching for a minute here, trying to help out and notice that there is no "rayburn red" listed on the bill lewis site anymore. Has this color been re-named?
  13. Anyone get the email from the bass professor about the new spool design? It is supposed to 100% eliminate any birdnestiing with a spinning reel. Video looks like it might work, anyone ever get to use one yet? Curious as heck to see if the technology works or not.
  14. ummmm,....chocolate....... ;D (j/k) [move]Happy Easter!! Happy Easter!! Happy Easter!![/move]
  15. STOP!!!! Reelmech sells cork sealer on his site, go check it out, that small bottle does an amazing amount of rods, don't be fooled. Great stuff if you want clean grips to stay that way. Personally, that grime is "Karma" in my book.
  16. I'm allowed to be curious too. I understand the newbie or tough children take on it but was wondering if anyone ELSE used them and what the appeal was. Do they work, what models and why type of thing. Sorry if it offended you but I'm not "starting" anything except for a thread about a line of rods that I am confused about. Many of you have answered my question. I notice some have a specific model for a specific application, makes sense. Some use them for other species, makes sense. SOME AGREE WITH ME, makes sense. What I don't understand is if a rod can bend from tip to tail, why bother rating them other than length?
  17. It's not an overnight thing. A spawn can last weeks and weeks, plenty of time for you to hobble down and make a few casts. Heal up, the fish miss you. ps-dislocating a leg,...at the hip? OW!
  18. ?? I don't get that. Panamoka- I enjoy hearing your backround, reminds me of days showing up at the co-op with my 6 stripers and chunkin with that rake to get another 1/2 a potato sack full and make my limit. Hard work but great memories. Salt water folk are just as close as freshwater folk, sometimes closer as lives can depend on each other out there.
  19. GO FC!! You need to start a fan club, lol.
  20. Catt and I have been PM'ing about this all morning, better than having to struggle through another episode of Charlie Moore telling us to just write and challenge him,lol I first fished for opening day, trout season, 6 yrs old. My passion grew on it's own, catching skipjack blues on an "Al's goldfish" ($.59) down at the little estuary bridge near my parents old house. From there, it was largemouth till jr high-high school when I bought my first jon boat. I couldn't watch bluefish boil from land now that I was a boat owner. Almost got killed learning that Narragansett Bay is no place for a 12 ft jon boat, lol. With money scarce, I upgraded to a 14 that allowed me to fish LM and still stick close to shore and fish bluefish and stripers. The next year, we won the annual striper tourny here, in the 14 Lowe. The name was born. (originally spelled with an "e" on "Low") (we were the only tin boat in the game. Avg boat was a 21 cc, lol) Then I got very salty. Learned alot from some "old salts", my ex G/F's grandad being one of the most respected here in the state. Tuna was now the game. Stripers paid for the excursion as I got my commercial licenses and permits to sell. Now it became money. I also would dig clams when there weren't fish to sell. Now, I've become a driver at UPS, sold the salt rig (but bought a 15' whaler jet for here in the bay) and I'm back to expand my freshwater knowledge till I reach the level I was at on the ocean. Same game, different field. Another 5 yrs, who knows, lol. Peacocks down the amazon maybe?
  21. THAT AIN'T DIRT.......... IT'S KARMA!!!! 8-)
  22. ok, they are indestructible, granted. So is an army tank but it's no good for fishing. Why would anyone want a rod who's tip can touch the butt ????? I've used a noodle or 2 in my day but.......that's a bit much. How can a decent hookset possibly be achieved with the absence of any back bone?
  23. Yes, they work just as well but not ALL knockoffs. PM sinko (above) and I'm sure he'd send you a couple to make you a believer. The ones on ebay that are 50 for $10 are ***, the ones I personally use. CLICK THIS TO SEE IF THEY WORK!
  24. T.O.P. would be my # 2 pick.
