Dixon info and my $.02
VTster-I hear you about the doubting thomas syndrome but there is no other group of people ready and willing to accept a wr than the guys here. But as stated in the quote above, these were WR CHASERS. I, personally, chase only big bass but don't ever plan on seeing any kind of recoord but even at that, even I know the basic things to do to eliminate the doubters,i.e, state scale, measuring tape, pics, Autopsy even, if necessary. If I were a WR chaser, and caught one, I would put an aerated cooler in my car and drive straight to Pompano Beach , Fla and drop the fish in the IGFA's lap, never mind not even bring it to a scale or wrap a tape around it. Oh yeah,..... [move]WELCOME TO THE FORUM!![/move]

Cover or Structure?
Structure, structure structure. At least for big bass hunters. Cover is more obvious and a great learning place but will always hold more numbers of smaller fish (in general, not saying a log won't hold a hog, lol) RW?

22lbs 7oz reported from Dixon Ca
Tenka wrote If i caught a 22lb fish, i would have video, pictures from every angle and measurements, then i would find way to have her radio tagged. There is NO REASON to put a real fish on a wall anymore. I can think of 1 to 1.5 million reasons why it would be worthwhile to avoid any misinterpretation and send it ,no,...drive it directly to Pompano Beach and personally place it in the biologists hands.

In mine, you would put soft borders or transparent borders on both, then select 1 to be the main piece and then add the other one on top of it. It's a collage that starts with a backround (pic 1) and only has 1 added to it (pic 2) When you think of a collage you think of lots of pics, this is a 2pic collage.

These are extremely simple as I'm sure marlboroman will attest. This is such a user friendly, basic program. I really wish I had the patience to learn these other programs, I have so many ideas and nowhere to put 'em.

I honestly don't know the differences but if I had to buy one I would buy the picture it personally but you might want to look into which is easier. I lost my copy of picture it. Came with a works suite pkg and of course, that's the one disc I lost! Just had to rebuild computer so now I don't have it anymore. Let me know what you find.

Information...
Trip data-under trip data, you'll record all the weather conditions and anything influencing your decisions. This is the data we collect "at the llake" so all fish info is tracked here fish by fish and transferred to "trip summary" when you get home. in columns, left to right fish # weight lure gps coordinate comment All weather(wind, air and water temp, sky conditions, etc) trip summary-here you transer totals and track, numbers, lunkers, etc. (For RI I have "lunker" set at anything over 4lbs) Date place time frame total fish total weight top 5 weight lunkers Here you'll also add anything else you want to add from the days trip data. Be sure to leave a good area open for comments on the day. mine are usually filled with things like "spawn beginning" "great am topwater bite",etc but we also put in notes of funny things that happened or the sighting of a cool animal or an oddball thing that happened that day like catching 2 fish in 1 lure, etc. You get the point, makes for better recall of your season when you look back. Things you would have forgotten about. An author could probably write a good book based on my notes, some funny stuff. Also, I use a column to put a hyperlink in for each day that when clicked, shows you the pics in "my pictures" that correspond to that day.

Majority were done in microsoft picture it perfect but I think that program is now called digital image. It is like an intermediate type program. I can't seem to figure out photoshop or fireworks. Picture it is easy. "express" versions don't cut it. They just let you do the basics.

Just some examples of the fun stuff you can do with your pics to make them different from each other. Seems we have hundreds of pics that are identicle except for the clothing. Programs that let you modify your pics can really make them stand out from each other.

At What Time Did You Catch Your PB??
have you ever noticed a difference between the time zones of SM and LM sharing the same water? Do they share those peak zones or does each have a different time zone for lunkers?
-
At What Time Did You Catch Your PB??
This is an easy one. With my fishing log, I just querry "3 hr" intervals and "over 4lbs" and then cross reference. For 2005, the 3 hr time span that had the most fish over 4lbs was 3am to 6 am Now a KEY thing to remember is that I am out there at 3am 10x more than I am out there at 3pm. So I ask this..... RW for example, what 3hr time zone do you fish the most? Is it the within the hours that you've caught your lunkers? A similar theory: unrelated but similar one week at lake "X", 5 guys get pics taken with 12 lbrs. All 5 guys caught on the "latest" lure out there, a "depth charge" by wickywacky lures. The lure comes in 2 colors, 4 of the 5 just happened to be using "orange" Now bassmaster does an article on "lake X Orange" and every angler that goes there for the next 5 yrs throws everything orange in the book. Of course they catch hogs because lake x is hog heaven. Now it's 10 yrs later, and some guys are researching a trip to lake X and all they keep seeing is orange, orange, orange, so naturally, they stock up on orange. Moral- Orange was only hot because it was WHAT WAS USED! The whole question only applies if you evenly spread your fishing time out over the whole 24 hours of a day.

Redtail, don't laugh, my guests tend to do better than or as good as I do! I like to put people on fish. I really know this reservoir well and it's a treat to share it with people who see the same thing I do when they view it. Pure heaven! I always give the guest first shot at the better cast but the gods will tend to reward my selflessness now and again, lol. Like any good 'ol hole, she can shut you out on a day when conditions are perfect and fill your boat on a north wind, bluebird day. You never know how much she will give up on any 1 outting. I'M JUMPIN' OUTTA MY SKIN!! Can't Wait!

Ok, post what you think your PB for '06 will be. In December we can look back and see how close we got to being correct. I'm guessing 7lbs even in my home lake. Fork could hold somthing special but that wouldn't count to me. May your goals me dwarfed by your actual success! Good Luck!!

Night Fishing?
yeah, like the cruisers in the shallows I spoke of, the roam up along the fronts of the reed that surrounds our lake. Sometimes with the lights, you'll see a hog just cruising by the very fron of the reeds. Usually with a drop, point or nice transition nearby.
