  1. Zimmy- next year is almost in the works already. We are planning either Fork in late feb/early march or somplace totally different w/o the pressure. Matt-where is your friend in Mass from,..we're neighbors, maybe you could get me another guy to add to my call list for the season?
  2. Sorry Zimmy,..Matt will tell you himself that I have dibs on #399. Called it last November man,...if you came down with us a few weeks later we could have given you a shot at #400. j/k of course. Let us know how you make out, please post anything we may want to know in the post below! Thanks in Advance and catch 'em up! http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1132009969
  3. Nice! First thing I would do is invest another $60 and put floors in that . Even if you plan to totally deck it with the next wave of money, I would get floors in it for now to fish comfortably. I have some experience mod-ding jon boats, any questions give me a hollar.
  4. 21' steiger craft CC w/ mercury 225 offshore (sale pending) 16 ft Boston Whaler CC jet boat. 1967 12 ft jon
  5. I'm with ya JT, 19 degrees here, just found out local shop carries Mattlures swim baits,..hehehe,...gonna go empty him out!
  6. I also traded about $30,000 woth of hours working for hours fishing last year. UPS had a streak of offering days off so I essentially worked a 3 or 4 day week all year. I felt guilty at first but I realized that you only go around once and if I can fish more now and survive comfortably then why not?
  7. Fluke did you know they have LM on the big island? I had no idea there were peacocks there.
  8. Cool pics, thanks for taking the time to post 'em all!
  9. Go find the BIG one first! you can use any of the sizes as long as your equipment can throw it from 3" to 15"
  10. the timing here is getting almost,........erie! 36 days till Fork!
  11. I keep a very detailed log and I am so in the same boat with Rolo that it just may sink! I agree 100% that it is much more about whether or not the temp is rising , fallin, or stable as opposed to cold or warm. This is another situation to back up Rolos New Jersey story. Location- RI, 4 hrs north of Jersey Conditions-water temps in mid 40's Air temp 52 Fishing a huge rockpile, biggest in the lake, rockpile starts at shoreline and slopes down to 30ft. Fish were found around the 5 ft line. http://www.zippyvideos.com/2662513712210376/nov13_2005/ I will be tracking temps and will gladly pass on any data you need for comparison.
  12. I got an email from Charlie's people today. Keep in mind that this is not ESPN, just the people who forward the stuff to them. This is a copy of the email. Russ, We have recieved and forwarded your challenges to the ESPN staff. Unfortunatley they get about 40,000 challenges a year and are unable to grant them all. Because of the large volune of challenges they are also unable to call each challenger back with a yes or no answer. We appreciate your patience with this matter however the producers at ESPN are the ones who make the decisions about the challenges. We have submitted your challenges as well as forwarded all correspondences between us to ESPN. Thank you once again for your patience and understanding in this matter. -- Extreme Entertainment Staff. Now what I don't get is that why does Charlie Moore keep antagonizing people to challenge him if there is more than 6 months worth of unanswered challenges? We first sent this in Oct. and they still havn't even read it yet with 40,000 emails sitting there. This is fine, I understand, but please tell Charlie NOT to ask MORE people to send in their challenge if it most likely won't be addressed.
  13. Yea, it's not gonna happen. Combination of things biggest being loot. I'll have plenty of opportunity to stick Bluefin this fall. Another good friend of mine, Tim Hughes from Marshfield mass., will be taking the spot. This will be his first time fishing for any kind of sailfish so kudos to Tim!
  14. The problem you face is that your boat is 10'. That is a very "tippy canoe" size for jon boats. Any weight you add will have a significant difference. This is an old ('64) 12. Use this for some ideas. Any questions feel free to PM me. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1119359773/32#32
  15. Sad to think though how people have become soooo dependant on 1 bait. Lots of other brands out there that offer the same catch ratios now also. Gary was certainly the first but......... Ask yourself.."In my world, Is it the car or the driver that's winning the race?"
  16. I just recieved an email from Capt. Kevin Dailey. I have been invited to be the alternate aboard the "Fresh Dailey" for the 26th Annual Bacardi® Rum Billfish Tournament in the Bahamas. I fished for a few years in New England alongside Cat. Kev at the Stellwagen Bank fishery in Cape Cod BAy. Capt Kevin's 1st mate, Rob Peacock, was probably the 1 person that gave me enough info to keep me in the game when learning how to fish for Giant Bluefin Tuna. I'm very excited to see if I can get the time off from work and then to see if I can actually afford this. Kev has offered to split my ticket, he'll fly me down but I fly myself back and pay all my own expenses. I believe it is a 4 person team and they need someone who is capable of filling in at any position. I hope this is like riding a bike because it's been quite a few months since I've been offshore. Will know if this is really possible by tonite
  17. oops, thanks! Sticky time for those I think. Glenn?
  18. sometimes I think that if I "worked" for the industry, It may change me. My dad was a musician, jazz percussionist. When I was a kid, dad did 2-3 gigs a week for extra dough (he also had state job) and music changed from his passion growing up to "work" It took alot of the joy out of music for my dad. I personally like the balance of being a UPS driver and a fishing addict. Just a forwarning, "marine biologist"= great title but no pay. Good luck.
  19. Chris, is it almost time for an "ice out" post? Let's hear about those back coves and craws everywhere and that red rattletrap in the shallows. My lake should be thawing right around the week I go to Fork according to past yrs records,....it's right around the corner and..... I need a fix!
  20. This quote is from the below reference article http://www.umpquavalleybassmasters.com/bassbook.htm When angered, startled, or provoked into attacking a prey, the preferred feeding strategy of a bass is to strike instantly when the prey (or lure) passes within relatively close range. In this event it will usually grab the prey and quickly dash away, returning to its station of safety. Largemouth Bass have a burst of swimming speed of about twelve miles per hour, but their sustained swimming speed is much less.
