Spawned out fish
I don't know if there is a scientific way to tell but a bass that is really long and extremely skinny is a good sign of a spawned out fish. They really look emaciated until they get feeding again. As for the bluegill,...change your cologne if it was an unpleasant experience.

BAM
CC- If you are not married, you are probably a "native" Bammer. Born to Be a bammer from the minute you came through the canal. Aren't you guys enlisted with the local DNR testing and water quality board? Great organization. They meet 14 times/month, usually on fri nights and saturday mornings. They only require that you take a water sample of the same lake at least 4-6 times a week. It's really not asking much,..I feel it's the least I can do to help protect our environment that big business is quickly killing. Explain to your partners that you just want to make a difference. You just have the need to feel like you did somthing selfless for the good of all. I gotta go,...I have to pick up senko77 in an hour. We have a meeting to attend. My work never ends. High Tide and Low Tide
Look for tidal patterns. Not a pattern of the tide but what the fish do with the tidal changes. The tidal change can trigger a bite like flipping a lightswitch. This is why the "slack tide" is a common suggestion. It's actually the hour before or the hour after. During the actual slack, the bite can be slower than Forrest Gump. Mind you,my experience is all saltwater when it comes to tides. I've never fished for LM on a tidal system. When it comes to river tides, I only have striper experience but as the old addage goes, "Bass are bass". The changing of tides, stirs food from it's hiding places. Bait has to reposition itself at the time of a current change and this transition leaves it vulnerable. The change in current forces the fish to re-position also, even if it just means getting on the other side of the same rock it used during the previous tide. Foods and newly hatched organisms from the estuaries up-river slowly start getting caught in the currents and get pulled to your newly positioned bass. Feed time. So I guess my suggestion would be more to find the structure the fish are using and position your boat accordingly depending on the tidal current. The lures and baits come second. If you can find the fish, you can figure out how to catch them with much more confidence. Catch 'em up!

Who or What is The Bait Monkey?
Word has it that he will be attending the ground breaking ceremony at the new BPS in Foxboro, Mass. Watch the news for this event as he will be there on the ground breaking day. This is like the "free fishing" days that most states offer to stimulate the fishing economy. For one day this year,we know where he will be so everyone West and south of New England,........ be ready. We will keep him occupied for as long as we can. hightekrednek- Be careful....this is a myth. 1. Watch your stuff. He will be edging you subconsciously to sell somthing to appease the habit. 2. Watch your ethics...he will goad you into stealing if your morals are not in check. This critter has a more devious mindset than your local crack dealer. He stops at NOTHING!

Do bass change color due to water clarity?
HH- It seems no matter what size the fish is,if we catch it in that back cove (2-4ft and mud bottom) it will have a black back. Must be their type of camo for skinny water. Fishin' is so much like golf. You'll never get every variable perfect, there for we continue our pursuit for knowledge till they bury us!

Extreem changes on bedding or near spawn Bass
I had been fishing daily right up till this 12 day weather front moved in. The bass had just got on the beds 2 days before the weather came. Went out 2 nights ago with senko77 and the fish were still suspending at mouths of the coves they were bedding in. Now that water is a whole foot higher, everything is flooded. We went out yesterday again and low and behold, some of the fish had come back to their beds already. Sun is out full bore today and we'll be back to non-stop bed fishing this afternoon. I'll know better this afternoon but I do believe we are in good shape for a decent spawn in my lake. Most of the states lakes have already spawned out anyway, but my lake is always the last in the state. (highest elevated body in the state, water stays cooler, longer.)(also super clear and CAN'T get muddy as it has no streams or rivers entering it.) We'll know more by tonight.

Do bass change color due to water clarity?
This is Dorothy. She is a resident bass we have been catching for 5 or 6 yrs consistently. She has a very distinguishable growth or chunk of scar tissue in her mouth which makes her easy to identify. This is Dorothy in the summer in 5-10 ft of crystal clear water This is Dorothy in November out in 20+ ft

Mini Bass Boats
In my opinion, I would get a jon boat instead. Lighter, same price, much more versatile and will last 10x longer. Literally. Buy used! Good luck.

Do bass change color due to water clarity?
Our fish are totally opposite of R-Rogues. The water is super clear but the deep fish are very dark and the shallow fish barely have a diamond pattern showing.

Caught without a License
You may be fine with the $50 fine but it is a deterrent and merely a way to document a "first offense". Many times, the guilty angler plans on getting a license but either it's the first time out and they havn't gotten it yet or maybe a whim of the moment, getting out earlier than planned but didn't get it yet. They are not "criminals" persay but now it is documented. When you get caught again that year, you lose $500 and risk 30 days in jail. Still don't care? Still gonna go risk fishing the rest of that season? Not me!

Caught without a License
That's nothing! Here in RI, if you get caught fishing the Scituate Reservoir, our main water supply for the entire state, they not only take your gear, but THE VEHICLE YOU USED TO ASSIST IN BREAKING THE LAW. Yes,your car, truck,or whatever. Just like a drug dealer.

Caught without a License
I got caught years ago in VT when I first moved there. Went out to investigate some of the ponds I saw in the area. Had every intention of buying one, this was just an exploratory ride. Made a few casts at the wrong place and the wrong time. Took my gear for 1 yr, $50 fine and couldn't get a license in VT for 1yr. Lesson learned

Do Tiki Sticks work as well as a Senko?
Actually the question is do they work as well. In the water I fish Yes. As well as many other knock offs. Not all but many. Thank you ROLO! I posted a 3 month data sheet last summer of me vs my partner who would use GY exclusively as a test "control". Some days I did better, some days he did better but neither was ever a strong winner over the other. My largest fish last year was caught on an *** senko knock-off in "tomato craw". His best fish on a senko was over a pound smaller. Many will argue this one till they are blue in the face. We did that in a 6 page thread last year and I for one AINT goin' there again! I just went and did my own comparison test and will live with my own results but just for the record, the livewell hasn't been a lonely place for a fish to hang out.

Interlux Paint
www.yachtpaint.com The stuff is expensive but worth every penny. The paint is actually the cheaper of the many steps. Be sure to use the interlux painting guide for the specific application you plan on using. It lists all the steps and products needed for different surfaces and needs. Time to open that wallet wide, lol. My 12 ft jon boat took approximately 100 hours and $350 to paint. Good luck!

I'm starting to think that my water here may be way too clear for these. We take the rattles of everything! These baits throw out a TON of vibe! Surprised me.

My resume?
Well,..I'm a moderator and I take more pictures than both of you. I'm d**n sexy for a short guy and love to over compensate in more than 1 aspect of my life. I tend to be insecure at random times but can be relied on as the underdog who always comes from behind to take the win. Well,. at least at monopoly. Oh yea, I have 7 friends. 4 reel, 1 imaginary and 1 rented i don't add or spell good hold on, phone's ringing......

curious, does anyone name their boats anymore?
I do. These are the current 2. I just sold "Fresh Daily" (21' steiger CC) and before her I had "Fishous" on my 17' Whaler. Notice the name "Rusty Hooks". My name is Russ. "Double Entendre"

chatterbait presentations
I just tried these for the first time the other day and when I used the trailer that came with it, I tried a few different presentations with no success. Hopping,.... no reactions. Steady retrieve, no success. I put on a craw trailer and gave it a varied retrieve with hard jerking motions and got some action. What are some methods that are producing for you guys? Thanks
