  1. You guys are both hilarious!! Avid- You have more than enough "just cause" to hold tough on that one! Kana- you sound like the Klutz my dad is convinced I am! Mine is rather common I think. Please, please , please do not tell me I'm going to slay 'em, kill 'em,fill the boat, do great, can't miss, have an awesome day, catch one after the other etc. Total jinx. Same goes for lure choice,...but in reverse. I dare you to tell me that the lure I just tied on will never work. This one worked once when I threw a topwater (super spook excalibur no less)in 40 degree water and came back with a 3 lb chunk!
  2. Someone said that it wasn't in there anymore but I havn't looked in yrs. Mine was 16lbs-6 ozs. sidenote- my first name is John. That's how it was in there. I go by "russell", my middle name. If it's still John THetonia, that's me. Actually I'm pretty sure it was listed as "J. Russell THetonia" If anyone has the book, I would be curious to know if it still stands.
  3. Many are stocked initially and some get fish that find their way in from entering streams, etc. WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!
  4. I think I meant more like "the justice system" more so than the "police". That's definately the wardens job FF- Northern Pike, 6 lb, no leader. It was '92, may have been broken since. I havn't paid the $25 for the "official" book since 2000,lol.
  5. flech- I can agree with that to a point. Absolutely. However, I don't think this was the case with Lee. Personally I think Lee got robbed! I would be super disappointed (to put it nicely) with the guide that didn't know better than to help this young guy properly document what the 2 of them had accomplished! Nevermind that this could have been huge for his business!! I really feel for Lee but as stated above, he holds the record in my book. Live and learn I guess.
  6. There has to be a a set of rules for somthing so controversial and "non-believable" as owning a world record. Top-popper-2 different records. One is the overall WR and one is the "Jr." WR. Flech- I gotta disagree. I hold a line class rcord and it took almost 1 1/2 yrs to finally solidify after line submission, all that stuff. They take forever and decline quite a few entries because the criteria have to be met EXACTLY. My personal belief is that whatever governing body is going to rule on these things has to be strict in maintaining these criteria. Lots of people out there that would "attempt" to jeopardize their integrity to hold a record. The IGFA is like the fishing version of a the police. Sometimes if you're a cop, people are going to hate you but the general "honest" citizen doesn't have a problem with you doing your job. Same thing for the IGFA as I see it. (plus let's not forget all the good they do for our sport from The Billfish Foundation all the way up to their jr angler educational programs.)
  7. Looking great so far! It's going to start coming together quickly now. Was that blue paint I noticed on the hull? A little color Goes a looong way!
  8. Letter from IGFA: The application received June 2005, was reviewed and subsequently declined due to Lee's catch not being weighed on a scale. IGFA rules state that catches are to be weighed in, and the scale be certified within the last twelve months in order to qualify for a record. Junior anglers are given the opportunity to weigh their catches on the boat and release them after the weigh in, along with not having to submit a line sample. It was an outstanding catch and I am sure that Lee will remember it for many years to come even though the IGFA could not grant him his request to hold a junior record and we truly hope that he has an opportunity in the future to catch another potential world record. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me again. Best regards, Rebecca Reynolds IGFA World Records 300 Gulf Stream Way Dania Beach, FL 33004 (954) 924-4246 Oh well, he tried! Not many of us can claim an 18+ either way!
  9. I couldn't agree more! Perhaps it's just the old salt mentality but when it comes to color, It's more of a hue issue to me. I only use natural colors, blacks, greens and browns in any combination. When choosing which one to use though, it's "dark" or "light", that's it. As for matching the crays in your lake, I think it's the profile that can maybe be manipulated. In my lake anyway, the crays have very skinny pincers. I like the bear paw trailers because of this reason. (on left)
  10. How much water in that glass? 1/2 empty? 1/2 full? Lots of positives here. You'll feel better about yourself and you can conquer this and set a new goal. Life is what you make it.
  11. I would definately leave the seat and use it as support . That bench provides torsional stability, it is "structural". Your deck will start from the inside edge (closest to middle of boat) of that middle seat and run all the way to under the front lip of the bow seat. Add a few braces in key spots, a coat of Glass resin, carpet and you're ready to install your pedestal mount and bow mount T/M. Done. KU just did this recently.
  12. That would be sooo cool to be chasing a "particular" fish. Old grandma Give her a kiss for me when you finally meet!
  13. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1142565867 WAIT FOR ME!! It will be '07 by the time I get back to Fork so it may not count but for '06 but my PB WILL be taken from Fork (I hope) lol
  14. Thanks again Ben. Yes, I have the whole hub off, outer bearing just fell right out but wasn't sure if I remembered correctly about having to force the inner bearing out but you said it's the seal that is the only thing holding it in and I will bang it out the uinner side now that I know that is what I'm supposed to do. Just wanted a second opinion basically but I got lucky and "Ben" answered with EVERYTHING I need to know (for now, lol) Thanks again, I'm going to give it a shot again today. The drag is that the boat is 45 mins away from my house right now. Making this a Pain in the ...... I have the 1 hub home and will see if I can do that one today. Thanks again for taking the time Ben
  15. I just went to that site. Awesome. How would I find out what hub assembly is for the 11949 so I can replace it with the right one. THere are tons of choices there. When it said 3/4" on the 11949 page, does that mean a 3/4 ' spindle?
  16. The spindle was pretty flawless. THe entire hub/tire slid right off the spindle like butter then the outer bearing fell right out. The inner bearing is "floating" loose in there but wont come out either way without some due force but then I'm thinking the race is gone too so should I just get new hub assemblies? They are only like $15 more than the all the bearing parts. If so, what size spindle would that be for the lm 11949?
  17. remember that a fish who is not moving around expending energy will sit in a place out of the current but near it and facing into it to intercept food that mother nature is flushing past him. Always take the extra effort to cast INTO the wind, thusly bringing the lure by the fish from in front of him (or hopefully,....her)
  18. Jigs You may want to look into a drift anchor. Best $30 I ever spent. Slows you down so there is nowhere that is "too windy" anymore. Get on your favorite spots regardless of wind and use the same baits you normally would.
  19. Thanks Ben. The inner bearing moves around plenty in there but reaches a point where it won't go any further (no matter what side I try and take it out) So I'm thinking the races are shot too which may lead me to just buy 2 whole hub assemblies for $40 ea and not have to bother with all this. My problem now is that I don't know the shaft size and don't have a micrometer or a vernier gauge here. Can anyone tell me the shaft size by the bearing number? or maybe know where I could look up the inside diameter of a certain bearing? The bearing # is lm 11949. Any help is really appreciated.
  20. ok, when I pulled the cotter pin and took off the nut, I pulled the hub/wheel off and the outer bearing fell right out. The inner bearing however, is another story. I tapped lightly to see if it needed a little cohersion but it wouldn't come out. Now is it possible that I remember having to really give that thing a good shot with hammer and a wooden dowel (did this about 15 yrs ago)? Does it come out the same side as the outer bearing or does it come out the inner side. If the inner side, do I need to get the grease seal off first or will it come out with the bearing? Thanks guys.
